Yes, because sometimes and given the area the reception for their team radio isn't always the best, and so they're able to contact the team whether or not everything is okay and let them know if they crashed. Not sure if that's necessarely the case for the 24h, but that's the case for VLN and RCN, and probably for all of the participating amateur teams.

Have to presume so, no other reason unless the race director is paid by the hour and prefers an easy life.

Be careful out on that dry clean track guys, you might get swept away...

I thought they were (slowly) working on getting the cars back on the track in time for the restart. Takes a while with 150 cars.

Which is why they should have been doing this an hour ago, the field would have spread, the tyres would be warm and the drivers will have set a line. Rather then starting in a clump with cold tyres and changing conditions.
