First off, sorry for digging up an old thread, but I'm having trouble completing the last level, and I hope someone can help me. The post earlier on what to do at this stage wasn't very clear to me, sorry. I got this game for my birthday, man, is it fun! I should've bought it a long time ago!

I shoot the squad down, no biggie. Then, I head for the big Megalith thing, and quickly enter and destroy the first of three generators.

Next, I enter from the rear, he-he, and shoot the second generator. Then, I enter the Megalith via the side, and take out the third and final generator.

The exhaust port to the center of the Meg opens up, and I go inside to find a giant missle. But, when I try to hit it with a missle, it does nothing, and I crash into it, or crash into the ceiling, which I think begins to open up.

Also, there are missles shooting off outside of the Megalith while doing this. Should I be shooting them down, or what?

If I do shoot the big missle down, what else is there to do? Any tips would be greatly appreciated. 👍

After you knock down the generators, you need to destroy the missiles that start launching. Don't worry if one gets away, but you do need to hit at least one. Then afterburn down the middle exhaust port. Keep your speed at 200 knots and make sure you get a lock-on the missile. Fire at the missile and hit your airbrake to slow down, the doors should open to fly out.

After that, you get the ending.

A classic anime style jet fighter game.
I liked that beach level, where you have to bomb all those tanks and stuff.
Huh-huhuh huh huh bombs are cool HUUHuh huh.

Im glad to see this thread come back up.

This was one of the first titles I got for my ps2, and it is still one of the best. (second only to gt3)

I will be back with stats, but I can say with certainty that I have played it a ton. :D

:edit:
Holy crap mugen...

Nice stats. :D

Im at:
total flight time= 53.53'40
air tgt= 6018
grnd tgt= 9413

Unlocked everything...
Trial missions all at (A) except for the yellow squadron face off which is at (S).
Blah... It's still far less than you mugen... anyway.
Later. :D

Done! Woo-hoo! :D

Thanks Viper Zero for the help. 👍

I'm already going through the game a second time. Again, great game!

I still don't know how to buy a different color aircraft. I mean, I know you look for them, then shoot them down in the game, but how can I select a different color aircraft to purchase? Or, do I just buy what they give me?

Oh, what's the last jet to purchase. I have all the planes, but the last one. Well, I don't have them; they're just available for purchase.

I bought the A-10, fun and the best jet to use for ground attacks, and the F-22. The F-22 is the best "all-around" performer. I would like to buy one other jet, a air-to-air fighter. Which is better, the SU-37, or the other 37?

 , and thanks for the great tips. 👍

No problem, Solid. 👍

In the purchase menu, there is the row of boxes that represent the fighters. If you press up or down, you can select the alternate ISAF paint scheme or the FEAF Aces paint scemes (if you unlocked them).

The SU-37A (swept foward wings) is statisticly better than the SU-37, but I enjoy the SU-37 more because of the design.

That is what I thought, but I didn't get any different paint schemes yet. I don't go looking for them; I just shoot every plane I come across, then shoot at what ever else is left over on the ground. I'm half finished with my second run through, and it's still a lot of fun.

I already went with the S-37A. I was at the "Shattered Skies" dog fight stage, the one where you have to protect the launch of the rocket. I figured, if I didn't like it, I'll just exit the game, and start all over. I loved it, so, I kept it.

I wanted to wiegh in on this su-37 vs su-37a comparison.

I say the su-37a (in application) is the better plane. ( I love to use big bombs on targets. )

However, the su-37a does not have thrust vectoring engines. The su-37 does have this feature. The engine movement is awesome for high speed manuverability. I use my yellow 13 more than any other plane. Only my f14 and third x02 see use on the level of my yellow13.

btw, I popped this in the other day for the stats and played a mission. Used the black f14. :D

Anyway, catch you all later.
Glad to see ac4 on the minds of players around here.
bye.

Ace Combat 4: Shattered Skies

Bonus options:

Successfully complete all 18 missions, then save the game. Load the saved game to unlock the following new options at the main menu. The "Special Continue" option allows the entire game to be replayed with new fighters and weapons, plus the money earned in the first game. The "Free Mission" option allows any mission to be played. The "Trial Mission" option allows the game to be played in either score attack or time attack modes. The "Scene Viewer" allows FMV sequences to be played. The "Music Player" option allows any of the 36 songs in the game to be played.

All aircraft:

Use the following steps to unlock all aircraft, including special colors. First, acquire an aircraft by destroying it in battle. This is easy, except for three aircraft. Forget the ground targets and dogfight instead, which is the true nature of an ace. You can acquire three different paint schemes for each aircraft. Two of the paint schemes can be acquired by destroying that color aircraft in battle. To acquire the special brightly colored third aircraft, you must find and kill the pilot flying it. On each level of the game there is a single hidden aircraft (eighteen total hidden aircraft). Each one of these aircraft has a specific pilot. When you see the aircraft in front of you and lock on, it will display the pilot's name next to the aircraft name and lock on square. For example, "S-37A SMIRNOVA." The hidden aircraft will not show up on radar until you get nearby. On radar, the aircraft will be marked with a red triangle instead of yellow. Each hidden aircraft is always in the same place on their specific level. This is always in an empty spot on the map away from the main combat zone. The aircraft can usually be found directly behind the main combat zone. Last but not least are the three remaining aircraft. To acquire the Yellow Squadron fighter (SU-37) of your nemesis Yellow-13, you must kill all of the pilots with names flying the special colored aircraft (eighteen total).

Unlock X-02 Stealth:
To unlock the X-02 Stealth, get an "S" rank on all 18 missions under normal mode.

Unlock Tiger Striped F-4E:
You can get the Tiger Striped F-4E by completing the game once under any difficulty setting, then using the Sp. Continue option.

To unlock the second X-02 aircraft you must get an "S" rank on all eighteen missions under the hard difficulty setting.

The third X-02 is unlocked by getting an "S" rank on all eighteen missions under the expert difficulty setting.

Alternate colors: Successfully complete the game in ace mode.
Note: You may also need to obtain S-class for all missions.
