A 1-2 would have been cool but again who would have thought we'd see a Toyota win so soon into the season. And what an awesome moment for Wood.

Edit: The cool down room was a bit awkward.

That was a nerve racking last few laps. I’m so happy for Woody, really good drive from him.

And yeah, cool down room had a bit of a different vibe to this morning’s.

Figured I should share this here, since it's very much Supercars related!!

We had a chat to Bea Vear, who used to work for Supercars and is currently working for Team 18 as Dave Reynolds' engineer!

There's a lot of unfiltered, behind the scenes talk about the more technical and data side of Supercars, so if that's up your alley then have a listen!

I'm pretty sure everyone saw this coming, and I think it's ridiculous to go back to the parity trigger formula when the teams are so obviously lop sided in the talented driver stakes. Team 18 and the other GM teams need to be honest with themselves and face up to the fact that they were nowhere with an advantage so they'll be nowhere without one.

Hopefully sanity prevails, as it has in the case of the Supra (which still needs a bit of straight line engine parity IMHO), because this would be a sporting parity adjustment if it's allowed. I mean, they spent all that money to finally get the GM equalized with the other brands and now they want to change the balance to unequal between brands again? FFS!

I also find it odd that Toyota have hit the parity trigger with how well they've performed out of the box. They've certainly outperformed where I thought they'd be.

Think I'd be more inclined to agree that some changes be made, if GM hadn't won a race this year. But they have and ultimately I think they just have to face facts that aside from Team 18 (or lets face it, Anton) occasionally pulling a good result. They don't have the cattle to compete on the regular with the majority of the Fords and the Walkinshaw Toyotas. Unless they are able to poach a star driver or team in the near future. That isn't going to change.

This, by Barry Ryan, is spot on.
Speaking on Fox Sports’ Motor Racing 360, Ryan was asked whether Chevrolet teams deserved an adjustment, to which he replied, “Probably not.”

He added: “At the end of the day, I’ll be totally honest, we haven’t got any A-grade drivers.

“Some of the drivers won’t like hearing that, but they’re not A-grade drivers. We haven’t got multiple winners in our GM camp.”
This (⬇️) is cry me a river stuff when Ford has had to modify their car so many times going all the way back to the Mutantstang through to this year with barely a change to a Holden or Camaro.
The net result of the changes to the Camaro for Erebus Motorsport is a clean set-up sheet.

Edit: Also interesting if true, is that the Supra is now the benchmark for homologation.

“This aerodynamic difference was evident in the Windtunnel results and now further substantiated with vehicle track data.
WTF?!? Why was it signed off on if it was evident?
“Further testing and CFD will be undertaken in the coming weeks and you are reminded Supercars reserve the right to reverse, revise or modify the changes for the next two rounds.”
And this (⬆️) gives me no confidence at all. Sooo, if this (sporting) parity adjustment goes to far we might wind it back a bit?

So much for the "we have parity" statement after the wind tunnel test, I guess.

Still don't think this will change up the grid too much. Probably.

Crazy start to that one with the false safety car. But it all worked out in the end to a good finish. I'm surprised they let Brown keep doing laps with the underside of his car threatening to depart at any moment.

Just finished watching. Nice to see different winners. BJR must have the biggest repair bills in the history of motor racing. Doesn’t matter who are in their cars.

What are we at now. 5 winners from 10 races?

Hopefully this keeps up. Been quite an entertaining start to the season.

Stoked for Kai, really feels like the sport has a boom of young talent right now, Supercars just desperately need to market them and capitalise on it.

I really like the layout for Ruapuna, as difficult to pass as I imagined though. The undercut for track position seemed the obvious way to go.

Edit: How outdated the track is is a little eye opening though, the earth bank tyre walls on high speed corners give me Phillip Island flashbacks, the isolated Marshall points are like the old ones at Winton and PI too. Also the wall on the left of the main straight has a worryingly blunt end to it. I know they're putting money into facilities but they could also put a bit of money into the track as well. I remember John McIntyre had a pretty major shunt here back in the V8 SuperTourer days, and was critical of the safety features of the place.

edit again: Richard Craill is a such a pro, slid so smoothly into the role. Chad Neylon is great too, but he has his quirks that might not necessarily lend himself to some of the audience. I feel like critics of Craill are more just folks who dislike change.

When I heard Richard Craill I thought "Oh god, not this guy again" but I have to say, he's much better than Chad Neylon. His calls were right on the money and made Tander sound very unprofessional.

Was hoping that Woody had used up all his bad luck last year. But apparently not.

****.

I dunno man. That was 50/50, but I thought stewards were letting them punch on.

My heart sank when he came back on track in the dust, genuinely could've been one of the worst accidents we've seen.

I like the fella but that was absolutely lousy by Mostert.

Love how comfortable Matt Payne seems now, he's always been a bit of character but now he lets it out a bit more.

His reactions in the cool down room are consistently gold

Sucks for Wood. To lose it on something as simple as a sensor going out is unbelievably bad luck.

And I'm a Mostert fan, but I think he got off lucky with the 30 second penalty on that move.
