Yuritardid won the first race so its his pick for next week. The Fiat was fun at Monza, tons of drafting. However two cars at the front of the grid could pull away very easily. Both races I got stuck just out of drafting distance and watched the two leaders take off. I hit the chicanes as best I could but there was nothing I could do to make up the extra second or so they were getting from bump drafting.
The rest of the races were tough since I didn't spend any time tuning the car. I had very bad throttle understeer and braking wasn't to great either. I think I managed 3rd behind WiiFreak and either Yuri or Esh every race. Cape Ring Periphery I did better though. WiiFreak and I battled each lap but I think my car had more grip and/or control through the loop-de-loop. However there was a little lag being introduced and at one point his car jumped in front, then behind me. He was close at the finish though and I think I took first by .007 seconds.
I didn't notice anyone driving invisible last night but I could be wrong. Perhaps we should try some of Punch's suggestions in the other thread about being invisible, like having a fixed host, leaving the mics off etc. and see if it makes a difference. If it doesn't make any difference and you want mic's back on for example, you can always recreate a standard lobby and be up and running again in 5 minutes.
I got an hour or so in tuning the Fiat at DF Reverse and Tsukuba (too bad we didn't go there...lol) and it worked out quite well for me. At Monza, I thought I was clear of Wii but he caught my draft so we bump drafted in the first 10 lapper to keep ahead of third which worked out well....lol. I think it was 1/100th difference at the line and in the second race 1/10th margin of victory....darn close racing. I had just run some RM Cappuccino races there last week, and bump drafting was key there as well.
I just started working on an S2000 and I wouldn't mind that for a one make race. Fairly easy to tune and drive and readily available. Would it be possible to use any non-tuner S2000 from the UCD or NCD instead of one particular model? I think that would be ideal because I'm sure everyone has one or more of some of the models and might simplify things and make it easier for more people to participate. Of course, no Spoon's or Amuses or any of that kind of stuff.
If you aren't keen on the idea of the multiple model S2000's then I'd go with an FT86 Concept, the basic one, not the Sports Concept, although I don't know if there's much difference. I think it's a prize car and it's in the NCD so not hard to find.
If anyone is interested I can post the setup I used for the Fiat when I get back on Monday. I can tell you off hand I think the keys were a softer suspension, ballast, and the high rpm turbo and adjusting the front ride height to suit the track. I think WiiFreak was overall faster than I was (as usual) so it isn't the be all and end all set up that's for sure, but it might help some of the guys that are struggling with the stock set up be more competitive. If anyone is interested let me know, and I'll put it up next week.
