Isn't the levin single overhead cam and the trueno duel overhead cam?
Read trueno's above posts, they explain it all.

Great posts Trueno86. I started reading the first couple of posts by the "expert" and couldn't believe how much false information he was spitting out.

No comments... the only thing I say is:

Try a AE86, not in a game, in real life... you will understand.

Trueno86Power.

The Levin would be slightly lighter... as the pop ups add a little weight.

The LSD was available in the USA, just so ya know.

SR5 in the US did have the Carb engine.

Basically, Trueno86 nailed it right. And its not like I have a preference ot people here, I got on his case good about the tip on tires post :p

The slight difference in power output is due to the EGR and octane issues that arise in the US. A higher octane of gas is available off street pumps in Japan, and emissions requirements are also different.

The slight difference in power output is due to the EGR and octane issues that arise in the US. A higher octane of gas is available off street pumps in Japan, and emissions requirements are also different.

The octanes availible in japan are only slightly higher. 101 Octane in Japan is equivalent to 92 RON in the US. All 5 rib 4AGE's use such a low compression that running anything over 87 (US RON) on stock timing, is a waste of money. The power difference is not only due to the EGR, but also to the fact that JDM 5 rib's use a MAP sensor instead of AFM.

Oh yeah, and don't underestimate the power difference. 5 rib's are so low on power as it is, anything helps. :)

trueno and levin are the same.
only difference is the panel, light. (you can actually take the panel from levin and swap it with trueno)
1.5soch (3AU) is the engine from AE85
it use K50 transmission, and carb
1.6dohc (4AGE) is the engine from AE86
it use T50 transmission, and EFI

not all GTV and GT-Apex have LSD

I'm not really sure if pop up make any huge difference in weight, I don't think is does but I could be wrong because I have not research on this. but as far as I know levin and trueno has same weight, the only weight difference is when its hatchback or notchback.

As far I know about power, US version of 86 has slight less power than JDM version. US version using AFM sensor, JDM using MAP sensor.

JDM has the pre facelift (Zenki) and facelift model (Kouki) and at end of production they have the black limited edition.

Basically Levin and Trueno are the same.

Edit:
GTV and GT-Apex has small diferences, GTV basically slightly more lighter compared to GT-Apex. GT-Apex is more luxury type.

BTW: don't forget about the hood and the front quarter panels :)

me, being a AE86 owner for 9 years... this thread cracks me up! Trueno86GTV and Trueno86power you've basically broke it down for all the inital d folks. 👍

European 'Levin' was called Corolla GT Coupé and had 128HP stock. Damn, that was a kickass car - we had a blue 1985 model.

Would really woop them MB taxi's in Copenhagen's ass :P

eh..... i see trueno's and levins around in chicago.......and its horrible
alll mest up not washed

I wish i wuz the grand theft auto guy - and get them off the car and take it whit me

BTW- ive learned alot of things from the trueno and levin good job 👍

Green jack is smoking something good...

Trueno86... the US spec 4a produced 112 HP, the Japanese market one produced 128 I think.

Its pretty easy to get that power otu as well, mostly via the EGR system...

Omnis
they are twin models. that means they both come from the same years.

the AE86 Levin and Trueno more commonly known as the 8 6 both are from 1983 not 86 there is models called the AE85 Levin and Trueno exactly the same as the AE86 except the AE85 is Single Over Head Cam and the AE86 is Double Over Head Cam (SOHC and DOHC) the AE86 model has more power that the AE85.

the special model of the AE86 is the S.S or Shuichi Shigeno version which is a normal AE86 with a carbon bonnet/hood and it has the black Watanabe wheels (like on Takumi's car in initial D) and an engine with more revvs 12,000 Rpm infact and more power. thats about all you need to know about the AE86 Levin and Trueno

It revs only up tp 9,500 RPM, and it suck... in the movie it revs up tp 11,000 RPM :scared:

the levin doesnt have rear disc brakes

Levin, Trueno whatever it's called, my first car was a '85 Corolla GT-S with 4 wheel disc brakes. I bought it pretty banged up in 1988 with over 70,000 miles on it. It looked like crap but Damn I loved that car. I was just trying to get some wheels and was totally clueless about the performance when i got it. Who knew? That thing hauled butt. The gears were so short that in 5th gear at 60 mph you were running @ almost 4000 rpm. You could get from 60mph to 90+ in the blink of an eye. I think the redline was 7250 or so. Six cars later it's still the most fun I've had behind the wheel.

Trueno86power
128hp? Imposible... All the "sport model's" of AE86 got the 4AG, and they got 112hp stock...

Trueno86 the info that post is corect, all Ae86 apex have 128 hp stock, I know because i have one, a sprinter levin.

Nop .... the Levin and the Trueno have rear disk

The original Levin/trueno 4-age engine is a 1.6L 128hp 16v and only makes 8.000 rpm ... what you see in the movie is a upgrade engine...

The engine you see in the movie its a engine from the Ae-111 and is a 20v engine capable of making 12.000 rpm at full upgrade.

Where some fotos of my Levin

There's different variations of the 16V 4AGE though. USDM Rollas got ripped bigtime with the Bluetop 4AG. It's all about the Redtop 4AG with ITB's, unless you've got the luxury of going 20V.

I thought we already cleared this up..

MAP 4AGE 5 Ribs made 128hp stock, new
AFM 4AGE 5 Ribs made 112hp stock, new

Where'd you get this expert information?

this thread is so misleading, some of you guys need to do more reasearch before you enter some info about AE86's and have noobs pick up wrong answers!

another thing is that, stop comparing JDM vs USDM. the game was based on the JDM version. japan have different smog specs then the united states (more so in california)
