16th to 8th, was a great drive from Pye. 👍

Might give the team a little bit of confidence for Townsville. WR have been strong there in recent years. Though I'm not getting my hopes up too much for this year.
Things can turn around. They got strong last year. We'll see.

I would've thought this Speedcafe poll might be a bit closer. Not a lot of love for the turbo's.

Being a full on V8 person for as long as I can remember (Disclaimer: alcohol consumption may affect results:sly:), I voted no, there's just no replacing that V8 rumble IMO.

That's not what it's about though...and no one is replacing it so...

It's about the fact that not too many people (percentage wise) are looking forward to the introduction of V6 turbos of which I am one. The sound of these cars is a big factor in that, and yes the sound of a V8 will be replaced with the introduction of turbo's, albeit one step at a time, so....

How is it replaced, until there is a set ruling that says this...no it's not replaced. Still there. Also I'm confused how this is a bad thing still, as if people down there didn't live through ATCC but okay.

So far, PRA & DJRTP would like to keep a V8( possible Mustang) in the works.

As for any other V8s,
if only AMG Germany would strike up with Betty again. The V8TT would be awesome.

Add one turbo V6 = loose one V8, so yes , as I said replaced one step at a time. Do you think the HRT/888 turbo wildcard entry won't be at the expense of a Super2 driver/car combo?

Like it or not people down here like the thunderous sound of a V8, and tin top racing became popular again at the demise of Group A and the domination of the turbo cars when V8 Supercars was born, but yeah, okay.

I don't personally care if it is at the expense of a Super2, the regs are opened up more allowing for better racing in the future more so than what we have and a potential to see less domination of one team, as well as a bigger welcome to manufactures.

As for the losing a V8 for a V6T, you're splitting hairs, you first said they'd be replaced, then went to one step at a time. It's hilarious, the site with the most avid disdain for T8, can't see through the rose tint long enough to realize that the rules may benefit the greater good of the sport by opening up the rules. So I find the Speedcafe poll ironic.

Once again nothing is being replaced, this isn't F1 where V8s aren't allowed, that's the definition of replacement. What you're defining is options, choice, a decision to run a V8, V6t or I4t. No where in there is a statement of "V8s will be replaced with yadda yadda"

It was popular during the long period from the 80s to early 90s when there were multiple manufactures and various engine parings. Group A was a short stint in the grand scheme, and only hated because a single car easily dominated. What I keep seeing is a cultural, emotional knee jerk, not all that different to here. I'm about the reality of things, it is going to happen, it should happen, so once again where is the rational reasoning for why it shouldn't?

Please read my original post again, I said...

You are putting words in my mouth, not sure where I ever said as a whole, I was referring to the sound, not the full field, so who's splitting hairs here.

Edit: You seem to think you know exactly what the Australian public both needs and wants. I say whatever floats your boat mate and turbos don't float mine. I'm also at a loss as to when you have ever asked me to explain the rational of this turbo versus V8 debate you mention in your last sentence before, a bit of a knee jerk reaction maybe?

I also presume you meant Group A was mostly dominated by two cars (Skyline and Sierra) and that the ATCC was no where near as popular during this turbo dominated period.

I read it right, and it still stands no one is replacing anything. The V8s will still live on, just other options for those who want to use the series as a selling point. So what words did I put in your mouth, I took what you said and the fact that I've seen plenty of what Speedcafe has to say and made a general statement on how silly it all is.

Sorry, I was editing my post when you replied. I said replacing the V8 rumble, you turned it into a blanket statement of the whole field being replaced.

That's what you made it seem like, when you there is no replacing that V8 rumble, it comes off sounding as if it's disappearing and what what succeeds isn't as good.

Awesome but unlikely
Awesome but even more unlikely
I've got no idea what they would possibly run. I do feel, if DJRTP can get the Team C'hip, Ford dealerships may step in. A Mustang could happen.

Maybe the Mondeo?

IMO I don't think what's coming is as good (speaking strictly sound wise), but I do understand it to be necessary, unfortunately. With the loss of both Holden and Ford RWD V8 4 door saloon production in Australia, the basis on what this championship was built and thrived on, something has got to give. It's very sad to see my favourite style of racing vehicle slowly going the way of the dinosaur for what to me just makes my ears bleed. I'm a V8 man through and through, always have been and always will be, but I can really see no other option than to change with progress if this race series wants to survive into the future. Any future is better than none at all, right?

We can all agree, the main thing we all want, is for the close racing to continue. That's the main result of this formula.

A format is yet to be confirmed, although the return of pitstop races on Friday and Saturday before a pre-grand prix sprint on Sunday has been mooted as a likely outcome.

Albert Park is expected to retain its position as the second Supercars event of the season following the Adelaide 500.

Supercars plans to have its full calendar finalised by September, with the new circuit in Tailem Bend, South Australia, and an Asian event both touted as possible additions.
If the Newcastle event is a success, the new tracks will add to an exciting season.

Good. The series needs more high quality tracks.

Don't think he will be bringing the SST to any more Supercars rounds
Not good. Gordon should know not to do anything fun or entertaining in Australia without the copious amounts of paperwork and what not that's needed just to do something relatively simple. This country is a nanny state so he should have known better.

Shame. May have been able to get Gordon involved with the Super Utes in some capacity. Guest drive or something. Oh well.

Let's be honest - all he has to do is prove to Peter Dutton that he's not a Labor-voting Muslim asylum seeker unionist and all of this goes away.

As long as you understand the reasoning, then that's all I hope to see for all fans. Yes, I agree it's sad but it's reality and that's all that matters in the end. I use to be a V8 guy then realized that what I really cared about was speed and fierce/close fighting. I've been given both to watch and that's all that matters to me, sound will be sound, and when the racing is this good you quickly forget that arbitrary bit. At least I do.

In the end that was my point, that any little bit of give or change is for the survival of a series many people love, and as long as they still strive for something different no one else in the world produces, I'm fine with it.
