Academy Edition / DLC question

Sorry if this has been covered already, search doesn't seem to work for me.

Is the DLC on the Academy Edition disk or are there codes in the manual or something?

If I buy a second hand copy, will I get the DLC or not?

Which would explain why the sealed copies are twice the price of the unsealed.

So the next question is: is the DLC tied to the disk? So could I buy a copy, use the codes then sell the physical copy on?
