With all the inconsistent grip issues I had in practice, I was quite pleased with the first race. I didn't do much racing as things go spread out from the front and the back, I was in the middle. But I was consistently within my practice times. Second race was exciting trying to keep with Owens (which I actually did for maybe 2 laps...I tried letting you go in chicane...tried braking a little early, got messed up when you pulled back behind me). The last lap looked exciting as hell based on the position grid. The replay was a blast to watch. Just hoping some day I break this plateau I seem to be on with my speed and be able to run with some of you guys like that. Great racing for sure.

This looks like you are in the control tower overlooking the track 👍

Was great racing today. Qualification was bad for me as I just couldn't get into it and posted a lap over a second slower than I did on Tuesday. Still wouldn't have been near Carracer on any day of the week, he was completely a class apart today. 👍

Race 2 was good fun, got to go wheel to wheel with Carracer, Hydro, WRP, Owens and on the last lap bdub. It was constant jostling for position every lap, it was clean and fair, but sometimes harsh. The last lap was chaotic. I was surprised when WRP and Hydro both overtook me in the same corner at the start of sector 2, but what I really couldn't believe was when they both went off at Dunlop (maybe Hydro pulled off, I'm not sure), but as I was shocked, bdub came by me on the inside. I followed him closely, and was planning to pass him on the back straight into the chicane, but I messed up the last corner in sector 3 and had to use the draft just to catch up. But the strange events continued as bdub went in too deep into the chicane and left me in an awkward spot to avoid hitting him. Next thing that happens is Owens flying around the outside of me and him going side-by-side with bdub into the last corner followed by a drag race between them to the line. Good stuff. 👍

I wanted to mention the "no grip bug" I had last night.
When I fist joined the room it was "odd ish" but ok, nothing so bad I couldn't drive.
The when W77 came, all the grip disappeared, Really the worst I have had it go.
The turn 1 braking distance was a good 30M to 40M longer, I would just slide by the apex. The grip line was gone. I could put the car anywhere and it would just slide.
My normal laps are 17.4s in a lounge and open lobby. I could just get an 18.9.
I would like to say for sure, but I didn't stop watch it, the game clock was "Skipping"

I left the room, cleared the in game network settings. I tried to get in the room, only to have the request time out, then again, only to get the "incompatible with host [755]"

I left, rebooted the game, network, checked all the cables. Turned on my laptop, plugged it to the network (Nothing other than the PS3 is online when I race), posted here. Closed the computer.

Got in the room this time with ~90% grip. I was testing the corners, and like a major joke, 2% grip just popped up. I was going into carousal I braked at my normal point, never slowed down, looked at the brake bar, full power, still sliding. It was like having CH tires in the rain. I hit the sand trap and finally slowed down.

I got back on track, tired it again, and I had GRIP YES, I was about to leave after that.
I tried to get my lap in, I played it safe, I was very happy with a 17.6.

Then I hit sector 1 near perfect, was up half a lap, looking at a 17.1 or 17.0. I was going for my first 16. Then the grip "shuttered". It left, then came back very quickly. Just long enough to put me in the sand.

When the race started, I was driving at about 85% pace, I didn't push any corners so if something happened I could have a chance.

On race 2, I had 100% grip, I was so shocked, I didn't know what to do with it.

I was racing at this same track, way before SPEC 2.02, and had the same problem. It was a series race and from lap 1 to 9 I had no grip, then after that, grip came back.

Point is, this "bug" is very annoying.

Hmmmm. I wonder if me running 3 PS3's is amplifying the problem. Your problems started when I entered the room and when I didn't run the second race everything was fine. That kinda blows.

Did anybody else have similar experiences?

Due to unforeseen circumstances, I will be dropping out of this series. I wish you all the best of luck.

No. I'm not good enough honestly to notice 2-5% grip changes but the car behaved normal for me.

I don't see how your 3 ps3 setup could affect us. I see how it could affect you. Your ps3's have to coordinate, but you are not sending or receiving any more or less info to/from us... In other words my ps3 doesn't give a rats rear quarter panel whether you have 1 or 5 screens.

I think if we keep the grids this size until bug is fixed we will be fine. Great racing... Want more. But alas being away from kids (and wife) all week due to business travel the prudent thing to do is spend time with family today so no GT5 for me. Good luck.

Ps. Go pats.

Seems to me the bug is sporadic and comes and goes randomly. We had great grip in a practice session on Thursday, but on Tuesday with a very limited field I had good grip in the first half of a race and less in the second half. I was running in the 17's before entering the room and couldn't best 18.7 in qualifying. Lost my tire noise too which I really use when driving. It comes and it goes, you just have to race with whatever you get and go from there. Doesn't affect us all equally but what can you do?

I am still unsure how the whole three-monitor thing works, but if Brandon's PS3 in addition to processing some P2P traffic now has an extra task of communicating with two more PS3s, I can theoretically see how this could affect the P2P traffic going to the rest of the drivers. I don't think, however, that in this instance it caused any issues. It would seem that 11-12 people lets you avoid horrible issues with lag, but there will still be some, just not in the 3-4+ seconds per race. 9-10 seems to be most problem-free atm.

I definitely see how his lag could be impacted. I see how he may be shown jagged jumpy to us because his upload rate is impacted.

But I don't see how he could contribute to my loss of grip -- he wasn't the host either not that it matters. Otherwise we should all just stop using 1080p and downgrade to VGA or 720p.

Theoretically anything is possible, just logical arguments. Enjoy your triple screen Brandon and don't feel guilty. We had the issue before last night do I give it less than 1% probability of making any diff.

Ps. Owens can you send me the link to your brake video. I raced on broken brake pedal last night and it's not the same. Yuck.

The races were actually okay for me with grip. I am not sure if it was great grip or just okay (I am not good enough to know percentages either lol). In practice it was a different story. I would run 3-4 laps with everything feeling okay. Then I would go into turn 1 and completely overshoot the turn regardless of using the same braking point. That would just be the start. Then in every turn I couldnt get the front end to want to do anything. Of course on exit the rear would want to be way more active on throttle than any time before. I have enough issues of my own, I don't need the game screwing with me too ;). Still fun last night and again, the race trim seemed good.

Yes, that monitors setup would most likely not have had anything to do with it. I have had it happen with so many different people its not worth trying to pin point.

This I agree with. Reason aka theory.

The game already produces these extra view. I don't think anytime you look left or right you are having this brought up from no where. I think it's running on side the main view. So with that it seems it wouldn't really cause any extra computing. Maybe slight amount. But nothing taxing or cause effects.

That could be wrong as it gets. As I am just guessing.

EDIT:
Cable TV
DTM at GP/D on Speed. Highlight of race more less.

FWIW, the other 2 PS3's don't even have PSN ID's and aren't logged onto it. They share the same IP address and do their own processing so it shouldn't be an issue I'd think.

It shouldn't be an issue from what I understand as well.
The server load doesn't change due to the 3 screen setup, it still trades the same amount of data. Your 3-way system just assembles it differently (locally) to fill the 3 screens.

The ORCA_Champ lounge is now open for pre-race practice. Qualifying will begin at 3pm EST with 12 drivers.

I may have gotten a pass to drive a bit today... If there are less than 10 drivers I could join... I'll hold off and make sure everyone who hasn't raced yet this week has a spot. I may check in the lounge 15 minutes pre-quali and see what the grid size is.

I am gonna join in, in a few minutes...
But will be ready to let another have the spot if needed, as I already raced tuesday :-)

All right. DMZ correct? check. Clear system cache? check. I'm going to give it a go now. I haven't practiced much, so I can't blame a glitch for lack of speed, but I'd really like to complete at least one race this week!

Some the pictures (Unedited). These turned out the best, the light at this track hates photos.

Sorry, Owens, this was my fault, sure made a cool picture though.

I like the pics!! 👍

I also like that I completed both races!! :)

I don't like where I finished in either of them!:yuck:

A lot of what you mention is what I experienced last time I tried to race. The grip was off in the room during practice, and I was over a second off my usual pace. During qualifying the problems remained, and in attempt to mitigate some of the time losses I sat trackside through qualifying until there were ~2 minutes left, distanced myself from the other drivers to see if that would help and made my qualifying lap in one run. That lap was over a second off from a typical outlap of mine. Well more than a second off my average lap there. My outlap there is typically a high 2'16, with an average in the low-mid 16s. I hopped in the room once when PTP was there and having no time on track yet my outlap was a 2'17.1. Yet in practice/qualifying for the race I was in the 2'17.5s, way off pace. I figured I'd start the race, thinking if I'm that far off it's got to be affecting everyone, but in that first lap adding more injury I lost all tire noise. This caused me to miss every turn-in and braking point on the first lap, and closing on the final corner I decided to stuff it in the wall to let everyone pass cleanly so I could bail.

I can honestly say that the multi-monitor setup in the room has no effect on this, as I was experiencing these issues before that. This whole bug situation is very disappointing, and I'm rather anxious for this to be fixed so I can return to racing. Right now, though, any race is a gamble.

Low 16s? I have never yet put one good full pull on this track.
I have had many. many, many sectors for 16.8s to 16.5s...
Just to mess up at turn 12 (bit-Kurve) :ouch:
Never got a lap lower than a mid 16.... I need practice.

I could see 15s if someone stayed on track and ran the fuel down and grabbed fresh tires. When I practice I only run in 5-8 lap stints so that I'm only driving the car in the conditions it would see in a qualifying/race session. You were in the room the first time I ran the track. I really don't know what my 'theoretical' best would be as I don't look at sectors often, only completed laps. IIRC you need to be 41s, 1'12s, 1'44s. Again I don't know what my best sectors are but I think the above were about average.

Thanks, I spend to much time looking at sectors.
41s, 1'12s, 1'44s? Really? I would be great up to the 1.44... I could get a 1.44.9..... So that is were I was killing time.
(avg 41.8 to 42.00) 41.5 I think was my best, (avg 12.7-8) 12.4 was my best.....
Did you ever get an 1.11? Just think I was killing time in that corner and on exit.

I honestly don't know. Those sectors I posted weren't from any specific single lap or anything, and I only rarely look at the sectors, so what I posted is just what I recall seeing at some point.

Can I ask anyone when the points "images" will be updated?
And can someone give me a bit more information about the WRS VS ORCA?
I'm not sure what all applies to the ORCA drivers?

Nice pics carracer. Saved the one of my blue alfa and my best friends green alfa running side by side. Great work.

Sorry for the delay in posting the results, I had company show up right after the race and have been busy all evening. Some good racing today, had some great battles in the back during the first race and brought home a podium for the second race. I think the monitors are dialed in pretty nicely now, everything felt more comfortable and natural than last night.

Anybody considering the triple vision should make sure to have plenty of patience for setting up the view, I haven't been able to find any specific info on what 2 of the 3 settings do so there's been lots of trial and error but I've pretty much got it now. And it's fantabulous. :)

Anyway, here are the results of today's races. RDAardvark or myself should have the points updates by tomorrow.

Here's a quick video of my buddy trying out the new setup.

^^^ Is it just me, or does the color on your right side monitor look all screwed up? Sweet setup you got there, I'm extremely jealous. Good to see you've adjusted to driving with the triple screens better too.
