I don't know what the issue is here - as I haven't really kept up on this thread the last few weeks & have not read all the posts regarding whatever issue happened with AOK - have had a lot going on, but I heard that AOK was being discussed (from someone who has read the recent threads & mentioned it to me).
I'm not here to change anybody's mind about anything - because that's not my business,
nor does it make a difference to me what you guys do.
But since the Spitfire races were mentioned, I will say I'm the primary host & organizer of the Spitfire series. Triumph Spitfire 1-make sprint race series, on sports soft tires, strictly following the GTP OLR Rules, with post-race penalties for race incidents.
We do not make the penalties public, only adjusted 'official' finishing positions are posted. There were only 4 incidents in total through 24 races (across 2 series in 3 divisions).
One was likely due to the "invisible car problem" - and after that we started doing "vision checks" before the races.
In 2 of the incidents, post-race penalties which changed finishing positions resulted. In both cases, the racers who caused the incidents accidentally requested to be penalized.
AOK participated in 6 event races, and some practice races too.
AOK was not involved in any contact incidents.
I watched the replays of all his races, he did nothing at all improper. There were no complaints lodged against him, he incurred no in-race nor post-race penalties.
And it IS true that AOK received nothing but compliments on his driving.
Both publicly, and privately, there were only compliments to AOK.
I can't speak for AOK's driving in any other events I didn't see.
I did watch as a spectator one night with races with AOK in the 450pp Tuners races... and there too, never saw anything wrong with his driving.
I have no wish to argue with anyone about AOK or anything else.
I don't care what you guys do or don't do, regarding AOK or anyone else.
But based upon all my experience with AOK, I would welcome him to any race I host/organize. He would be subject to the rules, of course, and I would feel confident that he would abide by them, racing clean & fair, because I've never had any reason to doubt it, based on my experience.
I just felt it was my duty to back up AOK's claim, which is the truth, that he received nothing but compliments in the Spitfire races, from the people competing with him.
Append:
Oh, and personally, I have a high regard for his sportsmanship... Since he did poorly in just one race - the one on my custom track (
Mount TopMore)... and he was a good sport about it. He didn't give up even though he was clearly less practiced on it than the rest of us. And he wasn't at all sour grapes about his loss on the custom track. He was good-natured about it. 👍
