Does anyone have room number? Host has filled up the friends list

The reason for that is because they have no weight hanging out in front, or behind the wheels. The less weight you have hanging off the front the less understeer you will have. And vice versa for the rear. This is similar too why people move the engines further back in the car. Weight distribution.

@BTK the lancia stratos is a good example of that..... Front track is also important...
A wider track will improve cornering power, because it reduces weight transfer in the corners.Less weight transfer means that the tire loading will be more equal and the cornering power will be greater.(Herb Adams). The renault 5 turbo is narrow in front...the outside tire is always burning...

Yep...it explains why my lancer sucks. The engine is too far forward. You should be able to reduce weight transfer to the outside with stiffer roll bars but i havent quite figured it out yet. Sometimes higher rollbar settings just cause more trouble with the outside front tire.

Yes Nic, you're correct. This is why people were understaffing in the Tamora on Thursday. The engine in those are wayyyyyy up front.

As for the lancer. most of the cornering in GT5 is spring rate and camber. Do not rely just on roll bars alone.

I sent a FR request too but your list is still full so i will try it later.

I was having lag problems last night as well. I don't know if was my or the host(dabney).
One race was on him and I on the track from my view. Apparently there was 7 racers. Im surprised I didnt take someone out.
The next race I only saw 4 out of 7 racers as well. I just called it a night.
Hopefully no problems tonight.

Haven't done an 80s night yet. Long day of packing so maybe I'll reward myself with some seat time.

I will have the room open between 9:30 and 9:45.

is there a room number? Its says chuyler cant have any more friends!!!

I joined the 450 room, but I only have two 80's car tuned. I "tuned" them, so they don't really count. One just has some power parts and the height-adjustable suspension. The other, which is faster, is a Nur refit of an '89 GT-R. I pretty much took the stats off the '02 Nur.

I do like the car. It is so easy to drive, but it is 479 PP. Takes quite some engine limiting.

I was 8 seconds off the pole at Cape Ring Periphery. I would've stuck it out, but my daughter got out of bed, again. Saved by the little one in need a spanking.

I tried joining but i couldnt get anyone to give me the room# !!:grumpy:

I don't think there's a room number in a lounge. You have to be friends with someone in the lounge and join through the community tab.

You have to be friends with the lounge host. Send me a message if it won't let you send a friend invite. I'll remove someone to make room. At 9:30 tonight I removed 3 or 4 stale users so there should have been room to send an invite.

I'm simply done with public lobbies. Network issues, room crashers, people coming and going, people not understanding the nightly theme, etc. So send a message to me and I'll make sure you are on the list. If you get removed from the list just send another message. I tend to remove people who don't login in very often.

Wasnt it nice to see two Izuzus on track for a couple races?? Just brings tears to my eyes. Now, if we only had a third on the track? And fourth...heck I'm greedy. They're pretty inexpensive cars folks, go get 1. :)

I bought one last night but didn't get a chance to run it. Too much fun driving my slow-ass Miata.

Lots of fun running my middle-of-the-pack Lancer. It still needs work to be a front runner. I can hit clean lines all day long but it lacks passing power and it cooks the outside front in the corners. I've been experimenting with different spring rates and camber but I can't quite figure it out. I rarely lower the suspension but perhaps I need to drop this baby and go with super high spring rates to minimize body roll. It could be too narrow and top heavy. I might also spend some time with the mid-rpm turbo. This car only has a 5 speed so it could be that I need a wider power band for the taller gears.

Here's a fun battle at Tsukuba. Very tight racing. Diabolic made a few mistakes late in the race which allowed me to catch his draft. I tried a few passes but I just didn't have the power. I did get good run on the last hairpin with an over-under but 2nd gear was too tall and he pulled away before I got to 3rd gear. I had some decent top end speed but he blocked and took the inside. With my crappy understeer, I had no chance of making a pass on the outside of the final turn so I ducked inside to protect my position from benz.

And another fun race at Laguna Seca. I was pretty much a road block for most of the drivers around me. I was hitting my apexes and carrying decent speed around the track, but that outside front was scrubbing off too much speed. I also couldn't get the turn-in I needed for a fast line through turn 6. I was passed multiple times going up the hill after either playing it safe, or overshooting the exit. Still a fun race though, and it had my blood pumping trying to keep up and hold my position.

I had a good race with iforce @ Tsukuba until I changed my line on the the last turn to try to make a pass and put a tire on the grass. I was within a car length or two for the whole race and had the power to pass. Just didn't have the right opening to try it. We both ran pretty distinct lines and still were able to run fast. I think that actually helped me to gain some ground the last couple laps when I knew going into the 1st turn iforce would turn in much earlier so I didn't have to back off draft to make my late apex.

you are on my friendlist, you could have joined from me. check all your friends in the menu, when you see the orange spot you can join the room even if im not the host. i really enjoyed last night races, grand valley was one of my best race ever, i was surprised by the speed of the iforce ruf, it was hard to stick with him, but once he made a little mistake before the straight i had the chance to pass him and take the first position. i also made a number on aso with my isuzu that everybody should have seen, a save that can be compared to this:scared:

It's just so hard to pass on that track cleanly. That whole race I passed only 2 cars. I got around GrayFox when he misjudged mBenz's position on the 2nd hairpin. He turned in and bounced off. I'm guessing the twitchy nature of the RUF sent him flying into the sand trap. Later I got around benz with a rough pass. I bumped him when he lifted off to avoid going off track before the final hairpin. It was square in the back. It took running side by side for the remainder of the lap to actually get around him though.

I gave up a position to Nic while I was fighting benz. I think Nic would have got around me eventually but I'm pissed I left an easy opening for him.

By the time I got around benz, Diabolic was out of drafting distance. I watched him do some rally moves for a few laps and eventually caught up. Lap 9 he picked the inside on the straight and we went side by side into the final turn. He pushed me out a little but I didn't have the tires to hold his speed anyway. Lap 10 I tried again but he blocked me.

Looking at the lap times afterward, my car never had speed. I was close to a second off pace compared to Diabolic's best lap. I'll give this car a few more sessions and see how it does. I would have liked to try Rome with it last night to see how the top end speed was.

Negative. Only friends on my list can join my private lobby. It doesn't allow friends of friends. That only works for public lobbies. In any case, send me a message and I'll add anyone that wants to get in.

Great video btw. I've made a few saves like that before, but never from that extreme of an angle.

i was surprised to see your lancer behind on grand valley. the pace was crazy. all my laps was 2:08:0xx edit. really? i always join from bowtie or nic:odd:

It's only got a 5 speed. You guys would pull away out of that final left/right chicane and I wouldn't catch back up until the end of the straight. I was burning up the outside front on almost every corner just trying to keep pace. Without the draft I was a good 2.5 seconds slower per lap.

Had a great time bringing up the rear last night.
I probably would have done a little better had I showed up in cars which focused more on horsepower than light weight.

Thanks for freeing up some space for me to join, Chuyler. I'll definitely be joining in whenever I can and may even one day become competitive :)

Yeah there is a target weight for 450pp somewhere between 1000-1400kg...but tuning the suspension to handle the weight is the most important thing. My Lancer was at 960kg Friday night when we did some racing...it was a dog. I added 200kg to the rear to bring it to 1160kg for last night's races. It did better, but the suspension still needs work.

I usually don't perform any weight reduction to my cars. It puts the default custom suspension settings closer to the right values. When you remove the weight, it throws everything off. In theory you should be able to run softer spring rates, but it never works for me.

the isuzu is a concept right?

i thought concepts were frowned upon... but maybe this one isnt as crazy as the toyobaru.

That's only if it's JDM night, grenade is hosting, and he gets to use his Acura NSX...

edit:...which by the way I saw on my way into work this morning. There's a red late model and a canary yellow late 90's NSX with awful rims I see every couple weeks on my commute. I've never been close enough to determine models specifically.

Both my Miata and Supra were competitive. I just started in the back too much to do anything.

Mt Aso was a blast. Liked those banked corners. The gear notification on the HUD wanted me in 2nd when I was just cruising in 4th. Last lap was silly. Got a video of that one? I probably should have saved it myself but I was getting nagged to death.

I may drive it [the isuzu] next week to see what all the hubbub is about. Off hand I'd say it is quick for 80's night but not quicker than some of the other options.

80's night has been dominated by a few groups of cars:

Street versions of group-b rally cars:
Ford RS200, Peugeot 205 Turbo, Nissan 240RS, and Audi Quattro is ok

Super cars:
Esprit Turbo, Ruf BTR/CTR, Lamborghini Countach, Isuzu Concept

A few street cars can keep up once tuned properly:
Mazda RX7, Mazda MX5 (on short tracks), Toyota MR2, Toyota Supra

Questionable:
Toyota AE86 should be quick but I guess its just good at drifting since I've never seen one win a race. Nissan 300zx just feels sluggish. It doesn't take much to reach 450pp in this car but it doesn't perform the way you would expect. The Skyline and Sylvia aren't very impressive either but they've got some potential. I've seen Nic race the Sylvia quickly around Suzuka but I've never had trouble passing him in my cars...which tells me it is slow.

I generally pick one of the true street cars and try to battle with the supercars and group-b cars. It adds a challenge. I know that most nights I can get within a few 10ths of the pole position so if I'm off by over a second it is usually my car.

For those of you questioning your driving skills or tuning skills, I suggest grabbing one of the vehicles at the top of the list and getting familiar with it. The RS200 is race ready with very little tuning. The 205 is quick on tight tracks. The 240RS will blow past anything in a straight line if you can keep the rear end in check.

The super cars can be a bit tricky to handle, the RUF especially. The Countach corners on rails but power reduction castrates it so you don't have much passing power.

The street cars that are quick are all tail happy to start. Its much easier to tame an oversteering car in this game than to fix an understeering car...at least that's what I've found.
