Does football need video referees?

  • Yes - VAR is a success

Two things I want to mention.

Firstly there's a PL Friday night game tomorrow, so that means I post this a day early.

Saturday

Man United v Newcastle (5.30 BT)
Tottenham v Cardiff
Watford v Bournemouth

Sunday
Fulham v Arsenal (12pm BT)
Southampton v Chelsea (2.15 Sky)
Liverpool v Man City (4.30 Sky)

No early kick-off on Saturday, most probably because of the Friday night game.

BT have two games this weekend like last weekend, Three TV games on Sunday.

There is an International break after these games, and on that subject....

Southgate named his England squad this afternoon, and there are some changes/inclusions.

Firstly James Maddison gets his first call up, which is deserved. Ross Barkley gets a recall, as does Chalobah, Jadon Sancho also deservedly gets his first call up, as does Mason Mount who is currently on loan at Derby from Chelsea.

Alli misses out through injury, its a big squad with four goalkeepers.
 
Celtic's night has gone from great to horrible in the space of just 27 minutes... 1-0 up at RB Salzburg at half-time in the Europa League, they are now 3-1 down... and down to 10 men as well... the daft commentators on Radio Scotland put the Kiss of Death on them at half-time, saying things like 'If it stays 1-0, it will be one of Celtic's best wins in Europe' :ouch:

Also, a gem of an observation that 'when RB Salzburg score, they often go on to score 2 or 3...' - to be fair, it has turned out to be an accurate 'prediction', even though it is something of a truism that literally applies to every team who has ever played football, but never mind.

Much as I enjoy watching United suffer like this, I can’t see Jose lasting longer than a few minutes after the markets open on Monday.

Arsenal hammered Fulham 1-5 away from home as their impressive run continues, it was 0-1 at half time, Fulham have now conceded 21 goals in the league, which is the most.

Southampton v Chelsea is on now with the big game of the weekend between Liverpool and City on a bit later.

They'll be better than the trash they have this season I'll bet. Also pretty much all the manufacturers use templates now and Adidas have used an odd unique design for some kits, for certain clubs, over the last few years.

Also as a Man Utd fan, I think our kits by Adidas are certainly better than the average Nike ones we had previously, that's for sure.
 
Arsenal's away kit this season is very nice imo. For some reason the home kit is white shorts domestically and red shorts in the Europa League.

The new deal is the 3rd highest in the world at £60m p/a behind Barcelona and Man United.

Former United assistant Rui Faria has pulled out of the running for the Villa job, he says he is enjoying life outside Football and spending time with his family, which is the reason why he left the United assistants position last season.

Dwight Yorke has applied for the job and Brendan Rogers and Dean Smith are contenders for it.
 
Apologise for the double post but Aston Villa have appointed Dean Smith as their new manager with John Terry as his assistant.

Villa will have to pay compensation to Brentford with whom Smith spent three years as manager, Brentford are three points and eight places above Villa in the Championship.
 
Crystal Palace had a friendly at Dulwich Hamlet last night as a fundraiser for the non-league club who are in a bit of bother financially.

During the match the Dulwich goalkeeper found out that his car was getting towed from the grounds car park over the tannoy's announcements and had to sprint over at half time to move it. :lol:
