I was able to get under 1'12" @ GVE-R in my lounge w/transmission tuning and default suspension. Lol don't know if that's fast for this car or not but most times we race there I'm at mid 1'12's on best lap.

Going to try to race tonight. Ridiculously hot on 3rd floor where my setup is and I'm battling a cold for the last couple days. We'll see.

Have you tried at Trial Mountain? That's the track were racing on. As of now, I'm getting mid 1:36's and that's slow for that course.

I have a friend coming into town, i won't be racing for a few days :(

Hey guys, I'm going to try and get on tonight. What is the car for same make night? OP doesn't state as far as I can see.

EDIT - NVM i was looking at next week's sched.

Just did Trial Mountain in 1:24:19 dont know if its fast enough. Installed a wing to the lowest downforce and ditch the LSD.

Looks like I am hosting. room will be up in about 5 minutes.

Room up.

Correction its 1:34:19 on my lounge.

My fastest lap was a 1.36.0 was good enough too win, but not by much. Nic drag raced me too the finish, but I won by .04, very cool finish.

AOK @ Leguna a few weeks ago in the Vettes, about 5:20 in (lap 4?, turn 1). I don't mean to harp on this and generally give him the benefit of the doubt due to everyone having issues with him and the fact that this is only a game, but he seems to be the only one that's unaware of what he's doing.

It's not the best angle to demonstrate but I really want to know what the thought process is when trying to make a pass like this. Your car was clearly faster than mine the whole race, so why the need to pass at this point in time? There's actually 2 different times in this race where you either get penalties or go wide in a turn, lose ground only to catch up in subsequent laps so why not just wait until a straight to make a clean pass? Of course, you ghosted (to me) and my line was unaffected, but I saw you coming, maintained my line (because I had position) and now have a perfect illustration of how you take advantage at the wrong time.

That's all anyone is asking really. People make mistakes, it's just a video game, etc...but just give back the position if there's a doubt the pass was clean. Nic is a perfect example on the opposite end of the spectrum of how to be aggressive but know your limits. He never takes a position instead of the line, in my experience, unfairly. It just seems to be about position for you, AOK.

That's it from me. Don't need to dwell on this but I felt I needed to say something as AOK seems to feel singled out at times and I think, in most cases, it's for a reason. Whether or not he listens is out of anyone's control so blah...

Yeah, that pretty much sums up his driving. In that video, his nose was barely at the tail of your car. You hit the right braking point for a fast line through the turn. He would have punted you to kingdom come if that were IRL.

AOK was actually racing pretty clean at Suzuka when I brought him up. He was pushing the turns too hard behind me though looking for passing opportunities where there are none. He actually backed off a few times...which is an improvement over previous Suzuka races. On my screen, his car left the track and then came back...I was chatting and went off screen and gave up the win.

Monaco was the next track where his name came up. Everyone, myself included gets pushy on this track. You've got to follow very closely and the only way to pass is to be right on someone's bumper when they run wide. I'm uploading the video now since Grenade was appaulled by one of AOK's passes. You can decide for yourself but I would have attempted the same pass...but probably backed off when contact occured.

0:27 -- At the top of the hill, everyone brakes early. Rather than punt AOK, I stuff it into the wall to avoid him. At 0:40 I again use the wall to slow myself down to avoid punting.

0:50 -- I think someone got sideways and was partially blocking the hairpin. This caused a massive clusterf--- of cars ghosting and ramming.

1:00 -- A little rough after the hairpins but I took back the position that Esh obtained via ghosting through me. It was on the dirty side...but I was pissed about getting stuck in the mayhem.

1:20 -- Note how everyone cleanly takes the chicane without cutting. I wish everyone (ahhem Grenade and AOK) would do this.

1:37 -- GrayFox rubs mBenz running 2 wide. mBenz bounces off the wall and I hit him in the aftermath. Trying to recover, I go wide on the next turn and Benz whips back around me. Nice move!

1:56 -- Esh and AOK have an altercation in my rearview. Looks like Esh lifted a little to avoid hitting me and AOK went inside and pushed him off his line. Esh, I'm sure you can provide a little more info on what happened there.

2:35 -- I lift off to avoid hitting Twichie and AOK runs full throttle past on the inside. Clean pass...I should have done better to protect the inside. AOK tries to get past Twichie too but is blocked out of the inside line. He appropriately brakes early. I make contact with him on the first hairpin but that's mutual contact. However, Twichie runs a little wide and cuts across the track to correct. This is a pretty bad line on Twichie's part and he ghosts allowing AOK to get along side him for the next turn.

2:55 -- Twichie runs wide and I cut inside. Unfortunately for Twichie, GrayFox hit the wall and got stuck slowing down both of them on the outside line.

3:18 -- AOK cuts across the chicane with 4 wheels inside the rumblestrip.

4:30 -- I AOK AOK. It wasn't my intention to do so...but everyone braked pretty early and my eyes were watching for ik's brake lights not AOKs. AOK was forced to brake when grenade braked and since I had track in front of me I used my typical braking point. I didn't lean on AOK or cause either of us to ghost, or run crazy wide...but I still consider the pass dirty.

4:40 -- ik goes wide through the 2nd hairpin. grenade mentions over the mic he's going to go inside...but he leaves quite a bit of track. So I go inside of him. Without pushing wide and still leaving room for 2 cars to my right on exit, I complete the pass. Grenade can call it dirty, but I call it clean. If I can stick the inside like that and still get around...you are going too slow. I even leave room on the inside of the next turn.

5:05 -- grenade ghosts through through me while complaining i am slowing down too much. I can slow down as much as I want to keep you from going past. meanwhile AOK cuts the chicane completely.

5:25 -- grenade barely gives me enough room to go by him (after discussion about the ghost pass). In doing so I tap him into the wall and AOK taps him again as he regains control.

6:17 -- This was the questionable pass grenade was talking about. This turn is quite tricky, and impossible to take fast if you let your car run wide on the previous turn like grenade did. AOK was in a position to run a out-in-in pass since grenade was forced to slow down to make the turn. There was definitely contact, but AOK could have accomplished the pass without contact. It wasn't a divebomb, or a ram. It appears to be a minor side swipe caused by slight ill timing on how much space grenade was going to leave on the inside. If you ask me...this about as close to a textbook pass as you are going to get on this track.

6:55 -- Prior to the downhill straight I scuff the wall enough for AOK to draft me. I force him to go outside of me. He had the jump on me before the brake zone (we were just about nose to tail). He tries to out brake me and cut the chicane like the previous laps but he hits me while I take the proper line. I don't know who you favor on this altercation, but would tend to think if he had braked properly and ran the correct line he would have stayed in front of me the entire time...but he chose to over-extend his brakes with full intention of jumping across the chicane. This slowed him enough to allow me to get beside him without running a dirty line.

Felt good the first 2 races but sucked in Laguna. The car was just a handful to drive there. I spun the first race by the 2nd lap running 6th place that took me out of the game. Dont know if somebody did hit me or i lost control. BTK did apologized as he was behind me. :)

I apologized if my hosting was not at par with everyone else for La Sarthe, :guilty: i have no mic and its hard to police everyone. I felt powerless. The laggers ruin it the first lap but im glad everybody tried to keep it clean. Big mess in the Mulsanne straight but i saw everyone recovered. If i havent put the boost to low, im sure some races ended the moment these mishap were made. Glad these laggers quit halfway thru the race. Did save the replay the first 2 races and took some interesting photos.

Im not the type, that hold a grudge here and i know these issues with AOK are coming in most races that we had but i never had to dealt with him after the Nurb races as he was running clean againts me, but last night was another story, I was holding my line trying to finish halfway thru the pack at 8th place or something by the 2nd lap when i was dealt with an "AOK special" on the esses prior to the Mulsanne straight. A dive from the inside and a push that send me flying to the barrier! My race was done even if i finished in 14th place.

The straights were coming, and he had the faster car, he could have easily overtaken me but why push me out, plus everyone was holding their position in the esses, its risky to try to pass there when you know that there's 2-3 car wide traffic up front. I dont mind finishing last as long as i had fun, but my fun was short lived..... :grumpy:

i hope you understand AOK... END of RANT! i dont hold grudges!

I have to leave as my wife was taking over to watch Limitless in blu-ray! :(

By the way, for winning the first race, Bowtie has selected for next week...

The VW Samba Bus at Daytona Superspeedway 10 laps. I assume he doesn't mean the road course. It should be an interesting drafting experience and grenade I'm sure will school us on his superior transmission setup.

hmm

i wonder why wednesdays have been drama free last few weeks. even given that we typically get more pubbers than other nights.

hmm

interesting! never driven a Samba bus before! looking forward to it 👍

6:17 for me its nothing but an awesome pass, call that pass dirty its fun. chuyler pass on me is dirty, but i know it wasnt intentional, he s a very clean driver, like nic that send me into the wall on trial mountain :) i have to say that online my tamora had a strage braking oversteer, in practice it was ok but online this affected my car specially on curvy tracks. it was great on suzuka and fuji (we should run that couse again btw)

No, I didn't mean the road course.

Also boys and girls, the bus race will be VERY close. Unless you wreck, you all have a shot at winning. I think you all will find out what I'm talking about. Let's just say that grenade's "transmission" won't help him a single bit.

Does the bus reach 450 with all mods installed?

No, 440ish, but that's not the issue. You all will see.

it'll be about drafting i'm sure. We've done a few races at SSR7 but never a same-make race. Some of the strategy is in the transmission but mostly it will be about timing your run to the front (just like the speed dating in NASCAR). I imagine over 10 laps someone will get lag and take out half of the cars.

It's a bus.

i know that bandwidth speed plays a factor on online physics. I played CS, MW1 & MW2 online for years now. The lower your ping the more likely your game experience is smoother when playing FPS, point and click response is faster compared to a player with a higher ping.... resulting to a better kill to death ratio (i dunno if i stated it right but shooters help me out on this one).

I wonder if this translate to GT5 online physics?

Im not saying that, the faster your bandwidth the faster your speed, for me its more on control inputs. Occasionally, we all would run great but their are instances that i felt my input is a tad delayed both with DS3 and DFGT. thats why im using the DFGT only in easier tracks. Im link via AT&T DSL with NAT type-1 with a wired hookup to the modem as im screwed im i run wireless. Last time i host with the wireless set-up, half of the field were ghost cars!
When im in my lounge, im usually 8-10 secs. faster than my hot laps when im in somebody elses. im curious to know what your oppinion regarding this one guys?

FPS games definitely benefit from low-ping. I play L4D2 occasionally and if I get a ping over 100 I can't hit a damn thing. You shoot right at the zombies and the bullets seem to go right through them.

GT5, your driving physics are local. You basically race the track like you are offline and the network brings the other car's positions to your track. Unless you make contact or draft with someone, the network usually has nothing to do with your lap times.

As for you being 8-10 seconds faster...what track? Even the differences between offline and online physics don't skew my lap times more than a second or two on most tracks.

Keep in mind the first track to load in your lobby is bugged. Tire temperature will be broken until you reload the track. The first few races of Lemons we went 60 laps at grand valley on blue tires.

Another bug we've occasionally seen in public lobbies is one where certain cars, possibly due to lag, cannot accelerate or corner at the same speed. It's like they are stuck in penalty mode. I've seen it happen a few times...but never in private lobbies.

It think we need to bring back the Mt. Aso of DEATH track. This track is so much fun. I think the video below says it all. Everyone except leadbdr overcooks a turn and/or smashes into a wall during the course of this race. I wish I had the com audio to go with it. BTW, the track is shared and you can download it from my community page.

I need to retune that Lancer too. I think last week I determined I can win almost every race in the RX-7...so I'll have to try something different for a challenge.

was just reading a bunch of threads concerning this as well. Kinda interesting that you said the first track in your lobby is bugged... can you elaborate on it Chuy?

when we were doing Trial Mountain last night i posted i was running 1:34 on a clean lap in my lounge w/0 the wing prior to the race but during qualifying the best i could muster was 1:42 and that's a clean lap on manual. I remember you guys talked about this during an Eiger race a few months back.... hmmmm! mind boggling!

Ive seen these bug where in others are like in penalty mode in public rooms but i credit it to lag. Grenade was accusing Nick driving talent as a case of cheating the games physics? Such an accusation!!! but he may have a point! hehehehe if there are some bugs worth exploiting but not to me my reaction time is kinda slow but wait could be my bandwidth?

MYSTIFYING!

lots of crashes on the video!

The bug I spoke of is widely known. When you first load your private lobby, if you don't change the track, your tires will never heat up. That's about it. It's pretty obvious since your tires stay blue.

The other bug is very rare. We had issues at Madrid and Eiger one night. When I watched the replay, you could see the driver's throttle flickering. It was enough to slow their speed by a second or two per lap. It only ever happens when the room is packed. Might only be public lobbies too and when you toss in questionable pubbers with iffy network connections who knows what is going on. One lagging car can ruin the race for everyone.

Occasionally my brake pedal has stuck at about 5%, usually when I first start racing for the night. There have also been times where it hasn't fully engaged the throttle. It goes away if I tap the pedal a few times. These hardware issues can pop up from time to time its always good to save your replay and watch the input bars to see what happened.

I think this was for daytona road course...You remember that Grenade

i never notice as i never use the first track that appears in my lounge, thats Autumm ring right? like to test in Tsukuba, GVE, Trial Mountain and Rome.

guess i have to watch the replay more often rather than taking pics.
