I hate that about some of the theme nights.
Everyone knows what a hot hatch is, but they try and sneak in something that's close to it. Its the same when we first started muscle car night. You can argue all you want, a Delorean is NOT a muscle car. Neither is a GNX.
Most of the cars we use in this series are close enough to the same performance. Its not like your'e going to get any edge over someone else.

Ahh, I see... the vehicle must have a C-pilar and it must mark the back of the vehicle. I still think the Mini fits that just as much as a 1st gen Focus or VW Rabbit.

The C-pillar on an Integra, clearly does not mark the end of the vehicle but it does have one. The Glass forms sort of a bubble and terminates at a trunk like back.

Cars like the RX-7 and Camaro IROC don't even have a C-pillar and are obviously coupes. The 300zx and 350z technically have a C-pillar but the hatch does not open at the bumper, it is above the bumper like a coupe. The CRX is the same way. When you lift the gate, there is part of the rear that does not lift with it.

Perhaps a true hatchback hinges at the roofline and drops to the bumper.

I agree leadbedr. Unless you have some sort of relationship with a car and you haven't been able to run it (for example, maybe you owned a CRX at one time), there are plenty of other obvious hot hatches to choose from. The 207 I pulled out of the premium lot a few weeks ago was crazy fast with very little tuning. I spent all last night on my 106 and it was OK, but still had tons of understeer. I started at the back on the 2nd DFR race and passed half of the cars on the big bend at the far end of the track because everyone missed their brake zones. Before that I could barely get an edge on anyone.

In short...stay on the track and you'll have a much better chance of running with the top cars. Learn to brake early and light and load the tires gradually as you enter turns. You'll be able to catch the slip point and make adjustments. When you brake hard and late you have no escape route for missing your braking point or adjusting for worn or cold tires.

I still consider, say a Focus ZX5, or 4-door Golf, to be hatches. I suppose, if there are still people who want to drive their DSMs, there could be a FF "sport compact" night.

What's the make for Thursday?

in real gt races contacts are normal, what chuyler made to nic is not normal. sure if you watch nascar you cannot know what a rase really is

this is the video i associate with AOK:

:sly:

Ok guys, I hate dirty driving and I'm not a fan of AOK's driving in our lobbies but at this point, you guys are beating a dead horse. He's already been told not to join and everybody knows what he's done. It's known, so can we end this arguement and focus on racing cars again?

Yes, I do think there are five-door hatches. I the the three-door ones are the "hot" hatches.

ST170/SVT could be had in "ZX3" and "ZX5." The GTI comes with 4 doors, too.

The Suzuki I was in briefly last night (didn't race) would be a hatch back but not a hot hatch.

But I admit, I am only pointing out examples of cars that blur the definitions in real life, and I completely support hot hatch night as a night for 2 door cars with a lift gate that extends to the rear bumper.

Didn't think about it until now, but the Golf IV is a four-door. Only fair to let it in.

Had a lot of fun racing tonight....lots of good drivers and it was pretty clean. In the last two races the heavy damage was put in place for some reason, and in the last race, someone ran into something on the edge of the track in front of me, spun, I couldn't avoid them, got a 19 second shortcut penalty and massive damage. Ruined what would otherwise have been a competitive race.

That was me sorry. I was trying to give you room to pass and got to close to that barrier.
Ended my race as well.

I asked about the 4 door Golf and was told no.

LOl..sorry Lead...that was a pretty epic crash actually. I mentioned it to highlight my frustration with having heavy damage on and how, as I mentioned above, I always seem to be an innocent victim of it. I would have struggled on even with the 19 second penalty but my car was destroyed.

my phone was blowing up and people were stopping by last night, i think i only did 2 races. It was fun!

Re: 4-door hatches. I excluded them because people were taking liberties with 4 door vehicles and I simply couldn't find a way to explain that a mid sized sedan that has replaced its trunk with a lifting hatch is not really a "hot hatch".

Examples of 4-door cars with hatches that are not "hot hatches"...

The Mazda6 5-door is a mid sized sedan with a hatch, not a "hot hatch"

The Audi A4 is a wagon, not a "hot hatch"

There are a few others too.

Although the Golf IV GTI '01 is very much a hot hatch, VW fans can run the Golf I GTI '76, the Golf IV GTI R32 '03, the Golf V GTI '05, or the Lupo. I think there are enough Golf options that we don't have to include the 4-door.

I've got my Ka ready to go for the next hot hatch night.

Always fun racing with this group. Got a few races in last night. Hope to join in more in the future.

I was wondering why theres no theme for tommorow's one make race.....

WiiFreak won last week, and never selected a vehicle. Someone else want to shout out a vehicle and track?

Fiat 500 1.2 8V Lounge SS '08 on Fuji GT.

Is that the one with or without the chicane? I like the chicane.

Without, but I'll defer since I didn't win crap.

I opened a second Ring room cause the first one has a cap of only 10 drivers and I can't get in:

room # 1472-6118-4130-9219-4063

no racing for me tonight. looking forward to the Fiat tomorrow. I have one with a pretty good tune from the expert seasonal events. Will have to tweek it for online though.

Will do. It said 10/10 room full all night when trying to join through a friend who was already in the room (Booch).

i wasn't in the official room. I didn't feel like doing the ring over and over so i found another 450pp public room. didn't notice it had a 10player cap tho. :)
