Fun racing last night. Still trying to dial in my '83 Lancer. After I left I added stage 1 and 2 engine tuning to increase the power, then I added 150kg of ballast. I also gave it a brilliant coat of craptastic 80s brown which suits it much better. In addition to the understeer issues I was having, this should also help with the straight line power. I simply couldn't keep up with anyone on the straights last night. I managed a bunch of 4th-6th place finishes...but that was simply because everyone behind me couldn't keep it on the track. Even cars that went off track had no trouble catching back up to me.
Who's hosting tonight?
Its been kinda slow the past few days.
I've got a room up again tonight.

Ugh, no more public rooms for me. I cannot deal with the random horrible drivers. I would rather have fewer good drivers than more drivers that can't hold a line or not wreck half the race.
Yep. The NSX is very quick once you dial it in. The Evora and Elise are also fast and have amazing grip. The 97 MR2 is pretty decent. There are some FR cars that are quick too. The NC Miata, S2000, RX8, RX7, etc. 4WD cars are pretty sluggish unless you switch to CS tires. There are a few FF cars that are quick enough in a straight line that it doesn't matter that they corner horribly.
There is a consensus from most of the tuners in the room that stock tire sizes play a key role in how a vehicle performs. Sports cars with wider tires simply have more grip in the corners compared to econoboxes. You can make up for a car's inadequacies with some aggressive suspension tuning, but sometimes you just can't get speed out of a car.
Grenade's Green Goblin (240RS) for example has boat loads of speed no matter what parts you install...but it's got friggen donut spare tires on all 4 corners and slides around every turn. You could spend hours tuning it...but it still won't corner like a bone stock Elise.
I'm with you on that. With fastest first grid, you never see these pub drivers. With reverse grid you are lucky if you make it 3 turns before being punted or shoved off your line.Ugh, no more public rooms for me. I cannot deal with the random horrible drivers. Yep. With fastest first grids, you race side by side with your best competiton...with reverse, its more a factor of who gets around the bad drivers first.Reverse grids are part of the problem.
80s cars often have narrower tires than 70s cars. It seems to vary from car to car though so age isnt exactly the defining trait of a cars ability. If you are refering to the 89 Z....i hate that car. Its heavy and understeers. I've never felt fast in it.are you sure? i have tried some nissan z the last week and the 71 with that narrow tires was better than the one from 83 that has wider tires for sure
