Anyhow... how do you all like the 2019-2020 season so far? Since we got Omnis here, I do think the Miami Heat and the Boston Celtics are doing pretty well so far this season. I don't think this Heat is as best as they were with LeBron, D-Wade, and Chris Bosh; but their current 9-3 record is nothing to joke about. Miami is tied with the Milwaukee Bucks in the Eastern Conference standings with only the 10-2 Boston Celtics with a better record.

Believe it or not, it is the Los Angeles Lakers with the best record in basketball with an 11-2 record. The other teams with double-digit wins so far are the Boston Celtics (10-2) and the Houston Rockets (10-3). The team with the worst record is the Golden State Warriors at 2-12. Worst in the East are the New York Knicks at 3-10. Golden State has also lost seven straight games of late.

So, the Houston Rockets just won against the Portland Trailblazers earlier in 2OT by 24 points!?

Last I checked, we won that one last night in 48 minutes, no Overtime needed against the Portland Trail Blazers. The Houston Rockets will go a Mile High for their next game, when they will be at the Denver Nuggets. Some think the Western Conference is wide open with the Golden State Warriors sinking and sinking. Honestly, I am sort of wanting to follow both the Los Angeles Lakers and the Los Angeles Clippers. Both L.A. teams have been seen as favorites in the West. So I want to see how they do.

By the way, Russell Westbrook knocked down another triple-double in his career last night in that big win.

Can you believe today marks 15 years since the "Malice at the Palace?" This was the mega-brawl that ensued when the Indiana Pacers played at the Detroit Pistons in Auburn Hills, MI. A hard foul led to some trash talking. Then... all Hell broke loose. Players fighting each other, some fan threw a beer at Ron Artest (then with IND) as he was lying on the commentary table, fans got involved, players being escorted off the court got doused with soda... All in all, it was one of the most disgraceful times in NBA history. All of this happening in 2004.

For a look at this infamous incident, here is an article on Yahoo! Sports: https://sports.yahoo.com/inside-the-malice-at-the-palace-154145992.html .

Neither Indiana nor Detroit play tonight. The Indiana Pacers have a record of 8-6 and are currently 6th in the Eastern Conference standings and 2nd in the Central Division. The Detroit Pistons are currently 4-9 on the season, 12th in the Eastern Conference standings and 4th in the Central Division.

@JohnBM01 well, I guess the results were just trolling when I saw it shortly after the game concluded.

By the way, it looks like the Warriors are really biting the dusts right now. They're currently on a 7-game drought and have already lost 12 games so far plus no division game won yet, a very far cry from what they have achieved the past five seasons. Who knows if that's only temporary or if that streak could go on for the worse. Still, loyal fans aren't happy to see their team wallow in mediocrity.

To be honest, back then, I used to have fun and celebration whenever I see them lose games but for some reason, I'm kinda starting to feel the opposite right now, maybe some pity and regret because they're not the same "invincible" team anymore. Well, what do you expect? No dynasties last forever.

The Spurs are also currently experiencing a struggling drought of their own. For the team, six games have already passed since they've last won a game. They might not be in the playoffs for the first time in more than 20 years once they're not able to clinch a seed before this season ends, which is sad for Coach Pop and his players if it will be inevitable for them.

On the other hand, surprisingly, teams like the Phoenix Suns and Dallas Mavericks have a better record than both of these two mentioned teams above at the moment. The previous season, they were only at the rock bottom of the Western Conference. But things look bright for them this season. Well, hopefully so.

Changing of the guard, eh? Times are a-changin'? Things just seem a lot different mostly.

I heard LeBron James recently became the first NBA player to record a triple-double against all 30 NBA teams. Love or loathe LeBron, that's an awesome accomplishment.

Meanwhile in Denver, my Houston Rockets' 8-game winning streak was snapped tonight in Denver. We failed 105-95 up in Mile High. The Rockets started out sleepwalking being down about 7-0 before going on a run that got us the lead. Another cool story is that Clint Capela of the Rockets put up 20+ rebounds for the fifth straight game, tying a franchise record. The Nuggets just went harder and better than the Rockets on this night. Our next game is at the Los Angeles Clippers on Friday night.

Next Thursday is Thanksgiving. This Thursday, though, is all about this lineup in the NBA:

* POR Trail Blazers at MIL Bucks (NBA on TNT)
* NO Pelicans at PHX Suns (NBA on TNT)

Two games tonight, one network. So if you want your fill of NBA action this Thursday night, you know where to turn. Milwaukee and Phoenix both have winning records at present. The Bucks are 11-3, and the Suns are 7-6. Both Portland and New Orleans have five wins each. Portland is 5-10, and New Orleans is 5-9.

Enjoy tonight's action!

The Warriors are doing the same things the Spurs did in the late 90s when David Robinson injured and next season they drafted Tim Duncan....

Just dropping in to mention that my fantasy team has both Luka Doncic and Giannis and I'm enjoying my life very very much.

The Warriors are doing the same things the Spurs did in the late 90s when David Robinson injured and next season they drafted Tim Duncan....
How'd you say so? While this isn't impossible, we're not sure yet if they'll drop to the last seed once the season ends and if they'll end up picking the #1 draft next year.

So with the Spurs' lost to the Wizards the other night, the team have lost 7 games in a row for the first time since 1996, a year before Tim Duncan was even drafted.

It looks like Kemba Walker is going to be sidelined indefinitely after colliding with teammate Semi Ojeleye on what seemed to be a headbutt towards his abdominal area. A hard hit it seems but Ojeleye looked rather pretty unharmed when it just occurred late in the 2nd quarter against Denver. The said injury was later diagnosed with symptoms that resemble concussions. After the game concluded, the Celtics just lost two games in a row, against the Clippers and now, the Nuggets.

...and meanwhile, the Houston Rockets concluded this two-game road trip with losses. They followed up failing at Denver 105-95 with a 122-119 fail at the Los Angeles Clippers on Friday night. I dozed off on Friday night to see the Rockets ahead 108-105 with about four minutes left in the game. And in typical ESPN/ABC "Always Hate Houston" fashion, or in typical Houston sports bad luck; we end up failing on a nationally-televised game in Los Angeles. Both Los Angeles teams won tonight, as the Lakers won 130-127 at Oklahoma City.

Congratulations to all other winners from Friday.

Earlier this morning, I saw a highlight package on local news here in Houston on how the Charlotte Hornets blew a five-point lead in just the final ten seconds of their game against the Chicago Bulls last night. It began with the Chicago Bulls hitting a three-pointer followed by Zach Levine knocking down a buzzer-beating three to sink the Charlotte Hornets at Charlotte.

I am NOT good with doing a post like this, nor do I do this often; but I'm going to try to embed the Tweet of what I just discussed for you to see. So check it:

Enjoy the NBA action today and tonight in the meanwhile.

So the Houston Rockets just blew their 10+ point lead after the 4th quarter, resulting into double overtime and a loss to the San Antonio Spurs.

The Rockets are now going to contest something. Had the dunk of James Harden been counted while the clock was 7:50 during the last quarter, they would have won the game.

Last night's game was poorly officiated between the Rockets at the Spurs. *Traditionally,* the Rockets get screwed over when we play the Spurs, Jazz, or Lakers. The main story and biggest disappointment is still to lose a game when you were up 22 points. Considering the James Harden dunk happened in regulation, the score would have counted and that the Rockets would have won in regulation. I would say that giving the Rockets the win despite the controversial call is what I'd want to see as the end result. However, we shouldn't make this like the NBA version of that Rams-Saints NFC Championship game from the previous season.

I meant to pop in here back on Saturday when James Harden dropped 60 points on the Atlanta Hawks in just three quarters. YIKES! If only the Houston Rockets can get it together and finally win a championship again instead of always having to play bridesmaid or never be good enough to be title contenders...

How do people feel about Kawhi outside of Toronto?

I got in to a debate with a few people on Twitter. People seem bent out of shape with how he left, but I never really got the impression that he was going to stay to begin with. Prior to last season I genuinely never thought the Raptors would win a championship. But in some ways it seems like that was already forgotten.

Personally I would lean towards retiring that jersey, but I understand that's pretty unprecedented for someone who only played for a team one year.

Personally, for some reason, it still stings me that he left the team last July, especially when he knew his future is bright in the East and that he's won a championship already with a Canadian team in the league for the first time ever.

But then again, a lot of us didn't even expect him to be there; it was just a give and take accident that happened with a trade from the Spurs. They had to dispose Kawhi immediately after he demanded for it but he never got to his preferred destination last year; the LA Lakers, probably because the Spurs learned then that LBJ signed a contract there, which is a good thing. Essentially, his contract with the Raptors was only a one-year rental so it was a gamble for Masai Ujiri, the team's manager.

However, his presence with the Raptors has already been special the moment they've entered the Finals, as he was a key to avenging and stopping the Warriors from a potential three-peat. Some naysayers would say that the Warriors had been riddled with injuries but nevertheless, Kawhi still did his job for the team.

Prior to his departure and signing with the Clippers, there were some articles that suggests Kawhi requested PG into the team. However, the Raptors denied his request because it would jeopardize some key players like Siakam and Vanvleet, prompting him to leave the team even if he's got a championship ring with them. Good thing he didn't sign with the Lakers though, because that's the worst imaginable thing that can happen in the league right now.

Maybe he also left the Raptors out of respect for DeMar DeRozan, who felt betrayed and is still upset he got traded, especially after the Raptors had defeated the Warriors in the last Finals. The guy has been in the Toronto club since 2009 but things never worked out for him at all.

So Luka Doncic has twisted his ankle after almost two minutes during the recent game against the Miami Heat, which they lost in overtime. His return in the upcoming games seems questionable. Also, he ended his 20-5-5 streak in 20 games. Still, that's a very impressive feat for a 20 year-old rising star who's currently attracting the attention of some sports analysts in the league.

So after watching this video around 3 days ago, I was starting to think about the Bucks' impressive 15+ game winning streak and see if it all really coincided against mediocre teams that had more losses when they faced them, aside from some notable exceptions, of course.

However, it looks like the streak had to stop at 18 after they faced the Dallas Mavericks YET without Luka. Oh well, it's also worth mentioning that Giannis and his teammates had been playing without Bledsoe recently, because he's out for two weeks with a leg fracture while Giannis had suffered a quad injury not more than five games ago. But with some key players like Lopez and Middleton struggling on their shots in this game, their fueled comeback attempt in the final quarter wasn't just enough.

Still, it seems the Bucks are going to have a more successful season than their previous one, that is, if they can cling on to dominating over some of their worthy opponents, not just mediocre ones. They'll be facing the Lakers this Thursday, who also faced their third loss of the season so far against the Mavericks.

It was funny that I visited San Antonio back on Sunday, yet the Houston Rockets welcomed the San Antonio Spurs last night. The black and silver boys put us in a hole of about 25 points. The Rockets rallied to win 109-107 last night thanks to James Harden and Russell Westbrook scoring a combined 59 points (Harden with 28, Westbrook with 31). We are 18-9 after this win on Monday. The Rockets are 2nd in the Southwest Division. The Spurs fall to 10-16 and are 3rd in the Southwest Division.

That epic showdown between the Dallas Mavericks and the Toronto Raptors earlier, where the latter still won with an unbelievable comeback done at the Scotiabank Arena without the likes of Norman Powell, Marc Gasol and rising star Pascal Siakam, even though they trailed by at least 30 points during one moment in the game as the Mavs were missing Luka, too.

For my Rockets, I am (of course) impressed with James Harden and Russell Westbrook. However, I am equally impressed with Ben McLamore. He's proven to be as solid a player as any other on the Rockets even without any superstar prowess. He has especially come alive of late. B. McLemore is as much a star for the Rockets at Danuel House Jr., Clint Capela, and P.J. Tucker.

So how are your favorite NBA teams doing so far, GTPlanet?

Meanwhile, also worth mentioning is that the Los Angeles Lakers have lost three straight games last night for the first time in this season after another skid against the Denver Nuggets, as LeBron James sat down with a thoracic muscle strain and a nagging groin issue, dropping the team's standing to 24-6 but still the leading seed in the Western Conference.

Moving on, here's a schedule of games in Christmas Day. Advanced Happy Holidays, everybody. :)

Christmas and basketball. What a combination! I seem most intrigued about the Celtics at Raptors match. I know I also said I was going to keep tabs on both Los Angeles teams. Really, all of the matches for Christmas 2019 are great games.

It is time I update the NBA standings as we head into Christmas. Nobody's playing on Christmas Eve, but we got a sweet five-game slate for you on Christmas. It's time to see where all of the NBA teams are at present standings-wise. Find your favorite team(s) here:

--- EASTERN CONFERENCE STANDINGS (as of Dec. 24, 2019) ---
ATLANTIC: Boston (20-7), TOR (21-9), PHI (22-10), BKN (16-13), NY (7-24)
CENTRAL: Milwaukee (27-4), IND (21-10), CHI (12-20), DET (11-20), CLE (9-21)
SOUTHEAST: Miami (22-8), ORL (13-17), CHA (13-20), WAS (9-20), ATL (6-25)
CURRENT EAST PLAYOFFS (Top 8): MIL, BOS, MIA, TOR, PHI, IND, BKN, ORL

--- WESTERN CONFERENCE STANDINGS (as of Dec. 24, 2019) ---
PACIFIC: Los Angeles Lakers (24-6), LAC (22-10), SAC (12-18), PHX (11-19), GS (7-24)
SOUTHWEST: Houston (21-9), DAL (19-10), SA (12-17), MEM (11-20), NO (8-23)
NORTHWEST: Denver (21-8), UTA (18-12), OKC (15-14), POR (14-17), MIN (10-19)
CURRENT WEST PLAYOFFS (Top 8): LAL, DEN, HOU, LAC, DAL, UTA, OKC, POR

Remember- there is still a LONG way to go. Teams playing well have to try to keep up their solid form. Those on the wrong side of the winning percentile still have a chance to improve their seasons. Don't assume we're going to have (for example) a Milwaukee Bucks vs. Los Angeles Lakers NBA Finals at this point. Lot of work still ahead. So keep playing hard!

I hope you enjoy the rest of this NBA season, including the five NBA matches on Christmas!
