The logic being he had a similar meeting after the Liverpool loss giving him 3 games to turn it around. It clearly hasn’t turned around. That said, the board are largely clueless so who knows what will actually happen.

If it was true that he had 3 games, then next decision is going to be a true reflection of the board. The last 3 games can describe Ole. 1 win, 1 draw, 1 loss. Mediocre.

And inconsistent, which has been the case for much of his tenure. I had hoped he would turn it round with the right signings and I think he has had those now, he certainly has been backed financially, so he’s out of excuses. He steadied the ship after Jose and lifted the spirits well, but that’s about it. He has reached his ceiling and it looks like we have peaked under him. As bad as the board are, we need a better manager regardless.
 
Disappointed that Villa have let Smith go. Seemed to be the perfect man, being a Villa fan, with family connections to the club. Results talk though, and they see what is also going on behind the scenes.

Same can be said for Farke at Norwich, but I thought the Farke sacking was a bit cruel after their first win. You could see how much if meant to the players to get the win. After such a start it will be difficult for anyone to keep them up, and what they will likely need is a manager to get them out of the Championship, which Farke has done already. ;)

If United want to change the manager then this is the perfect time because there is two weeks till the next game.

So for me its either the sack Ole in the next day or two and then they'll have time to bring someone (unless they have a replacement ready, which I seriously doubt!) or Ole stays for the rest of the season.
 
Eddie Howe is new Newcastle manager, it was announced earlier, there was a delay over his backroom staff but that was sorted, seems like a quite good appointment.

Its been reported that Frank Lampard has had talks with Norwich over the position there but no decision has been made yet, Steven Gerrard and Roberto Martinez are on the shortlist for the Villa job.

As for United and Solskjaer, well officially there is no news but its been reported that its unlikely he will get the sack, our fan base has been really toxic on social media since the game on Saturday and now there are plans for another protest outside Old Trafford on Saturday and that will be protesting against the Glazers and Ole, Ole has flow to Norway with his family for a few days and the players who are not on international duty have been given a few days off.

Away from managerial news Emile Smith Rowe has had his first call up to the England squad, its well deserved and he wasn't selected originally but Marcus Rashford has pulled out to work on his fitness after a bout of flu last week (not that flu!) Ward-Prowse has also withdrawn due to injury and Luke Shaw has delayed joining up with the squad because of concussion protocols, he took a blow to the head on Saturday and had to be subbed off.

Eh. His managerial record thus far doesn't really fit the bill for their probable relegation or as someone who can manage to save the day, considering he didn't get Derby going despite a relatively expensive squad and his middling results with a Chelsea team that ended up winning the UCL that year.

Very magnanimous of Lampard to stick a relegation on his CV. No idea why he is being sought when Lampard himself couldn't get out of the Championship whilst Daniel Farke dominated it twice.

The guy who invented the phrase Ole's at the wheel and wouldn't shut up, rubbing his hands whilst shouting "MAN UNITED ARE BACK!", is now calling for Solskjaer to be sacked. He's now saying that he never thought Ole was capable of winning the title with Man United.

Is he allowed to change his mind? Sure, absolutely. Just be honest about it. 🤬ing liar. Crap, hypocritical punditry really bothers me and if that's the bar, any single one of us in this thread would be ten times better as a paid professional pundit.

Aston Villa get Steven Gerrard as their new Manager

Rangers are the big losers here, but I suppose Gerrard has done what he was signed for there - win the League - so it'll be a harmonious leave.

Not for the fans it won't. A manager quitting while their team is top of the league and taking his coaching staff with him is going to smart.
 
Gerrard to Villa seems like a good move for him, Villa play Liverpool at Anfield in just four weeks!

Still nothing regarding the Ole/United situation, seems like he will keep his job for now, Brendan Rodgers has been linked with the job quite heavily in the last couple of days.

Premier League has announced the season schedule for next season which was important because of the World Cup, season will start slightly earlier on 6th August and finish on 28th May, the season will stop on 14th November (almost a year from now) and resume on 26th December, the World Cup final is on 18th December leaving just an eight day gap...

I've learned to lower expectations. A degree in journalism and journalist integrity is not required in this brave new world of punditry. It's all reactionary. It's no better than the fan channels on YouTube. Hell, I watch Charles Barkley provide punditry on the NBA. Knucklehead. :lol:

You can be a footballer with an opinion, that's all the qualifications pretty much any of the great pundits* had, but you have to be interesting and consistent, willing to stand by your statements.

Ferdinand is a boneheaded egomaniac without any scruples or convictions.

*Examples; Clough, Dunphy, Hansen, Neville, Carragher for English-language commentary.

You mean the guy who jumped out of a training ground window and ran away, lying about his whereabouts, specifically to skip a drug test, resulting in a less serious penalty than "if" he'd have failed (and who was disgracefully allowed back into the England squad, and as captain, afterwards) is somehow capable of not telling the truth even about his own opinions?

Pisses me off that the EFL seems to target a team to **** up each season, unjustly relegating Wigan in 2020 (after their "fit and proper persons test" didn't reveal the club had been sold to someone who doesn't exist) and us in 2021 (after telling us that selling our ground to ourselves [sorta] was okay), when Derby has been clearly manipulating FFP with this ******** amortisation accounting for five years - and ignoring other clear breaches of FFP like Aston Villa and Norwich - but at least they're on target this time.

Nasty club (not as nasty as Cardiff) of charlatans. Richly deserved. Hope it taints Rooney for all time.
 
So apart from some South American qualifiers tonight this international break is done, I was happy about this for about a two seconds until I realised who I supported, then I just got a sense of dread...

Two big games tomorrow, and two intriguing games on Sunday.
 
I don't know if points deductions are the answer. We were the first club to be deducted 10 points for entering administration (December 2004). I have felt that whilst they do punish the owners to some extent, points deductions unfairly punish the fans more; asset strippers usually don't care where the club is on the pitch or in the table.

I am talking generally and not about FFP breakers specifically. Too many clubs have been willfully mismanaged for too long. I don't know how league administrations and national associations are able to punish club owners, the direct mismanagers, without punishing the fans.

Eddie Howe will miss his first game in charge of Newcastle after a positive Covid test, Kevin De Bruyne has also has a positive test and will miss City's game v Everton.
 
Harry Maguire's passage of play that got him sent off is absolutely disgraceful. Shamefully inept play.

A one-legged player without crutches would have done better.

I still don't get it. ManU had 2 weeks to make a decision on the coach, yet they choose to stay with Ole. Now, if they sack him, they have 2 or 3 days to get a new coach to get ready for the UCL game.

The Glazers do own the Tampa Bay Buccaneers... a team that literally has the worst total win percentage in NFL history. Just looking at the 25 years of their ownership, the Buccaneers have gone to the playoffs 8 times. So I'm sure they know how to run a successful team. :rolleyes:
