Paulie, you already have the Zipang.. You just need to purchase it in the plane tree special planes section :P

Well I've got a few hours left in the rankings and was in the top 7k so I'm going to burn all my fuel on one last push.

When they say that, I think they mean the event for the Zipang is being held, so you get extra credits. But you have to obtain the Zipang as a random drop. Just to give you an example, I've been playing everyday since the event, and I JUST got my Zipang today. So keep at it .

You were right I think! I got my Zipang today.:D I'm so happy.

Wise arse.:P

Well I've got a few hours left in the rankings and was in the top 7k so I'm going to burn all my fuel on one last push.

I got to 5000-something before I ran out of fuel just before, isn't the event meant to be over now?

Just ran out of fuel. But I'm now first lieutenet and closing in on the Su-35!

I got to first lieutenant today as well! I had over 30 stocked fuels, and using the advice from @sumbrownkid from the other day I started scoring well and finding others doing the same, got a lot of S Ranks today, I started doing forced sorties with 3 units of fuel at a time today, a mercenary contract and a plant investment contract and went from jack all to a Lv.4 Super Hornet that performs well enough to take down the tough enemies.
Edit: BTW @sumbrownkid, with your advice of sticking to higher rated targets and the upgraded missiles/parts/performance of my Super Hornet I went from averaging mid 20k's with the occasional 30k sortie to averaging 30k's unless it's an awesome room with all better pilots. I even scored over 40k for the first time today, a one-time apparition.

Edit 2: Yes the Mercenary King tournament is now over, I finished 5457th, where did ya'll end up? Man I can't wait to get the F-35 (they should have included the F-35A not the F-35B as the A makes for a better fighter jet). I know people hate the F-35 and it gets bad press but I still like them, and with Australia getting them that like is only strengthened. It's probably the strongest multi-role jet too, and can take 32 parts slots in each category which is the most of any jet I believe. Now if only this game had the F-111, I could have had 3 sets with 3 jets out of the RAAF. One day I'll get HAWX 2 just for the extra jets in that game.

Just how do you get the fuel in this damn game? I'm sick of having to wait 4 hours for one unit of fuel :P And no, I can't buy any online due to being broke :P

Check the Challenges section a few of them give stocked fuel as a reward. (BTW you get 20 stocked fuel for finishing mission 5 but be sure to activate that challenge first unless you like playing levels twice like I do )

Starting to score over 40k on a more consistent basis in a room full of "lesser" pilots, I got a PB of 52k in one mission tonight (sure helped me get the "Score 120k Pts" challenge in 3 missions of Supplied Fuel rather than 4 with a stocked fuel tonight). The highest I've seen was some dude get over 60k, I've yet to see anyone get over 100k and doubt I ever will with me taking some kills. I did get in a full lobby of freaks once though, they'd have everything annhilated before you even point your jet in the right direction. I think I scored circa 25k in that lobby.

I'm currently working my way towards the F-35, but I have a feeling I'll still use the Super Hornet a fair bit afterwards. If credits weren't slim pickings I'd love to cruise around in a decked out F-4 on Lv.10, can't be too bad.

For those of you who have played more than the ~12 sorties I have; does the game start to pressure you into buying things? For instance, do the credits requirements ramp up dramatically while payouts remain the same? Do jets deeper in the tree take so long to research that it's impractical to unlock them without buying research reports?

I really like it, I played it for maybe three hours straight last night (and ended up with about five more units of stocked fuel than I had when I started) and got as far as buying the Su-25, which also bankrupted me just a little... What can I say, I like attack jets. I'm looking forward to getting the A-10 and F-117. It still blows my mind that the F-117 was a real jet, technology is mad.

Yeah the payouts remain the same pretty much although I have heard the Moby dick mission 2 and 3 payout huge if you win. The planned do get more expensive I am trying to get the f22 and the f18 was suddenly 160k. Research wise yeah that is slowing down but I didn't know you could buy research reports:lol:

I don't see why you would need to buy research reports when you can earn them from those easy challenges. :)👍

Indeed. I have like 25 of them(aircraft, anyway) and I haven't really been trying to get them. The main problem for me is credits. 3 sorties in an evening doesn't net you too much, particularly when you're generally getting Cs and the occasional B rating. At least you can re-earn the Mercenary Contracts and then once a week or so activate one and use up some stocked fuel when you have some time to play.

That was frustrating tonight, all the average pilots are gone or have moved in to better jets than I have, because I could barely target anything without it being killed before I even got a chance.

With the research reports I tend to never let them get to beyond 2 stocked because it looks like I get a 1% bonus on the 2nd one I use (e.g. - report 1 gives me 5% research on plane x. Report 2 then gives me 6% research on plane x).

If it hasn't been covered in the thread look for rooms that have a similar matching rate to you. It's the number next to the connection bars when you're on the co-op room search lobby.

That number is only for the host, not the lobby as a whole.

Which gives you a good indication of the matching rate of the members in the room 👍

Sometimes. It does depend on their lobby settings how close everyone will be. And of course people in the 1490s may be new players who don't know what they are doing yet and are on the way down, while people in the 1460s may be people who have gotten the hang of things and some better equipment and are reasonable quality wingmen on the way back up. Definitely better than nothing however.

I had a rough night last night myself. Either everyone on my side was helpless and incapable of scoring over 5000 points so nearly getting [low-scoring] MVP did me little good, or else everyone in the room was targeting and destroying everything I targeted before I could even see it - while still somehow not clearing the important targets. Of course this wouldn't bother me if I could play more than half an hour at a time, but it kind of sucks when that's what you get and all you can play. It's a really fun game, I wish they would let me buy the damn thing. On the other hand, I've started getting fuel drops again, so I was able to stock up a bit more for the future.

I need to get better at using the radar to find things. Which reminds me, one thing I do despise about this game is the radar and targeting controls. It can be a horrible chore to get the target you want selected, and then sometimes as you fly around switching targets means it's been destroyed... sometimes it just means you've randomly been forced to switch targets and need to find it again. For the radar, I just witsh the map screens wouldn't stay on forever once you switch to them.

I can't even begin to explain how frustrating it is for me as well. It would be nice if you could have some sort of preset option for it to only lock-on to air targets or ground ones. It's highest-priority system is really annoying. No, I do not care about that SP ship across the entire map, I want these F-14s that are flying around me.

I often switch to my special weapon when I want an air target nearby then switch back to standard missiles as the target stays the same then.

That is usually what I will do. Unless I am flying the F16DR

This is why you proceed to check every other room members matching rate once you enter a room with a host that has the same matching rate as yours. I should have been more articulate in my initial post but that will be saved for when something actually warrants a post without any loopholes ;)

Pro-tip: Go for lobbies that have a host matching rate of 1500+. Even if you score poorly you will still get a fatter paycheck with a high mission rank. Unless of course you wanted to actually have a reasonable part to play in the sorties success, in which case it's worthwhile to check out rooms where there are a maximum of 4-6 players so there are targets left by bots for you to enjoy while still reaping the rewards of a high rank thanks to some outliers present in the room 👍

EDIT: Just stumbled on Moby Dick Pursuit II and force sortied with 2 units of supplied fuel. We got the A rank but didn't manage to destroy the core...

The payout was relatively awesome but could have been so much more had we successfully downed Aigaion :banghead:

I've been meaning to play this game for the past few days but responsibilities keep coming up and punch me in the face.:grumpy:
I know right?

I'm still out to get the Golden Moby Dick (AKA Moby dick Pursuit III), and I'm still to get the Su-35, thankfully though I set-up a rather decent Mig-29 and I'm MVP nearly every match. The path of T-50 is indeed the most arduous one.

The games balance is quite good in this respect. I like how they've set up the current special challenges so that it makes you explore other branches in the aircraft tree.

The Mirage is an excellent plane for missions requiring quick work of ground targets; particularly in Tokyo while the F-16 holds it's own during the special raid ones. Can't beleive the amount of credits I blew on the limited time F-16 after flying a level 3 Mirage!

Funny I say that because I finally managed to get back into it and got around to upgrading the F-18 to level 10. Though the stats jump is not much from level 9, it just feels much better. The biggest gain is in armor, which is an A.

How did you get it to Level 10 so quick? Were you buying all the contracts and stocked fuels off PSN?
I wish all my jets were level 10 and I already had bought everything I've unlocked so far, but I can't get nearly that kind of credits.
