Then T8 forgot to uninstall it and fit the proper size restrictor for the whole of the season so far.
That's the part that's confusing to me. Get lent a part, install said part and then forget about it for six months. I'm not mechanically minded either (ironic considering my father was a mechanic lol). Would have thought this would have been something that would be caught during an engine change? Unless the #888 hasn't had an engine change so far this year.

I’m not very mechanically minded, is this something could only be spotted in a full rebuild type inspection?
The restrictor is in the air box just in front of the throttle body, so it's not part of the engine, it's part of the air box.

From what I've read the engine has been dyno'd twice (by T8 and Supercars) but as they don't use the cars actual air box and use a dyno specific one it's been missed.

Unfortunately for Will the car hasn't been scrutinized at a track yet (they're not DJRTP 😉) because that would've picked it up.

It just plain shouldn't have been left in by T8.

Edit for clarification: I didn't know this (the bold bit). I rang my brother (who's a mechanic) to talk about some details about him buying my GT-P so I used up one of my phone a friends while I was at it :D

I was going to make a smart ass comment like 'So that's how they do their pitstops so quick... they've been deliberately fuel saving. DQ them!', but I wasn't sure people would pick up that it was a joke.

Still just find it weird that the team itself completely forget about it after installing it. But I suppose there is a lot they would have to go over before and after race weekends. So it probably was easily missed.

Is it an illegal part? Could be a case for excluding Brown from all the races so far. J/k :dopey: :sly:

Hell yeah. Should have gotten rid of it years ago but I won't complain.

Supercars is exploring means to remove time-certain finishes from as many races as possible in the future.

V8 Sleuth has learnt the item has been tabled at Commission level, with the general consensus in favor of ridding the rule - which has forever been a bugbear of fans - from at least the events exclusively broadcast by Fox/Kayo.

Funnily enough I can’t actually remember the last time Time Certainty has been a thing cause there’s been so few Safety Cars during races lol

I hate it. All the character defining moments have been removed and replaced with a series of chicanes.

It's pretty much the same layout that's been kicking around for ages except the two corners after The Senna Chicane have slightly different profiles.

But yeah, I hate it too... and I'm huge MotoGP fan. I just don't think we should have a MotoGP race that's totally detrimental to the Supercars race. Malinauskas has gone too far with this one. If it was going to be in SA at all (I'd prefer it stay at Phillip Island. Love that track!), then MotoGP should've been at The Bend.

Look how they massacred my boy. I don't think it's fair for FIM to step on the toes of Supercars and ruin a great track. Isn't Phillip Island good enough? Can't we put a stop to this? I want my turn 8 back!

I wouldn’t be surprised if Supercars themselves are all for it, they get a big flashy new sporting venue, with modern corporate facilities.

Though to be fair, there are plans to bring the walls closer and add proper curbing for the Grand Final. If that’s any consolation for you.

It reeks of a political campaign to get one back on Melbourne for “stealing” the F1 Grand Prix.

I want to try and reserve proper judgement until we see this layout in action. But I'm not feeling it at all with the staircase and turn 8 gone. Don't think it'll have the same presence anymore.

Suddenly is just another generic street circuit.

Senna Chicane will be ruined too 👎, and I'm not confident they'll change anything at all between races.

We were treated to a really good day of racing today! So much side-by-side racing and a very well deserved win for Will Brown.

Whole lot of Mustang cup going on at the front. Hopefully the others can get in there and mix it up a bit for the last race.

I hate to bring up the P word, but Chaz the only non-Ford to make the shootout is disappointing. Not necessarily a GM fan, but I do prefer some variety.

Yeah, thank goodness at least Chaz is sort of up there. To stop it being a complete blue wash.

The Camaro has been tweaked twice now? Probably would be hard to argue about giving them another boost. Now the new the Toyota engine is in play though. They could be inline for some sort of adjustment before the enduros.

Personally I'm a little less bothered about the amount of Mustangs since there's at least a good team spread, there's genuinely 4, maybe 5 teams that can win a race any weekend, which is greta compared to recent years.

Ooft. That's devestating for Payne. Sprint cup looks gone now.

And here it is. The final design:

Very similar to the earlier concepts, only this one doesn’t utilise Wakefield Street at all.

If I have to say anything positive about this, it’s that the Adelaide Motorsport Festival should get a little more of a substantial short circuit layout now.

This new track will force the removal of many trees which is not going to sit well with the locals. Why couldn't they have just used the original GP circuit? Not only is it taking away some famous corners, it's taking greenery away from the parkland. It absolutely stinks because it seems soo unnecessary. Everything is ruined.

There already is a lot of support for the parklands to remain as they are. I’m honestly not sure if it’s just a vocal minority, it’s hard to gauge true public sentiment these days. But people are already fired up, given the tree removals in North Adelaide for the golf course.

I understand why MotoGP can’t use the old GP layout, it just would not be safe for them. The question should be, why not The Bend? Why not Phillip Island?

I'll give them credit in being able to make the track wider for the bikes, so it's not a complete death trap. Do hope the Supercars layout is narrower though.

The differences between the two

They’ve closed in the barriers around a fair few portions of the track to give a ‘street circuit’ feel I guess, and have sharpened some of the apexes, looks like Turn 11 will be Turn 8-esque.

I reached the acceptance stage of grief for the current circuit already lol, trying to be positive about this, and honestly I think the racing should be pretty decent. If we think of how good the racing is at Albert Park, with it being wide, high grip, and fast, I think the racing should be quite good here too, particularly with the ‘grand final’ style of racing in mind.

Originally I was really hoping that we’d see some sort of middle ground between the two circuits, like, have the new first and last sectors, it keep the Staircase and Turn 8, but I guess it is what it is. Hated the final few turns of the original concept, but the with the new one, I think the sharpened 12,13 and 14 should create a pretty fantastic passing spot for the end of the lap.

In all honesty, I share your sentiments. I don’t think the new track will be awful but it will pale in comparison to the current layout. The Gen 3 cars race well on high grip surfaces, like you said.

Not sure I’m quite completely over the change though. To be fair, it’s a place that I hold dear in my heart. I’ve been there over 20 times, I’ve sat in just about every grandstand, I have my favourite spots to watch the cars (the exit of Turn 5 is underrated) and my favourite little quiet areas to get away from the noise for a bit.

I'm feeling rather conflicted right now. I hate that the old layout will go because it did provide more of a challenge compared to what we see here, but if it looks as good as it does in reality, it will be HUGE for MotoGP and Adelaide. Ultimately, the racing product will decide whether this succeeds or fails.

Camaro gets a third aero adjustment for the year. As if they needed anything prior to the enduros, especially with the straight line advantage they have at Bathurst but whatever. Toyota doesn't get anything despite also hitting the parity trigger.
