What shall we do about tyre wear?

Spurgy we are pretty much in a no win situation.
If we carry on those people who suffered the bug have missed out on some good racing and a lot of points.
If we restart the people that have done well will have raced for nothing, and I know how you feel.

Yeah I won some races but I had a terrible one last night due to other drivers......well let's just call it exuberance on the track. So I have the chance to get some points back.

Glass is half full and all that 👍
 
Driver- Didnt see your post before so Ill reply now mate. I reckon some of the problems are down to wireless connections like they always have been, black screens and stuff. But there is no doubt that these things have got worse now that this bug has appeared, it has also added the speed up/slow down problems that have ruined online racing. We need some kind of fix from PD.

Spurgey- I feel your pain but I am not going to ruin the Merc. It does need reeling in a bit though. We will work on setting the calibra/alfa up and test them. I will be testing all the cars at 1050/1100/1180kg with hp increases in stages to maximum after that. (I emphasise the word 'testing').

Easy9- Its very easy to set the HP and weight and keep it there so no worries there.

Pipi- I want to keep the scoring as simple as possible so am not keep an any points rather than race finish. I havent had a chance to fine anyone any points yet but when we get going people will soon realise that hitting people off is a good way to end up last. Check out my FGTC OP if you want, I can be pretty harsh on drivers (even myself).

May be I have not explain myself very well, I don't have worries about setting/changing HP / weight etc. What I was suggesting is a simple handicap system a bit like BTCC, add some weight (or reduce power) to the winning drivers (or championship leaders) eg. add 30kg to the top 3 championship leaders.

Being harsh is good:tup: being harsh to yourself even better:lol:

I looked into doing that as part of this championship. Over at the DTM (I think) they were in universal agreement that adding any weight under 50kg (dont quote me) made absolutley no difference to the results. Thats why I didnt go down this route, during testing I will take into account the skill factor so wont base the settings on the actual gaps between first and last but maybe between 1st- 5th. I will also take into account the start finish positions of the first race, along with testing and the 2nd race being reverse order. Merc starts last finishes first in race 2 after wiping the floor with the competition frpm pole in race 1. I will also consider how much some people practice as it would be unfair to bring non practicing drivers in line with them.
 
Its 30kg lighter than the Alfa and I think about 200kg lighter than the Calibra. I have suggested weight restrictions a few posts back mate. 👍

Why not make it a one make series? I drive the Merc but can't practice as much as others (family/work, playing BF3! etc). I don't get any performance advantage driving it as I find it difficult beast with a loose rear end. I've used setups developed by "The Merc Masters" :bowdown: but I'm still 3-4 seconds off them! Changes such as weight/power etc would put someone like me at a major disadvantage.

Why not have a sucess ballast added to the top 3 based on the results of the nights racing? I think you'll find it difficult to neuf the better drivers no matter what you do to the cars!

Give the update time to come and do testing then. No point doing some now then new update causing the car physics to be different. :)

Agreed, IMO the best way to overcome the differences would be to limit the power on the cars so they are all about the same performance.

I don't think there's anything wrong with some cars being faster than others on different tracks.
 
1 type of car is always going to be faster, the red bulls in F1, the Hondas in BTCC and so on.
It's part of racing
 
I agree for sure but having one that is faster on all tracks is unhealthy, I dont like the idea of a one make series either.
The tweaks I am talking about will be tested and are very small, adding the hp of a fast lawnmower and making the merc carry a fat passenger and the alfa the equivilent of a small child :)
I will use the new track to drag the cars from 50 and 100 mph and to test top speeds 👍
 
Can someone who saved the replay for the 2nd div 2 race confirm the results please. I cant get to the PS3 and I need the points tally to work something out.

It is only 60kg heavier :) or 80 if you have the other version. I wouldnt think it would make too much difference or does it?

Andy- I have the vauxhall which is 20kg lighter than the opel. Maybe I am losing it but I thought it weighed around 220kg more than the merc and 190kg more than the Alfa.

Just check and can confirm KM finished in seventh ahead of me .... Somehow!
 
Wasn't MarkyParky in that race too, before he disconnected? Or am I imagining things? (I don't have the replay so can't confirm)
