The core group has a lemons series race tonight. Someone else not part of that is welcome to host.

The core...awesome! This last video shows probably the 1% of time I rage quit. (And it was out of complete embarassment) Last corner Lap 3, the focus late breaks me, take the inside and nudges me up apex. Lap 5 then, while paying attention to on one but the Focus I completely F Nic over like a noob fool (for which I am sorry) Just a sad race overall which I quit in shame. Then I found the cheater Stratos and all was well. Big win on Laguna once I worked out the cornering and a missed opportunity that resulted in 2nd after telling myseld not to pass Chuyler until the last lap ended in escaping with 2nd rather than fighting for first.

Thanks for the reply Nic, forgot I asked.

I was at 1.42's in the old miata with the black steering wheel. 89??
I'm going to aim for 1.40's then, thanks.

my truck is dirty

and i see that i am far too nice. according to olr rules i was far enough up along side chuyler on a couple of occasions on that nurb race. next time no more mr nice guy and i'll be so far up ahead you'll never be able to draft my ass on the straight. :D

Which occasions? At 2:03 perhaps. I use bumper cam so i knew you were coming up but you were still mostly in my rearview. That's not an easy corner to run 2-wide but i did my best to leave room (apparently not enough). At 3:47 you definitely had me but you spun your tires. A few other places I was too slow mid corner. Partly defensive and partly because I'm just not a ring rat. You finally got around on my worst part of the track. I really need to practice that part. I knew I messed up so I went extremely wide on the next turn to stay clear of you. that set me back more than I wanted.

Anyway, I might be up for some nurburgring tonight.

You better be ready for the 'ring.

I doubt we'll be the lucky ones.

Yeah, your lag was crazy. I tried to follow you but you were jumping all over the track.

I'd suggest leaving and joining again. Only other thing to do is check your internet connection and make sure your wife/kids aren't watching Netflix or downloading porn.

Hey, I only wish my wife was downloading porn. Although I doubt I'd be able to keep my mind on racing. I'm wondering if something was downloading at the time then. I've never been bothered with it before, so it caught me off guard.

We've had trouble with people running bittorrent or other file sharing software. GT5 doesn't require a lot of bandwidth, but if something is competing for packets on the wire that is all it takes for latency to increase and your car to start bouncing around the track.

I just don't understand why the game doesn't ghost a car that is lagging out. I'd be fine with lag if the driver's car didn't start punting everyone off the track.

Could be torrents. I have run those at times. Sometimes forget to turn it off. I'm not sure why it doesn't make a lag car ghost. Would solve the issue mostly if they did.

If I can keep from throwing up, and not using the restroom every 5 minutes I might race tonight. Anyone else on?

The old miata is really that bad? ;)

Yeah, it got me down.
Sorry I couldn't make it osprey, but I think I caught that Hillbilly Swamp Flu from eastern Kentucky

another craptastic evening. Arrived late to the room and had an okay race. then half the room leaves, noob hosts makes tires umlimited, others leave. Then, before race stsrts, he turns it to 400 pp shuffle and only three people were left.

I left right around then too as I was done for the night anyway. I saw at least half the room ask for SS tires, yet he didn't comply. Maybe has a power complex.

Does anyone have any pointers for learning the 'Ring. I've spent hours on that thing, but still end up in the grass every lap somewhere. It's so frustrating. I think I just don't have enough time on it, but with each lap taking nearly 10mins, getting enough laps to actually learn the track takes forever. I want an easy way to learn it, but there likely is no easy way.

Maybe you could do the AMG driving school in the special events,so you can concentrate on each sector till it's mastered ....there's also the licenses test on this track. Some of us have well over 1000 laps on this track in gt5 and even more in gt4..."Practice makes perfect".

I've done the first 2 and got gold in all the sectors, but only silver on the whole track. I think what get's me is the track is so big, that by the time I finish doing all 4 sectors I start forgetting parts and can't put the whole track together. As it is now I just don't know the track well enough to really drive it. I'm always having to look at the HUD to see what's coming up and of course that isn't the way to put down good laps.

For some reason I skipped over GT4. I did all the GT's from 1-3 then got out of gaming when things were busy with kids. Just started getting back into it over the last 1.5 years. So I guess I'm missing that GT4 'Ring time that alot of others can draw on.

from experience, do enough laps and you will dream running the track (serious). :D

i can close my eyes and visualize every turn.

LOL.

I am proud enough to say I have all gold in the AMG driving school. :D

Hey GTP_FastM3,

Just keep driving it! Seriously, I gave up on it three times because it was just to frustrating. Now that I know every curve and bend that is coming up I love it.

Same, but I'm still not as fast as you!

There are a few approaches that look similar to me but for the most part I have it memorized. The problem is getting the braking points perfect so I don't give up too much speed. I notice the biggest difference in grip between cars on this track. Switching from my 86 MR2 to the RX-8 last night was like going from SS to RH tires. I've tried hard to get that same level of grip in the MR2 but it just isn't there. Certain turns I have to lift the throttle when the RX-8 can take them flat out.

Racing the track is more about staying on the track than anything else. I finished top 5 all night but there were only one or two clean racing passes. The rest were just staying on the track when someone else screwed up. None of my wins were noteworthy lap times. Although twice I was able to hold off a draft passer by passing them back before the finish line. I like this track config vs the shorter one because it gives you that extra straight to fight to the finish instead of crashing and burning into the final turn hoping you stay on the track.

This!I also dream running the track...once you got the circuit carved into your brain and your <3 LOL :D it becomes as easy as doing laps on daytona superspeedway.

It wasn't my decision. The network booted me off. I'd blame SCEA.
same for me...

It's not that easy if you do it the way you're supposed too. Many people think the fastest line is the low line, which may be true in the game, but on Old Daytona surface it wasn't the fastest.

PSN down for anyone else?

It was down for me until about 9, then I quit. Still not sure if it's back on.
