Video from GVE-R. A tight battle as always. Nic made a shady pass on lap 7 which ended up costing both he and Yuri a bid for the lead. I'm not a big fan of attempting a pass on this part of the track because of how much it slows you down on the uphill. Maybe Nic learned his lesson with that one. Yuri was right on my bumper prior to them making contact.
Sorry chuy, but if I tell anyone my line, then everyone will copy it! I was running mid 39's the whole time, until I hit the sand, and caused my tires too burn up. Oh well. GVE-R was fun while I was up top. Yuri did epic work on Deep Forest, that put me dead last, but I battled back too 5th place.
I don't know what happened there BTK...momentary lapse I think. Sorry about that. I didn't save the replay so I'm not sure what happened but I remember hitting you as you were outside and ahead of me in the last corner. I think I just cooked the brakes a bit too hard. My fault entirely.
I wasn't sure what happened at GVE-R Chuyler, but remembered I'd saved the replay. It was shaping up to be a great three way finish and I was preparing where to make my move as my Tarmac was slightly underpowered but handled rather well. I don't have any complaints about Nic, but if I had a wish list I'd just wish people in general would be more selective about where they pass and when to commit to a pass. Getting your front bumper ahead of someone's back bumper doesn't entitle you to keep that outside or inside lane. You need to be at least to the drivers door according to GTPLanet, and for me personally, I usually won't commit to racing side by side in a corner unless I'm nose to nose by the turn in. Obviously I'm not perfect, I screw up as often as anyone...lol..as BTK can attest...but it's usually from driver error.
A lot can be said for being patient as well. One of the things I really like about these 450pp nights is that the races are long enough to be able to strategize as opposed to the usual short online sprints where you just go balls to the wall for 3-5 laps. At AR Mini for example, I noticed BTK was fast ahead of me but was very loose and powersliding and burning up his tires pretty bad, so instead of pushing for the lead I hung back about a second, checked to make sure no one was pressuring me, and saved my tires for 12 laps or so. I closed the gap a bit to let him know I was still there and on lap 14 he got his wheel slightly on the grass/dirt in the esses and lost control for a second and I was lucky enough to slip by.
I did pretty much the same thing at Tsukuba where I hung back behind Nic I think it was, and watched him for a few laps and I noticed he was going from track edge to edge every corner and figured he was either perfect or pushing really hard to stay ahead and had the potential for a mistake. Sure enough on lap 7 I believe, he went a bit wide in the last hairpin and I slipped by. We passed and repassed cleanly a couple of times after that but the straightline power of the FTO eventually won the day.
All in all though, I'd say there is a great group of very clean racers in this room, and anyone reading these posts here, you have to realize that you are seeing 3 or 4 comments about questionable driving from 50+ laps of extremely close racing between 14-16 drivers in different cars on different tracks. In your typical online lobby you could have three or four complaints per lap...lol.
