Watching qwali now on indycar website.

Anyone knows if the race will also be broadcasted? or on tv on eurosport, motorstv? because the channel showing it in holland (rtl7) is not going to show it :(

This is gooding good, the speeds are getting faster and faster and pole position is changing hands every hour

Im confused, commentator said Andretti is behind Patrick but the standings say Andretti P1 and Patrick P6? What am i missing haha?

I think those are practice times, wonder why they haven't updated it. 45 minutes left until we know who starts on pole

edit: It appears that is the order in which the cars will go on track, with the first car either the last car that was on track or the one that is on it currently or the next in line

edit2: another crash. it's going to take a while to clean that up which means less shots for guys trying tot ake pole. There is nothing like the drama of pole day at Indy

Wow Bob Jenkins calling practice for the indycar website, he should replace Scott Goodyear in the booth for qualifying and the race.

I would love to see Bob Jenkins, Paul Page, Danny Sullivan, and Jon Beekus call the race and the entire season.

I sometimes call the Indianapolis Motor Speedway as the world's fastest road course. The turns have such a feel to them which make them unlike any oval. So much history here since 1911. I think people who normally don't like oval racing will love this race simply because it's a very historic race. You get tested on all fronts here. All four corners are seeimingly identical in layout. It feels more like a road course than your average oval.

The storyline I'd like to follow is on my beloved Danica Patrick. She's finished pretty well here. While her win at Motegi was so last month, could she keep up her momentum and probably win this race? Could she be the first woman to have her face modled on the Borg-Warner Trophy? Danica Patrick's Indy run will be my storyline.

Any of you others care to offer your storylines for this race?

My storyline is whether the Ganassi cars can stay up front in race trim and stay reliable.

One of these drivers will win,

Dan Wheldon
Scott Dixon
Helio Castroneves
Tony Kanaan

Danica is my dark horse

I don't include Marco because the Andretti curse is very much alive and well.

Remember when Marco Andretti was going to win the race... until a guy named Sam Hornish Jr. overtook him down the front stretch? Possibly the damndest heartbreaker ever at that track. He still has to be game at Indy.

Any other storylines?

Time for FACT OR FICTION. Feel free to prognosticate!

1.) Danica Patrick will finish at least 5th.

2.) Both Sarah Fisher and Milka Duno will finish regardless of final classification.

3.) Ryan Hunter-Reay will finish no higher than 15th (finish of 15th or worse).

4.) At least two Brazilians will finish in the Top 5.

5.) Marco Andretti will not finish.

6.) Of the ex-Champ Car stars, Will Power will finish highest.

7.) Hideki Mutoh will finish.

8.) The highest-ranked South American will be Tony Kannan.

9.) Graham Rahal will finish higher than A.J. Foyt IV

10.) Helio Castroneves will lead at least three laps.

The race is Sunday. Have at this!

1.) Danica Patrick will finish at least 5th.
A) Fact, I'm not sure about the outright win, but she has always done pretty decently at Indy, Top 3 should be a realistic target.

2.) Both Sarah Fisher and Milka Duno will finish regardless of final classification.
A) Fiction, whilst I can see Sarah seeing the chequered, I don't know much about Milka so I'll go with the safe bet. :P

3.) Ryan Hunter-Reay will finish no higher than 15th (finish of 15th or worse).
A) Fiction, I reckon with a number of rookies this year, this could be a race of high attrition, if Ryan keeps it on the road, top 15 should be child play.

4.) At least two Brazilians will finish in the Top 5.
A) Fact, Castroneves and Kanaan are both more than capible of getting right up there.

5.) Marco Andretti will not finish.
A) Bit harsh on the guy, I'll go with Fiction, after the tight finish of '06, Marco knows hwo to race thsi track, he should do fine.

6.) Of the ex-Champ Car stars, Will Power will finish highest.
A) Fiction, I'm looking at Oriol Servia, afterall he has experience in this race.

7.) Hideki Mutoh will finish.
A) Fact, although I do not know much about him.

8.) The highest-ranked South American will be Tony Kannan.
A) Fact, but only just ahead of Helio.

9.) Graham Rahal will finish higher than A.J. Foyt IV
A) Fact, Mr Foyt IV hasn't really impressed me from what I've seen of him.

10.) Helio Castroneves will lead at least three laps.
A) Fact, but only because I think there will be alot of lead changes due to caution periods.

From IRL Timing and Scoring:
Lap 79: Yellow for heavy right side contact in Turn 2 by #34 Jaime Camara.
And it looked really hard too. :ill: Fortunately, he's looks to be pretty much OK. He was taking the steering wheel off as the wrecked car was sliding to a stop long the inside of thew North Short Chute. :embarrassed:

EDIT: At the half-way mark, Tony Kannan leads. Can he lead at the finish?

EDIT #2: From IRL Timing and Scoring:
Lap 105: Yellow for heavy contact in Turn 3 between Tony Kanaan and Sarah Fisher.
Translation: Nope. :P

Going into 3, Indianapolis Marco(based on the livery and drivers suit scheme for this race) was passing on the inside of Tony, and he had nowhere to go it seems. And driving over the marbles at the speed he was going didn't help much either. Dunno if Sarah tried to avoid the crash but she probably didn't have much time to avoid it. :(

EDIT: From IRL Timing and Scoring:
Lap 113: No start due to Jeff Simmons making contact on the frontstretch. Something may have broke on the car.
Probably happpened as he was trying to keep the tires warmed.

I'm routing for tomas schecter

Poor sarah fisher, shes had to work hard for everything

marco andretti has everything handed to him on a silver platter

Scott Goodyear and Eddie Cheever are terrible. I mean monumentally bad. Please silence their mics for the rest of the race.

You could always put on the IMS Radio Network feed. :D

EDIT: From IRL Timing and scoring:
Lap 132: Yellow for heavy contact in Turn 2 by #02 Justin Wilson. He is able to continue and stop on the inside.
Just lost control of the car from the turbulence from the cars ahead of him and spun into the inside wall it seems.

At 150 laps, Scott Dixon leads. Marco Andretti is 2nd and Tomas Scheckter is 3rd.

EDIT: Alex Lloyd loses control and crashes his car coming into the pits after brushing the wall off of Turn 4.

I really want to watch this race but there are soooooooo many commercial interruptions, commentary sidebars it's way too irritating. It's an advertising nightmare. (But I'm watching it anyway) Another break? Sure why not... LOL

I'd like to see Scheckter take it as well. 👍

Wow that was close...whew!
