I feel like first lap safety cars often are a recipe for dull races, eliminates the opportunity for close quarters squabbling in the early laps, and often affects strategy flexibility, its usually best if they fall over each other slightly deeper into the race lol
 
Good news for BJR. Because without Andre they currently would be nothing more than back markers. Was half expecting PremiAir to make a run for him. Seriously doubt that Fraser is going to be back next year and Andre with Ojeda would have a real nice pairing. Interesting to see where they go now. There aren't too many options out there this year, unless they go for someone from Super2.

GRM with a one off return to the series. With wildcard entry for Bathurst. Only thing that could have made this better, was if they were able to get Tander in the car for one finale time. I'll take it as it is though, especially in the old school Valvoline colours. Beautiful. 😍

So weird GRM aren't on the grid full time. The car looks the part. Nearly feels like one of those cars that steadily creeps up the field for the win.
 
Camaro's still struggling in qualifying making it Mustang cup at the front minus a Toyota or two.
 
That was a fun race! The differing tyre strategies created some tense fights. Not sure what Kostecki was doing with that chop down in Allen, but the resulting safety car made for a good finish.

Parity aside, it’s crazy how competitive the field is at the moment. Is there any other professional road racing series this close?

This was widely predicted before the season even started.

Camaro's will struggle until Chev decide to spend the money to lure a top tier team, otherwise they've only got one and half good drivers in the sixth best team (with the rest all in team building stage).

I'm pretty sure everyone want all brands fighting for the wins but that's the harsh reality ATM, unfortunately.

Edit: And don't ever change Ryan Wood! I love the way this guy attacks everything in his path, especially his first lap antics. He reminds me of a young Garth Tander or James Courtney in that respect.

I'd never suggest stage cautions or anything, but jeez a mid to late race safety car makes the races so much more exciting. I actually liked that Kai had a proper crack at Brodie, he's like SVG in the way that most drivers are too scared to give it back to him.

Don't want to be a party pooper but this isn't actually the offical livery or anything, it's was just Speedcafe looking for clicks by jumping the gun, which is typical of Speedcafe nowadays sadly. They did mention in the article that the render has been made for the article, but they know that people aren't going to read into the article that.

Like sure, the real thing will be based off the 2000 car, but its never going to be full recreation like this, some of the sponsors on this car don't actually seem to exist anymore.
 
Some decent racing/overtaking yesterday, and credit where credit's due goes to Team 18 for once again using great strategy to get Anton on the podium. Kai Allen's drive through the pack was superb and another highlight.

Also, sad to see DJR shoot Brodie in the foot again. If they keep this up he might be the one for GM to chase.

I hope this new engine package solves Toyota's issues before the enduro's.

Obviously still a long way to go and double obviously anything can happen as we saw last year. But Payne, Feeney, Allen seem like a lock for the final four. The final spot is going to be good. Waters, Kostecki or Anton. I'd lean towards Kostecki getting it, just as long as DJR don't continue to shoot themselves in the foot. Brown doesn't have the qualifying pace. Mostert and Wood's reliability is questionable and Le Brocq or Golding will probably be just happy enough to make the ten.

Really looking forward to the enduros just to see how the Toyota's handle a long distance. Straight line speed at Bathurst too, will be interesting.

Yeah, I never understood why Castrol ending backing two cars in two completely different teams. It was confusing as a kid. :lol: Also fun fact, if you didn't already know. Matchbox released both of those cars back in the day. I still have them along with Larko's Mitre 10 Falcon.

Unsurprising but now that's it's confirmed. Heimgartner/Fullwood are a decent dark horse for the enduros. Probably fair to say that for portions of last year Bryce was as quick, if not quicker than Andre. Ad if the Toyota's upgraded engine can hold together for the distance. Reckon they could be well in the mix.

So, my take is Supercars lent an undersized restrictor to T8 to install for an pre-season launch event. Then T8 forgot to uninstall it and fit the proper size restrictor for the whole of the season so far. End of. Oh, how the mighty have fallen!

If I was Will Brown I'd be furious.

How could this happen? I can barely believe that a team of Triple 8's calibre missed this. Incredible.
