Well.. Seeing that Idiot Racer was banned, I have a suggestion.

Why don't we make a list of 'temporary' banned people at the very bottom of the forum, along with the number of days they will be banned for?

Who's responsible for the second banning? I nominate boombexus and that guy, whoever it is, as mods of the year. Taking the trash out, one at a time. 👍
 
Nope. Sorry. No such list will be made.

As for Idiot Racer, he has been permanently banned. Yes, I did ban him. After all the times he was defended, he still thought it was appropriate to post a porn link.

His IP address is also being banned. He will no longer have the ability to post here at GTPlanet.

If he's IP banned that means he can't even view as a guest right?

When I was banned I couldn't view GTP as a guest, even after clearing cookies and such, why was that?

I think it's bacause the cookies don't use the ip and it maybe was an ip ban but i'm only guessing at this

Your IP, or Internet Protocol is a unique signal sent out by your machine that helps you browse the net. If a server bans your IP addy, then you can't view the site because it thinks that you're a hacker or someone and will not send you the information required to view the pages (as you could use that against it).

I know, I was actually hoping for an answer from a mod.

I thought IP bans were the last resort and not used the first time?

I'm not sure about that... the only thing I'm positive on is that when an IP address is banned, that user can't login.

They're not used for the first time, except in extreme cases, such as when a brand-new member floods a forum with in porn (or like those threads that Mang posted).

Officially, our stance is that an IP address is banned on the second banning, but we obviously have to look at every situation independently.

Yes, hence the clearing of cookies. Even after that I should've turned up as a guest as it wouldn't have remembered to try and log me in.
 
I guess, that must of been a IP banning.

Do you have a Dynamic or Static IP?

You probably have a Static, If I'm correct. If not, I have no clue.
 
No, there are no plans on integrating a list of temporarily banned users.
