For the Nurburgring night tomorrow night (weds) are Spoon street civics/integras acceptable?

I tuned a Nismo 350Z, my RUF BTR, and a couple Spoon cars if they're allowed.

Race Cars/RMs are definately not allowed. If it's got front downforce or loaded with stickers don't run it.

When I host there is a "Soft" Ban on Tuner (ie. Nismos and Spoon) and Concept cars. "Soft" Ban means you can run it, but they are not encouraged -- if you whip our asses you will be asked to switch cars.

Tuner is also a little vague because an Opera S2000 (don't run this car) is not the same as a Spoon Civic (you're propably OK to run this car).

Suffice to say I won't be kicking anyone's asses haha.

Just the plain spoon yellow cars. I was running practice laps last night online and was just over the 8 minute mark in the Nismo 350Z. I'm assuming most of you are hitting high 7 min laps?

For the leaders, I think high 7:40s, low 7:50s on sports softs @ 450pp sounds about right. We'll see tonight!! :D

Rooms up

Had fun racing with you guys last night. Just need to learn how to control the over steer with the DFGT so i can actually become competitive. Anytime i even touch the grass or the back end gets a little sideways im done for!:yuck:

Im done. Nik and osprey were the only ones who showed up.

couldnt make it last night, sudden change of plans as my buddies need help fixing a plumbing issue and to replace his water heater. Went home around 11pm. Too tired to play.

i will host a room tonight, who like me is not in love racing on the ring can join my room. 450pp comfort soft. i ll post the room number later

Who doesn't love the Nurburgring? It's basically one of the main reasons I wanted the game. 👍

Wednesday 7/20: Nurburgring Night
Track: The 'ring all night long
--Host: esoxhntr (PSN: osprey73)

Im confused now!!! :dunce:

Not used to racing on comfort soft. This should be interesting for me!!

franky doesn't want to race Nurburgring so he is offering an alternative.

Correction, he's not welcome in the Nurb room.

I will post the Room # around 9:30.

Might want to do some practice ahead of time with the driving line if you aren't familiar...it'll be tough to learn it with the line off (we turn off all aids).

That is the plan! im guessing you guys race during the day or do you turn on nightime and weather!

usually during the day, but Osprey has run at night before. He usually hosts because I run a separate LeMons to LeMans series on Wednesdays.

working full time is really cutting into my play time. felt like crap last night and went to bed instead of racing :(

Might finally participate tonight. Been on a Ring kick lately.

cs tires room is up: 1472 6399 8494 1425 4613 everyone is welcome:)

Here I was wondering why I was having so much trouble keeping up in the other room. ;)

Great racing tonight. Hopefully I'll be able to tame that Z.

That was lots of fun on the Ring tonight. I got better with each race and started to really dial the transmission in.

Action from last night 450pp Nurburgring series:

last one is a photo finish of who won the 2nd race (im guessing its Osprey in the Jaguar) notice the cones were flying!!!

IMO:

My Tamora seems tail happy and ill probably add a wing on it and see what it does or just ditch the LSD. At least its faster than the Alfa 147. :)

Other than some bad luck (contact resulting in spins etc.) I think car setups are my only problem. It wasn't until the last couple races that I finally dialed the transmission in so it had enough pull as well as top speed to hold 2nd place for 3/4 of the race before I made an error and got off track.

Is there a rule of thumb for transmission tuning on the 'Ring? I don't have a ton of time to spend tuning before these nights so it's kind of learning as I race.

I wish I had more time to tune cars to 450PP, the Nurburgring is my favourite course to run and I think I might make it a weekly habit to show up on Wednesday nights.

Tune top gear so that you are at your HP peak when you stop accellerating, not redlining. This will give you extra RPM 'room' for the draft on the back straight.

This is a decent rule of thumb...but you also have to remember that RPM is a multiplyer, so even though you have less hp at say 7500rpm vs 7000rpm, you still might be able to pull harder at 7000rpm.

I usually tune the transmission for my non-draft top speed...then I adjust 6th gear to allow some space for drafting. It allows me to pull hard through 5th gear without running out of headroom in the draft.

do we have to bring grenadeshark into this? ;)

not sure what you mean by rpm being a multiplier. torque at a given rpm * gear ratio * final drive are the multipliers.

on a track where your top speed will be limited by the power/gearing of your car working against the resistance it encounters (as opposed to simply running out of straightaway space) like Nurb or La Sarthe, i maintain that tuning rpms in top gear to end up at peak HP when you top out is the most efficient way of using your gearbox/power curve.

seems its gonna be one hell of a night tonight. i added some wing to improve handling as mine was prone to oversteer.... hopefully it will keep the rear planted....

I generally agree with you...but one time I tried that on SSR7 and my car had a higher top speed running at redline than it did peak hp. Of course I kept hitting the rev limiter in the draft...but when I tried to fix that I couldn't even keep up anymore.

Not sure if I'm going to make it for the first few races tonight. Wife wants to go see a movie. Tomorrow we're going car shopping. Thinking of trading her Dodge Nitro for a new Ford Focus Hatch. She wants something smaller that gets better mileage.

I was able to get under 1'12" @ GVE-R in my lounge w/transmission tuning and default suspension. Lol don't know if that's fast for this car or not but most times we race there I'm at mid 1'12's on best lap.

Going to try to race tonight. Ridiculously hot on 3rd floor where my setup is and I'm battling a cold for the last couple days. We'll see.
