I looked on those sites, too but walmart.com was about $30 cheaper per monitor. But screw 'em. :crazy:

I mainly went for price, 1080p and response rate. My current 32" is a kinda crappy Sanyo 720p lcd that has about a 10 minute response/refresh rate so pretty much anything is gonna be an upgrade.

So, on my lunch break I went to Fry's Electronics and picked up these beauties. 23", 1080p, 5ms response rate. :) $150 each, in the back of my car right now.

I have the X233H 23" Acer Monitor for my computer. Got it a couple of years ago and I'm quite happy with it. I have about a 3/4" bezel so it would work great with an overlap or without.

I've seen videos of guys using an "advanced technique" where you set the center monitor slightly in front of the side monitors so it overlaps the bezel and you only have a single bezel thickness. I'm going to try setting mine up that way, should work fine based on the videos. 👍

EDIT: Like this. He's also using mixed sizes, 19" on the outside and 22" in the center. (I don't think he has them dialed in very well though)

Must be nice to be an Andretti.The pedal setup is probably straight out of a Dallara and force feedback on the seat mount.👍👍
 
I think once you have equal sizes, line them up well, and run for a while, the bezel will virtually disappear when you are racing. If it doesn't, a couple of pints will surely fix the problem of bezels!:cheers: Keep in mind a couple of Canadian pints = 4 pints American :ouch:

Since this setup is dedicated to racing, you might want to experiment with adding a black background around the perimiter of the monitors, to remove any extraneous distractions in the background and limit your field of vistion to just the monitors. Could make it feel much closer to a real cockpit type of view.

Your "boss" isn't happy with your contraption of a simulator now. Pretty sure she is not going to go for one of those. On the upside, if she leaves you, there is more room that set up :sly: . There is a silver lining in everything 💡.

Actually she doesn't mind the contraption since the stand stores under the couch and out of sight, and now that the Christmas tree is gone, she likes the way the chair looks in the corner of the room. She just doesn't like the fact that she can't watch tv when I'm using it haha.
 
all you need now is a stick on rear view mirror and some fluffy dice to hang from it.

Speaking of the Boss, just had one of those "don't spend any time together" arguments, so tonight looks like it could well be a wash, 0 for 4 on sessions I intended to make this year, going well :grumpy:

Inform her that sitting on the couch watching you race the Alfa is indeed quality time spent together, and she should appreciate the opportunity... :lol:

I has 3D tv and GT5 while neat is purely novelty in 3D. No way I could race serious like that. Online the names above cars are waaaaaay to much staggering. Glasses and 3D can become how shall I say, bit annoying after time. Makes the eyes feel worked over.

With that we are gonna watch Tron 3D again tonight. Movies are good, Animated Kids movies are incredible.

The 3D works and it def adds depth to the game. I find myself only using it as a "show off" item for GT5 while person is trying out the rig. Oh 3D is 720 on GT5 and it's noticeable on 60" DLP.

Oh Black Ops was actually pretty cool though. Siting down a gun really does look good. I still can't play serious in 3D with it either.

In conclusion. Try it before you buy it here.

The issue is the new cans, I feared they would greatly increase the alienation aspect. I got rid of my other ear piece, so I guess I'll have to go without hearing you guys and play through the 5.1 quietly again. Until she goes to bed.

I'm still tinkering with getting the angles and perspective right. It requires quite a bit of patience and trial and error. No real clear explanation of what the settings do so I just have to make and adjustment and see if it gets better or worse. I have it pretty close, good enough to race.

I'm going to eat some food real quick so I might be a few minutes later than normal, you guys can hop in the lounge whenever you want. I'll be there soon enough. :)

The right screen looks a little different than the other two, though, or is that just the angle of the camera?
 
Incredible fun tonight. Second race I adjusted my brakes down some cause I was out front and really didn't need extra pressure for avoiding cars. Well come to the down hill 180 I forgot to adjust my braking point and instead ran lil deeper. Out in the dirt. Waited waited back on track I think 7th. Drove hard to attempt catching 6th Trackbound. Managed to catch him and he nicely let me pass. Now focus on 5th. Couldn't tell who it was from the distance. Several laps pass and I make some ground. It's Bdub. Trying my hardest to catch him and get top 5 out of the mistake. He catches 2-4 battling each other. Which In turn allowed me to catch them all. Into the down hill 2-5 all going for it. Two people WRP and Hydrowent off. Leaving me in 4th and pretty close to 2 and 3. Come down into the chicane. Bdub and sagasmic yielding to each other slowed up enough I drove right on past on the outside going into last turn. Bdub I think it was had a good inside move going however the speed I could carry in outside was better on exit and I secured the 2nd spot. Complete Luck. Sorry for others misshaps being my happy moment. That's racing though.

It's the angle, can't really see it when I'm racing but if you move up or to the side everything looks funny.

@Owens, video of your battle for second is a couple post up. 👍


Think I got hit with the slow bug tonight, I was 8-10 seconds off my practice pace. Was only about 15 seconds away from being lapped and I never spun our crashed. Didn't matter though because it was in triple view!

Greating tonight, I got the no-grip bug, it seemed to fade off though, by race 2 I had full grip.
I should have some pictures of the race up later today.
Had a great time guys.
And Owens, mad comeback, best I have seen.
