What do you all think?

Big improvement. 👍 While you've got the crayons out. Can you please change the white Bendix bit on the front guards to red? Think it'll be all good after that.

Careful.

Ford have a history of withdrawing their funding if the cars are too red ;)

Sorry for taking so long but mum took my crayons away for the weekend due to an incident where I may have 'Larko'd' the driveway. ;)

Much, much better, imo. Thanks for taking the time to do that. 👍

👍!

It looks like a pig threw up on a disfigured horse

Any change will be a good one. There's no way they could possibly make it look any worse.

It's a shame, Supercheap Auto liveries have typically been pretty sharp until now. Hope these tweaks do it justice!

This could get really messy :nervous:.

Motorsport.com understands that the outcome of the post-Albert Park test is that both Ford and Holden teams are facing a mandated weight that will need to be added to the roof line of their cars.

The initial figure for the Mustang is around five times higher than that for the Commodore, however those numbers could well change before a final decision is reached.

The Nissan Altima is likely to remain unchanged.

If Supercars do go through with this I hope they're going to recheck the cars afterwards to make sure they've got it right... and isn't the Nissan somewhat irrelevant.

Thank goodness for TCR. I could also add NZV8s.

Anyway, hoping the next gen of cars use the MARC chassis(in jest). Clearly, can't leave designing control chassis to anyone currently in the series.

Although the magnitudes have not been disclosed, Supercars has confirmed that the testing proved the Mustang and Commodore both had a COG advantage over the Nissan Altimas.

The Mustangs and Commodores will therefore run with adjusted ballast from Symmons Plains, placed higher in the cars to raise their COG to meet that of the Nissan.

tl;dr Altima sucks, Mustang and Insignia handicapped.

I'm sure the teams will have fun arguing about parity now.

Where's the shrugs shoulders emoji?

Let's be real this isn't going to help the Nissan's so nothing will change there.

Words of wisdom from Rick Kelly?!?! What's going on :sly:.

“This probably should have been looked at or done before the Commodore came on the program with all carbon panels at the start of last year and it certainly should have been done before the Mustang hit the track just like the aero was done,” he added.

“Good on the category for getting onto it, and eventually doing something about it.”

And this blatant lie from Sean Seamer;

It is important to note the constitution of Supercars includes the premise that incoming models must meet the incumbents. The purpose of this is to ensure those new models do not unduly increase the costs for current teams in pursuit of technical parity.

https://www.speedcafe.com/2019/03/27/supercars-approves-ford-holden-centre-of-gravity-tweaks/

What's that you say Mr. Seamer?!?! After the ZB was given 'special dispensation' to run (illegal to the categories rules) composites that gave it an CoG benefit, that even with the composite roof and bonnet, could not be matched be Ford or Nissan. That did unduly increase costs to those two teams and they couldn't do the B and C pillar, plus the boot due to.... yep you guessed it.... the cost factor /end rant.

*cough* marccarscosteffective *cough* :sly:

I say make them run GT4 cars with the same drivetrains they are using now.

Ford teams statements, and of particular interest (well to me anyway) an extract from DJRTP's statement. To bad it wasn't adopted then, it may have quelled some of the feelings of bias from the non-Holden fans (myself included).

“Last week we proposed that an alternative process be formalised to determine the CoG of the three individual body shapes within the series and have committed to submitting a proposal on how this could be achieved, which is in line with a similar proposal we put forward last year. Under this proposal, all parts, panels and components as homologated under each car’s VSD (vehicle specification document) would be collectively balanced under the principle of technical parity.

Apparently they're still looking into the Mustangs so-called aero advantage as well .

They should have just made the Nissan faster instead of slowing down the Mustang.
The Ford and Chev V8s are 25 years proven. With the lone DOHC Patrol engine, VASC could have given them an 8000rpm fuel cut and removed weight. VASC have always looked bad with doing these knee jerk reactions.

Anyway, if even Ford teams signed off on this new CoGswell Cogs rule, fans just have to sit and watch to see the effects next week.

Edit: What a sneaky way to implement success ballast.

Have any of you listened to the Below the Bonnet podcast? I don't normally go for that kind of stuff but I found it very interesting. They brought up some interesting things in Ep. 2 about CoG (Ford may have had as much as 120 kgs ballast ) and the Parc Ferme rules for the next round. Of particular interest about the next round, and something I hadn't thought about, was the curve ball that the possibility of rain could have to predicting race set-ups... and showers are forecast for the track region from Wednesday to at least Saturday.

It's worth a listen :). https://au.motorsport.com/v8supercars/news/below-the-bonnet-podcast-reynolds-caruso/4358048/

We could end up with a situation like what happened in the 2008 Italian Grand Prix. It could get very interesting.

Just gonna double post here after going down a rabbit hole on Instagram and finding out that the real SuperUtes are actually over Argentina. The cars we ended up with are probably slower than your average tradie on a Bunnings run.

They look just as much modified as the NASCAR Trucks over in the USA.

This is what we'd end up with if the Supercar teams had to race V6 utes & look like they'd end up just as expensive as the Supercars.

Sneak peek of Chaz's new livery. Ffs they left the Castrol green bit :banghead:.
