Do it on Daytona with a "flagpole car" on the infield of the tri-oval. Then at some point of the race have the "flagpole" move to somewhere on the back straight.
That track is too long. I made a few .5-.7 mile tracks using the kart tracks last night. At some point I'll pull them out for maybe 350-400pp racing. Should be entertaining. I tested them with the stock Elise and it was difficult to put down consistent laps.

Nic and I had an epic 5 lap battle in the Catterhams last night. I turned off tuning options since I've never driven it. SH tires and 550pp limit (mine needed an oil change).

If you've driven the car on SH tires without tuning it, you will appreciate this video a lot more. Tons of fun.

Watch the middle third of this video and concentrate on the hood of the car. I've never noticed how the shadows and reflections seem to pop into existence. Weird.

LOL, trees appear out of no where.

Last night went from good to great to noob punt in three tracks. Spa with penalties of any kind is awful. You barely put a tire on the candy stripes and virtual Kaz jumps through the screen and 🤬*slaps you. Then we raced Monza and on a few of the corners you can have the entire car behind the red and on the green. I would just like the tracks to be consistent. I did pull out some very lopsided victories somehow on Deep Forest Reverse, Cape Ring North and Trial Mountain reverse and was a wall tap away on turn 1 from a London calling to first as well. 👍

Spa would be a great spec track, but it didnt work with 450s. You have to rely to much on the person in front of you to know the brake points otherwise you arrive at corners a fraction off pace and then exit a second+ back. One long straight and two folks drafting can pull 2-3 seconds if they leave corners in tandem.

Ring nite this evening? Say 930 or 10 est? If Osprey doesnt have one going, I can open it. 450pp sports soft

Re: London, I don't think I could have passed you without your wall tap. I had decent speed but I haven't tuned the RX-8 since Spec-2.0 so it just doesn't feel right. After that I just picked cars I knew wouldn't win (the Peugeot, the '83 Lancer) just so I could taunt the horrible pubbers. That can be more fun than winning. That orange guy on the 'right was driving me nuts with his punting and leaning on every turn. It felt good to finally catch him on my outside and put him into the wall. He never recovered after that. My first time running a FF on that track. Despite skinny tires I could have kept up Nic had I not been pushed around by other drivers....but I didn't have the speed on the straight.

As for Spa. I think I need more laps to decide whether I like it. So far, I'm not a fan. Most of the passing occurs because drivers miss brake zones or get penalties. After 3 laps, the cars are so spread out you are basically racing yourself.

my sentiment regarding spa as well. I was pushed off track on the uphill chicane 15 sec in so that after my 6 sec pen resolved I was sitting nearly 10 seconds off pace a minute into 12 minute race. Driving alone for virtually the entire race..I lost 12 more seconds to the leaders by race end in a car that would normally be a solid front runner.

So maybe Spa + Boost = Fun?

Possibly, but some of the turns are difficult to get right when you know your speed...never mind trying to negotiate them at different speeds depending on how far behind you are.

I don't know. Like I said, maybe I just need more seat time.

I've been running on Spa alot since the DLC came available. My experience has been like many others, in that it seems to make more sense and be more fun when using fast racing cars. It seems like the faster the car the better the track feels. That might be why it doesn't seem as good with street cars.

I also haven't used it with penalties, which I've heard are a huge nuisance on that track. Not being able to drop a couple wheels off at Eau Rouge doesn't seem right.

Probably...Momentum is really important on this track...mistakes and penalty are very costly.I finished 2nd on SPA in a not so good handling KPGC10 with a clean run.The FT86 behind me was fast (too fast),I slowed down and let him pass but he overshoot the next corner and grabbed a 5sec penalty. :sly:

It's fine with penalties...you just need to learn the track and ride it the way it should be!👍

I dont think a driver should be worried of penalties if they keep a tire on the track and at Spa, you do.

How does 'ring night work? Do you just do one lap races, or what?

I might show up tonight if you guys don't mind..

Hooray! I wont be on for 20 minutes so hopefully the room isnt full. :D

And Garris...one lap races are it unless there's a track change.

No offence guys, but that wasn't the best race room I've ever been in, although the racing was good, people seemed a little bit to over aggressive.. I saw somebody get pushed off the track for no reason(not naming names) and a few people in cars that didn't seem fair to a 450PP race.. I hope you all understand. Don't hold it against me or anything, it was just an observation. Nice racing from a lot of you though.

ya gotta speak up if people are punting people, i cannot see everyting but i will kick people. unless it was me. :dunce:

as far as the cars, we have an unwritten rule that if you win, you switch -- it's tough to enforce in a public room but it's usually the regulars that are on top anyway. I didnt see anyone use a 111r, nsx etc. - the cars that dominate. along the same line, in my experience, nurburgring is a track where taking a car that's over the PP limit and massively limiting the engine to get down to the regulations does not work very well.. due to the massive straights, these cars are usually slow and will not win.. just like race cars that "waste" PP on aerodynamics (at least at this PP level). a 450 street car will always beat a 450 race car driver's being equal. so to tell you the truth, i don't care if people use massively detuned cars or race cars, they will be slow.

Don't worry Mac it was a public room...

I'll name myself for using the HSC Concept. Its a great front runner, but I was moved into grass by someone on the first long stretch. I always use the RUF 3400S and '74 Lambo Countach. The Lambo has no top speed for straight but I love sliding it 'round the ring no matter the position. I also used the silly Mitsubishi HSR Concept aka The Flapper for a race. I use it just to distract drivers and be smart...I love it!

After leaving room...joined 500pp nurb racing soft room and discovered what a silly car the LFA is. My top time in RUF, my best car, was 7'04 but then I hopped in the LFA and firat time out ran 6'56.xxx

My best time in the RUF boxster is 6:54 on the ring at 500pp/RS and I consistently run sub 7s. It can run with the LFA. It'll outcorner it but fall back on the straights.

I had fun. First Nurb night in a long time. However I also had issues with several drivers.

Race 1: TVR T350C - Suspension was too stiff and the rear end kept falling out from beneath me. I wiped out 3 times and still managed to finish mid-pack.

Race 2: TVR T350C - After some changes I felt a little more confident in the car. I was punted by someone on turn 3 but I fought back and nudged them off at Schwedenkreuz to show my distaste. I made some minor mistakes but I was able to pull off a win by drafting Osprey down the final straight.

Race 3: Peugeot 106 Rallye - I was bumped around the track quite a bit by aggressive drivers but I pulled ahead and stayed there for the most part. I forget what happened on the 2nd part of the race but I didn't get a very good finish.

Race 4: Mitsu Lancer '83 - This car is garbage but I love taunting bad drivers with it. Unfortunately I looked like the bad driver in it last night. In efforts to dial out understeer, I have apparently created too much rear tire wear. Half way through the race I had no control of the car.

Race 5: DeLorean - I had a good start with this car but I don't remember completely what happened, other than I probably effed things up at the end like always.

Race 6: Toyota MR2 '86 - I shot to the front in this car and did well the first 2 sectors. A '97 MR2 caught me but couldn't seem to draft pass. He had more grip than me so at Klosteral I played it safe and he was able to get momentum and pass me before the first Carousel. I followed closely for a while but he started to pull away. At Pflanzgarten he went off. I tried to pass on the inside since he was going slower but he made an attempt to block and we were side by side fighting for track through the next section. I won out before the last carousel but entering the final straight he pushed me off the track. Pissed me off. I effed up the final braking zone (like always) and ended up losing another position.

Anyone care to give me some tips on the final braking zone. I always seem to a) brake too soon, b) brake just right but clip some grass on one side or the other, c) brake too late, or d) brake and simply lose control of the car.

When the room is full, Nurb night can be fun. I don't make it a goal to win. I make it a goal to pick something mid-pack and see how many cars I can hold up. It's not much of a challenge to win in cars that I know are fast. But their lack of grip means I can't follow other drivers around the track. If I follow someone's braking points I end up bumping them or sliding off the track.

Ive only ran a couple laps in the RUF at 500pp but I can see sub 7 lap time from a ring rat easily. (ring rat is a positive name here I only ran one lap in the LFA, tailing a spirit RX7 until the final straight and drafting past for the 6'56. on a hot lap with the track to myself, shaving a few sec. shouldnt be a problem

Damn, missed nurb. Tonight.....? Usually same make but doubt that's still going.... What about modern muscle? (NO THE DELOREAN IS NOT A MUSCLE CAR).... Say 1980+

I saw you take out somebody and I thought it was intentional just to get ahead, I didn't know you were pushed off the track before(this was when you were in the TVR) so I retract most of my previous statement, my apoligies. I was in the red 2007 Miata, but I was having an off night and was driving like crap.

Taurus Sho not a modern muscle car either in case you're wondering. :sly:

LMAO, who ever considered it to be modern muscle? Maybe the 89' perhaps but the 98' SHO is just obese and geratic

By the way, I had a blast in the server last night. I enjoyed the close, clean racing and hope to do it again

Yep. I don't take lightly to getting punted. The driver cleaned things up afterward and we had a few other clean battles later in the evening.

I'm pretty quick on most tracks but the ring isn't my forte. Most of my cars are tuned soft and are ideal for trail braking and slight oversteer. This just doesn't seem to mesh well with the ring. They all feel twitchy and I lose control in brake zones.

I think I actually saved the replay in the black TVR so I may post it when I get the chance to record it.
