How is a LFA a toyota?

That would be like me taking out an Audi R8 on Volkswagen night. (if there is one)

Heck, since lambos are owned my volkswagen too, I could take out a gallardo then.

Unless this is some pre-determined "ok". There are a lot of toyotas in the game. I don't see a need to add any lexus. Well, there are some cars that are basically the same, or are sold as toyotas in other areas, but the LFA is not.

This has been an ongoing discussion about the network bugs in the game. Johnny, you may have to clear your cache and/or reset your modem and router.

Chuyler: That day I was having problems, I reset my router and cleared my cache 3 times... and I still wasn't seeing everyone. Not to mention kept getting disconnected.

Isn't the LFA a Lexus? I know Lexus is made by Toyota...but on Toyota Tuesday I would expect drivers to pick an actual Toyota. Plus the LFA is like 550pp isn't it?

Somebody seriously brought an LFA for 450pp ? not a good idea :)

I would count the FT86 in though.. its the next tuner car IRL.

The FT86 has been banned for quite some time. It was found to be too awesome early on. Not really sure why, but it is super fast at 450pp.

Yep, I have one which is pretty fast.. Maybe we should do a FT86 cup sometime 💡

The only reason the LFA isnt a Toyota branded car is marketing.I believe that it was originally going to be the new Supra but Toyota wanted to push a performance division (like AMG,BMW M) of Lexus so the LFA became a Lexus.

Now before any more people get their panties in a knot i never intended to race the LFA.I tuned it way down by adding 150kg and turned the power to 50% to try it out.I was planning on running 3-4 laps and then switch cars and see how the times compared but the auto timer started and i didnt want to get caught in loading screen limbo.I had no idea that i was 2 sec a lap faster until the race started and the sector splits came up.

LFA was intended to be the next supra, but it just took toooo long to develop and they ended up with an unexpected R&D budget. They didn't even want to sell the car in the beginning :)

They say there will also be a toyota version of the car soon, cheaper..

The FT86 is going to be a Scion from what I heard. It's a quick car on 450 night but not unbeatable like the NSX or Evora/Elise.

In general, I like to see competition on the track. If you pull a 3 second lead on the first lap against a grid of 10-16 racers it is most likely because of the car, not your driving. If that's what you want to get out of this game then by all means keep racing the car...but if you want to enjoy some wheel to wheel competition, find a car that puts you at a handicap level comparable to the other drivers on the track. That's why you'll see me in a '83 Lancer...not because I intend to win in it, but because it puts me mid-pack where I can battle with drivers.

Yeah, I don't understand what fun/gain it would be to drive a car that smokes the field. If you are either that good, or the car is that much better than the rest, it might be a good idea to pick something else.

And it might not be my place, because I'm pretty new, but there needs to be some more common sense used in the races. It seems some people are too desperate to make passes. Between mad dashes into the first corner and ill advised "dive bombs" into a corner, people need to remember that it's your responsibility to make a clean pass. Most these races are longer than your average pickup race, so there's time to setup your overtake. If you can't get yourself inside *before* the corner, back off and setup a pass another time. Wrecking someone else because you are desperate to get by shouldn't be acceptable, no matter if it's the first corner, or the last corner on the last lap.

All good comments Bahnzo. We often have to remind people to re-read the GTP OLR. I like to remind people to "respect qualifying". In other words, the guy in front of you can likely run faster laps than you and you might learn something from following him. See if you can keep up first, worry about passing later. If you try to pass on the first turn and you push him off the track in the process, you won't learn anything and your win would be tainted.

Sometimes I intentionally start at the rear. It usually takes less than a lap to make it to the front with the battling cars bouncing off the track left and right in front of me. I think everyone would have a chance at winning the race if they could just focus on maintaining their position through the first couple of turns instead of trying to overtake. You have to remember that with cold tires, you won't be able to take the turns at the same speeds as your last qualifying lap.

Right, I think you need at least a 1/2 lap before your tires really warm up. But people also need to understand that when you are following another car, you need to usually brake a little earlier than you normally would. So many incidents are simply someone following another car, and not braking early enough to avoid ramming them.

Also, it should be remembered that a car that is quick for qualifying doesn't necessarily drive well in the race. Most people have a quick setup for a hotlap, and on a certain line. But when faced with having to pass or be passed and drive a different line...that fast, loose car can't handle the different line and causes problems. It's worth sacrificing some of that oversteer to have a stable car that won't swap ends when you can't drive that perfect line thru a corner.

Yep.

Turn 1 of any track, your tires are cold, you've got more speed than the car in front due to draft, and there is a car to your outside/inside. You need to carve out a line that only uses half the track with half the grip.

I'm serious when I say most of the people in the lobby could have a chance at winning the race if they could just make it 1/2 a lap without hitting anyone or driving off track. You don't even need full throttle most of the time because the draft will pull you along.

Good thing I didn't make it to Toyota night(worked late), I had bought a brand new FT86, work in the engine and preparing it for the occasion, would have had to park it outside if i had showed up. It's a damn good car though.

For anyone doing Nurb Night, there is a PSN update, you need to install. Mandatory.

This +100000

The last race of the night was a little sketchy. I know iforce was just testing the lfa and the race started do he didn't want to get caught changing cats and miss the race.
Everyone else keep asking and buging me about using a lexus since they ate the same so I gave in. I really don't see what is so hard about just following the rules for the night. I don't really care if the cars are close in performance or not, if its toyota night use a toyota. Not a lexus.

I clear my cache nearly every night before racing and I used a CAT6 direct connection. To be perfectly honest, the only place I have this issue is in the 450pp room and since I'm not alone, I'd say it's probably not related to me or a series of individual drivers but most likely the host(s) and their connection. I'm not a techie or anything but even Spock would say that was logical I think.

iForce man I'm sorry I brought up this issue of the Lexus..lol. What a can of worms. I know you well enough to know you weren't trying to do anything sneaky just trying something out and I didn't intend to have everyone pile on. My only concern was to keep the racing as close as possible and if we are to leave out the FT86 for that reason, then maybe add the LFA to the list.

Sorry man...

I think an FT86 night would be awesome too.

There is a separate thread I started about this so let's not continue it here. Others throughout the forum have noticed similar behavior. It is some sort of networking glitch that often occurs with certain players. I have been hosting for months and 95% of the drivers in my room never have the issue.

If one claims they don't have the issue in other rooms, that doesn't quite absolve them. For one, if its a pub room, you may not even notice cars missing on the track. We notice because we know each other and know when someone isn't on the track.

Where is the separate thread?

Its all good 👍
I should have used it last night at GP/F.I didnt get a timed lap in and got stuck mid-pack with guys that were all over the place.I think it must of been a lag thing since you and the gator guy both said i was lagging at GV-E.

I think i have 2 different FT86's in my garage that i have never used.Which model would be a good pick for a 450-500 pp car?

I've never compared the FT86's side by side, I have the basic one set up for 450ppSS and the Sports Concept set up for 500ppRS and they are both very fast. At GVE last night you lagged backwards into me a couple of times and then I got punted off the track by someone else for about the 6th or 7th time in a row last night so I gave up...lol.

Ring was fun last night, my M3 CSL did pretty well, I finally have a fast 450pp car :D

its a fast car indeed! missed a couple of race due to time constraints but ill be racing tonight! :)

interesting discussion bout the bug problems with GT5.

Private lobby is open for Fiat 500 '08 same make racing.

Yuritardid won the first race so its his pick for next week. The Fiat was fun at Monza, tons of drafting. However two cars at the front of the grid could pull away very easily. Both races I got stuck just out of drafting distance and watched the two leaders take off. I hit the chicanes as best I could but there was nothing I could do to make up the extra second or so they were getting from bump drafting.

The rest of the races were tough since I didn't spend any time tuning the car. I had very bad throttle understeer and braking wasn't to great either. I think I managed 3rd behind WiiFreak and either Yuri or Esh every race. Cape Ring Periphery I did better though. WiiFreak and I battled each lap but I think my car had more grip and/or control through the loop-de-loop. However there was a little lag being introduced and at one point his car jumped in front, then behind me. He was close at the finish though and I think I took first by .007 seconds.

Read the first post it explains everything.
Also if it's your first time in a GTP league I recommend reading the GTP Online Racing Rules(OLR) to understand how 99% of the league/Clubs race here.

Given your location, we can see how it goes. We've been having network issues just with drivers in North America. You can join us for a few nights and we'll see if you have lag and go from there. Send me a friend req via PSN. If it says I have too many friends, then just send me a regular message and I'll shoot a friend req back to you after I delete someone who hasn't shown up in a while.

I finally got the chance to race last night and had connection issues. It's something between me and you there chuyler, last time I tried to join your room I had the same issue. I'd be in the room either idle at the main screen or driving on the track and after about 2 minutes since the initial connection it will disconnect me from the room. I only have trouble when I join your room for some reason. Oh well, I got to put some time into Shift 2 that I just bought. It's pretty decent.
