Turn out was, um ... well...

4wd and rain tires are pretty much mandatory

Nurb night tonight. Tune your cars to 456pp (inflation) / Sport Soft

Will post room no. around 9:30 EDT

456? Might be a handful for some of us.

kidding aside we did try 500 a while back and that was a bit much for some on SS

We did 500 on Muscle car night several weeks in a row. Drivers couldn't get a handle on the speed and were crashing into each other. Faster cars means earlier braking points.

Honestly, I think we see the most action on comfort soft nights. It really equalizes the cars and if you pass someone, there's a strong chance you'll mess up and they'll catch back up to you. In a 5 lap race at Suzuka I think I passed the same cars 3 times because I kept making little mistakes while yapping on the mic.

comfort anything equals awd field, i'd rather not limit people inadvertently like that.

every wednesday the nurb room is filled and people complain about not being able to get in. so i don't think we need to worry too much about interest/action.

Well, that's why I usually say 2wd only. Drivers can run FFs if they can't handle a little oversteer.

I have to admit that I struggle on tracks like Nurb with a car higher than 450 or so. It just seems the turns come so fast that I can't keep up.

Just my being a weak noob I suppose...

Couple good races last night, but as with most public rooms, there was too much contact in the corners. I lol'd when the Italian guy running the 04 Elise would make comments about it being a good race when he would lead from the beginning and win by 20+ seconds.

The 111R is tough to beat at 450pp, especially on the ring with traffic! Is there a theme or vehicle picked out for tonight?

Yeah, that's the thing about the ring. Novice drivers can cause everyone behind them to lose 10 seconds in the first sector...by then, anyone ahead can just race clean and safe to win. Of course, two cars that are 20+ seconds back can close in on the leader at the final straight if they draft properly.

What's the car for tonight? I'm going to win this race on my birthday damnit.

Thursday 8/18: Same Make/Model Night -- 450pp, Mazda RX-8 '07, SS Tires
Any and all performance parts allowed for tuning the car.
Tracks: Fuji (w/ chicane), Lobby Vote
Winner of first race picks the Make/Model and track for next week.

Did we finally reset? Or, are still people who have yet to win yet?

Yuri, messed up the system by having people run his choice Sunday night when I wasn't around. So I just picked the RX-8 since I saw a bunch of people running it the other night when we had an open selection night. I'd like to see how everyone does in it. Its a fun car.

Never driven one in GT5, I always did find them quite fugly. Mostly because it's an ext. cab car.

This was actually a 5 lap race on GP/F.

Shockingly, I haven't won yet either.

The RX-8 is a neat car for this because of there are 5 or 6 options that can get the car above 450pp. Turbo 2, Turbo 3, Supercharger, Engine 3 all get the car above 450pp. Weight and exhaust could be 2 more methods.

Not shockingly, I haven't won. I suck, but I'm trying to get better.

cenk try typing the rooom no. in manually

I tried several times, maunal type, found the room - still no good, ps3 reset, modem reset..nothing helped, server incompatible [717]. The weird thing is I wasn't able to log into Chuy's lounge neither, I never had that problem before.

I ended in a pp500 race with some japanese guys..race tires too :dopey:

I'm going to try to join you guys tonight !

I think Bowtie was actually the host in my lounge last night...but I didn't see any lag issues with him hosting.

esh

yup. the 111r is the fastest car in this PP range bar none (at least on the various nurb tracks) it really shines on high speed twisty bits. forget concepts and tuners.

i see that guy in public nurb lobbies all the time usually running the elise, don't understand the enjoyment of winning every race by that big a gap. when he steps into another car, he runs with the field, when someone else steps into the elise they run with him.

Yeah I know that guy. i used to think i was doing something wrong...then i tried out the cars he runs and after winning by a huge gap i put them away and never take them out. That car simply has so much grip it makes driving effortless.

Yes I hosted, I have PS3 hardwired, but it goes through spells from time to time. Esh. You stick with me, I'll push you as much as I can.
