I did some laps in my lounge @ Tsukuba prior to last nights racing with the 205, Ruf, 83 Z, and 89 Z and by far the 205 was the fastest though it tore through rear tires if the tail was ever let loose. I was able to keep the Ruf in check eventually but driving that thing is so counter-intuitive. The 83 Z was second fastest with the 89 Z being close to 3 seconds slower than the 205. Only tuning I did in any of them, at that point, was shortening gears.

I usually run the Supra for 80's night but don't have a proper setup to hang with front runners.

Be forewarned. Unless a tuning garage specifically states they tune for online racing, there is a good chance the tune won't be stable with online physics. One of those links is to my MR2 tune. It's quite old and was intended for racing tires. The fact that it has a spoiler also shows it won't be competitive with the tunes I run today.

I really should post my own "good enough" tuning garage. If I win a few races with a car I'll post it. I could care less if someone in my room uses the same tune as me...as long as they follow open-source practice and post back any improvements they've made.

I don't think I've ever tried the 83 Z. In fact, I don't think I even own it. Not sure I've seen anyone run it up at the front but if I find one I'll give it a try.

It's been a while since I drove the Supra. I remember it feeling solid and well balanced. Fast in the turns and moderately quick down the straight. Not as fast as the Ruf but a decent all around ride.

Yeah, and some of them are for racing tires and some of them are way over 450 PP and may not scale back well. Some of them are probably simply for people who like going sideways through every turn.

I had a Calloway that I loved in the A-Spec races. It was so stable and crazy fast. Take it online and it won't even go in a straight line without just flipping out.

There are others, like the Cone Killer RX-8 that I tried night before last that did work well online. I've also tried every Civic Type R tune I could find, and I love them all, but the B-Racing is the one I use the most often.

And I still have the 207 tune from you. Would be nice if I could put a custom paint job on it. I'd just write "Tune by Huyler" on side or something.

LOL, I'm sure that 207 has a lot more to give. I really only spent 30 minutes tops messing with it. It was one of the quicker hot hatches though, and super fun to drive.

Tonight's theme requires no preparation!!!

Monday 7/25: Factory Spec Racing -- ~450pp
Car for each race will be chosen from list of recommended vehicles in lobby
Tracks: Lobby Vote
--Host: chuyler1

I'll start with 450pp and we'll see what cars come up. Might raise it to 475pp. The winner of each race gets to pick the car for the next race. I'll run about 5 lap races with reverse starting grid to give everyone a chance at offense and defense.

Send me a message if you aren't on my friend list. I'll check them before the racing starts.

Toyota AE86 should be quick but I guess its just good at drifting since.....
It's a very good car...I used my red levin a lot on nurburgring night...works well (good grip)👍

Everyone else seems to end up sideways in it. I should give it a spin sometime.

I dont know whats going on with my internet.
Last night I never saw AOK in any of the races.
I am pretty sure I was lagging also. So instead of taking people out or ruining there races I just left. Hopefully I get it sorted out by tonight.

That's happened with me before not seeing a couple different people on tracks though I could hear them on mic. I would lean more towards it being a GT5 bug.

if you look at the names of all the people in the room while in the lobby and notice under one (or more of them) have sorta stripes going right to left under their name (hard to explain but you'll notice it when you see it) as if they were stuck loading for a long time that is a hint that you will not see some people on the track. i believe this is a network issue. if someone is stuck 'loading' on your screen they break the connection to others and multiple people may not appear. if you leave the room and come back all will be well.

i've found that if you cannot see someone on the track, they cannot see you either and you won't crash them. to the others who are 'ok' and can see everyone on the track, if the two cars overlap on the track we'll see a weird car sex thing happening when the two are trying to occupy the same piece of real estate on the track.

If you can't see them, they may still be able to see you, and you can crash them.

That's what Nabsport did to me two nights ago. He hit me on two consecutive tracks and never saw me nor felt when I bumped him back.

You should go to speedtest.net and see what kind of ping and bandwidth you're getting. Then reboot your router and other network devices (switches, cable modem, DSL modem, etc) and run the test again.

thanks, i didn't know that. thought it was mutual. that really blows then.

This missing cars bug is getting annoying. It's been happening more often now...but its always the same drivers that can't see people.

On an unrelated topic. I was cruising craigslist and got to thinking about the cars we are missing for 80's night. How about these winners...

1987 Monte Carlo SS
1987 Pontiac Fiero
1987 Ford Mustang GT 5.0
1987 BMW 325
1985 VW Scirocco
1984 Saab 900
1985 Porsche 928s (aka the shark car!)
1987 Suzuki Samurai (wtf is this thing?)
1987 Porsche 944 (It's a shame there isn't a RUF version of the 944 or 944 Turbo)
1988 Ford Thunderbird Turbo Coupe

For Osprey:
1980 Chevy El Camino V8
1986 Subaru Brat

And wow, check out this 300zx. I might have to go drive this for the hell of it.

The Fiero and the Scirocco are on my list of cars missing from GT5. It also includes the SVX, a true Pulsar, and any other 80s wedge cars you can find. We are also missing Pontiac in general and the Firebird in particular. And it is a shame that we don't have Porsche at all or the 944.

Other notable cars missing: Vector, Aussie utes, the large BMW coupes (8 series?).

OMG!!! They turned the El Camino into a four seater.

It's not like those cats are obscure or anything, either.

Forza has them. Sometimes I wish I had an xbox too.

I saw a pulsar when I was searching...didn't add it though because there wasn't a photo.

Pontiac is missing, but you'll get the feel of the Firebird by just driving one of the Camaros.

I'm really surprised there are no Saabs. If we've got the Volvo 240 estate wagon, why not an 80's 900 or a 90's 9000?

I know modeling these cars takes time...but sometimes I'm scratching my head as to why they bothered to spend time on so many useless Keicars when they could have been modeling cars we'd actually enjoy driving.

I'm not asking for a Chrysler K-Car, Ford Fiesta, or Geo Metro (the equivelent to Keicars in the U.S.). I'm asking for genuine sports cars. The 80's Mustang 5.0 is iconic. Why put the IROC in the game with out the T-Bird? Why not push harder for Porsche licensing? Ok, the El Camino was a joke...but still it would be fun to drive.

I had completely forgotten about The Wedge car, the Subaru XT.

I agree though, why did they include some cars, but not others? And they have BMW and Subaru, but they don't have some of the more sporty or racing centric versions of those cars? Yes, the 360 was important in automotive history, but... when building a Real Racing Simulator, perhaps include some of Subaru's actual sports cars?

They included some of the Z cars that were kind of rubbish. But they didn't include any of the rubbish Mustangs. Why not?

Speaking of the Firebird, GM is crap. It sucks that they've gotten themselves in a position to be bailed out by the government twice. It is entirely their own fault. They get stupid and make crap. I don't understand why anyone even goes to a GM dealership.

They did bring back the Camaro. And it looks fantastic. And I understand that, unlike the gorgeous new Mustang, the Camaro has modern suspension. The first Firebird was a Camaro. GM didn't want too strong a car in the Cheverolet stable, so they let Pointiac build a better Camaro. Why didn't they do that again? It could have 100% the same body panels, and no one would complain. But a flaming chicken on that thing and blow out the engine and I'm sure people would buy it and be happy with it.

isn't there a version of the pulsar in the game?

Yes, there is. And I've tried a 450 tune, but it didn't like hills at all. I just figure it would get more attention if it didn't have the camper shell on it.

I got 10.5 down and 1.75 up.
I couldnt do the ping test there, but I found another one. I did a test for google.com and got a 6.22 ms ping.

It should do a ping test automatically and then you can paste the results image in here; there's a link for message boards.

Well WiiFreak had no trouble beating me in it... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c3aJ3Rrnngk

It looked pretty quick in a straight line on the video. It took him a lap to close the gap but I was running some pretty fast laps I thought.

As for Amercian cars in general. I've had decent luck with Ford but I'll never buy a Chrysler product again as a daily driver...and I've never been a fan of GM. My dad had to put a new transmission in his Chevy Avalanche after 60,000 miles. In an era where cars run 200-300k on just fluid changes, that is ridiculous!

My wife's '08 Dodge Nitro has been nothing but trouble and the '01 Wrangler she had before that was in for repairs on a regular basis. We're actually trading the Nitro in this week for a 2012 Focus hatchback. Thought about going Japanese but the Mazda3 was too expensive and the grinning grill is hideous.

My Mazdaspeed6, despite being a 1-off performance model has been a breeze. No problems after 80k. I was really pushing for my wife to get the Mazda3 because I've had great luck with Mazda...but the new Focus is too good of a deal. Better options, better gas mileage, better price, better looks. We take delivery the end of the week. She's psyched to get back to driving stick shift again. The Nitro was our first auto-tragic in a long time...and that's just because she wanted an SUV and you simply can't find an SUV with a stick.

Not awesome, but not horrible. Is your PS3 wired or wireless?

its wireless. Ive tried both and for some strange reason I get better speeds wireless.

I hate when im looking for a decent tune, think i found one and then read: "Ride Height -70/-70
springs MAX/MAX"

:yuck:

Yeah, i don't get it either. BMW is great and they have sooo many cool old race cars. I would rather have a focus on vintage race cars over vintage turds.
