What shall we do about tyre wear?

The Merc only reaches 481BHP, so it evens out.

EDIT: Oh yeah, I have the 3 cars now. The updated OCD got me the Calibra.

John- Any turbo is allowed sorry if the OP doesnt make it clear, ill go and check. PP didnt work out if thats what you meant :(
I had fogotten to delete the turbo restrictions, you can use any turbo- CONFIRMED :D
 
So whats the first track were racing at? Im guessing its Fuji again, but I wasnt sure because we still had our points from the first round lol. :D
 
I have all the spreadsheets done just got to upload them. The calendar hasnt changed apart from the dates 👍
 
Me and Joe just did some tests in the Merc and the Alfa, didnt get round to the Cally, the Merc with a tune did a 1.37.0XX round Fuji, the Alfa did a 1.36.1XX with a bad tune, had understeer, reset it to default and was on for about and early 1.35, but it disconnected, which is a bit of a pain, then it said the network was offline? Joe also found he could go 2 seconds a lap faster from 1.39s to 1.37s. Could just be we both have terrible setups on the Merc, but our tests arent looking great, will test the Cally asap :)

What turbo if at all did you set the Alfa up with Spurgy?
 
Maybe these new restrictions have left the merc in the cold?
 
Ok dude well i cant see its down to your Merc tune wouldnt make sense after the first Fuji race was the Alfa keeping pace on the Fuji straight with the Merc?
How long were your test races series spec? Would the Mercs superior tyre wear bring them into play in the later laps?
 
The tyre wear is worse on the Alfa, but no where near bad enough to let the Merc catch up. I lost about I lost about 0.5 over the first 3 laps of a stint.

yesterday after 5 laps at Tokyo you caught me by 0.8 in the final sector. i think your wrong about the mercs not being quick enough as if you got last sandman the lap before you would have been all over my rear bumper at the end



Edit: i wouldnt do simple testing online. and the alfa being quicker sounds like a bug because default Alfa isn't quicker
 
I personally dont buy it that the merc is going to struggle. On a 15 lap race the AWD cars can either pit twice or run 2-3 laps on wasted tyres. Lets see how the races go and if Alfa end up owning it we can knock them down 10 bhp. No need to worry, thats my job :D

I have observed everyone in their own cars and raced with them
I have taken into account the AWD start advantage and tight cornering ability
I have taken into account RWD tyre wear advantage and straight line speed and agility
I have reserved the right to implement bhp penalties to overly successful teams (up to 20bhp max during the season)

Well even if you come last you will get some points and somehow dont think that is going to happen :D
 
Im just here to report what I find from my tests, and at Fuji my times in the Alfa and Merc were far apart, the same for Joe, could be fine at the other tracks because as you mentioned I didnt do too bad at Tokyo, we'll just have to wait and see.
 
Thats all we can do mate, we will be racing tonight anyway. Ill be in the lounge from about 830ish if anyone wants to run the new settings in a pack 👍

Cally drivers- I am working on a good tune, my only problem is I can only get the car to go fast for 4-5 laps before you have to manage the tyres :(

merc was quick at suzuka
its about tire wear. the merc is strong at the end whereas awd struggle so id do a race and the merc comes strong at the end
 
Fun racing tonight Knelly, we start next week. I have discussed settings with Wordup to reduce lag and must insist that you all make sure your game clocks are 100% correct to the internet and you clear your caches.

Tom will be doing IndyCar at SSRX starting sometime between 8 and 9 tonight, just so you know.

For those who don't already know- you can race at SSRX even if you haven't bought it. Presumably they're letting you try it for a month or so before they put a restriction on like they did with Spa and Kart Space.
