I messed around in a GT500 room last night. Those cars are just too fast for 5 lap races. I would either qualify well and pull ahead by 3-5 seconds before the end of the first lap, or I'd get pushed off the track before turn 1. One guy actually body slammed me off the track midway down a straight. I thought it might have been lag but at that point I was done. I keep going to pub lobbies looking for something fresh but the only thing fresh is the attitude of the other drivers...or the lag.

Fresh like a turd maybe.

It sounds strange...but it makes perfect sense. Normally, the first 3-5 laps decide the running order for a long race involving mixed cars, unless someone makes a mistake late in the race or pits at the wrong time. Putting boost on changes that. You could race wheel to wheel with someone for the full 90 minutes. Only the car up front is at a disadvantage. Everyone else can quickly catch back up. It helps slower driver learn where their mistakes are, and it forces faster drivers to be on their a-game if they want to stay out front.

What about the maintnenance. It's scheduled for 10pm EST I believe.

If you get into the lobby before the maintenance period starts, the lobby sometimes stays open. sometimes

...and when you think you've found a good lobby...you beat them with a normal car ,then the next race its raining nsx, evora, elise, lfa etc.

Fresh like a turd maybe.
👍

A gentlemen's agreement then? No use of those cars under penalty of ridicule.

they're talking about beating pubbies with volvos. Btw I'm gonna try and make the race tonight.

Wow, looks like PD may have put new life into GT5 with the latest update. Tire wear is now fixed so softs wear faster than hards. Reports are that a GT500 car will burn through soft tires in only 3-5 laps. That is certainly going to make a huge difference in endurance racing.

Penalties in free run/pratice lap are great...
I don't like the chase cam in that update. :yuck:
The 86 '12 is way too fast for the PP level...

Sweet! No more cheating qualifiers at GP/F

I had a feeling it was going to be. Is it faster than the NSX, RX-7/8, and other cheater 450 cars?

And no more running DLC tracks if you haven't paid for them either.

Huh, seriously? How does that work, do you get booted from a lobby if you don't have the track?

First time using it, I just ran a 1:20:393 at GVE-R, 1st timed lap, bone stock with no aids.

So its just your average little 402pp grocery-go-getter.

Edit: that run was done in my lounge.

That's what it sounded like last night.

Chances are good...I did some laps on Trial Mountain....1:34.925 449pp (only power mods & SS tires) no fc transmission, flywheel, suspension, bla bla bla.

...maybe not faster but in the same league at least.

Speaking of the 86, damn that Trueno on CS. Stop being so difficult to tune. Nick, I'm gonna need some help with it if you don't mind.

I'll be on tonight to run some tests with the new tires. If you see me in a lobby, i probably won't be racing. I want to get a full race picture of the racing tires first, but then I'll run a few laps on the sports tires to see if the tire wear matches.

I'll probably join ....
Do you want to test like in GT500?(given amount of laps on different set of tires).

Edit: Off-topic :I'm down to 6:34.6 on nurb with the evo 8...20's are coming!

I think want to step it down a notch from GT500, and run a vehicle that doesn't need tuning to run clean.

I mean testing tires the way we did in gt500 (tokyo R246)not necessarily with gt500. 👍

ahh, ok.

I've never driven any GT300 cars so lets grab this one and run some laps at Tsukuba. Bone stock, no tuning, not even the tranny. Get an oil change before you enter my lobby.

I watched the replay and I pitted 4 times last night,not 3.👍

I pitted twice. Lap 11 and 22. I could run several 1:45 lap times on fresh tires but by the end of a run I was down to 1:50 and I couldn't hold a line through most turns without lifting off to re-adjust my exit line.

That's pretty lame that you could finish 1:00 faster with twice as many pit stops. Although it is nice that they introduced more aggressive tire wear, I don't think they balanced it well. I wonder how things would have gone if we ran 1hr at High Speed Ring instead. With drafting, I think the hard tires might have prevailed. So it could just be dependent on track selection and race length.

The problem with the tire wear (RS) on high speed ring can be fixed with tuning...but it will still wear faster (overall)than the RH....so I think harder compound are better suited for high speed/easy corner track.Maybe we should test this on High speed ring (no tuning again) to get the full picture?

I could stay close enough to you on HSR to draft and catch up again. If I test HSR, it will be a controlled experiment where I run several laps on each tire and record the completion time.

I think Tokyo R246 gave me enough evidence to stick to RS tires. If the race length is close to the threshold of one set of RS tires I think it is best to just hold back and let your opponents destroy their tires and wait for the right moment to make your move.

For our nightly sprints, I think SS tires will still work fine...but I don't think FF cars will be able to compete with FR cars toward the end of the race.

Yep, if I could have kept the gap around 10secs and forced you into another pit stop, I would have a chance to catch you :) If you take out factors such as my pit entry error and your corner exit spin, and consider how tuning would affect tire wear, I agree that more testing should be done before coming to "RS is best in endurance races" conclusion.

I'm impressed with the RMs grip levels @ 60%, I was still running 1:43s. I think a 1:40 on fresh RM tires was the best lap of the race.

I tuned my 86 @ 450pp already and don't mind racing it against an nsx or a lotus. Shall we make a cheater car night lol
