You even went so far as to tell Kirokai that the reason they like the UCD "isn't a reason for liking the current UCD setup." You don't have to agree with anything in this thread, but you could at least have some respect for others' opinions about the UCD without trying to convince them they are wrong.

And Simon can disagree with anyone's opinions all he wants, but you don't see that he's taking it beyond mere disagreement. He's telling people their opinions are wrong and saying they don't have good reasons for liking the UCD -- that goes far beyond expressing his own opinion about the UCD. He's not allowing others have their own valid opinion, which is clearly disrespectful. Do you see the difference?

He is allowing them to have their opinion he is just stating he thinks they are wrong.

I still fail to see the issue.

Edit: just because you dont like the disagreements doesnt mean he is doing something wrong.

Which very well may be the case. An opinion isn't valid simply because it is expressed, especially when it might be founded on false pretenses (like defending something for being "realistic" when it is not). Pointing out those false pretenses doesn't make Simon in the wrong.

He's just saying he disagrees with their opinion. Where I come from we call that a discussion and nobody gets bent out of shape about it. If you want to express an opinion and never be challenged on it, then GTP will probably be a bit uncomfortable for anyone that feels that way.

I also think GT4's UCD had a better system.

I think a more realistic approach would be for the relatively newer cars (Premium or Standard) to be in an universal NCD, and the rest to be in the UCD, though this would present a series of other problems, such as having a mix of P and S cars in one dealership, which is troublesome for PD cause they'll have to figure out a way to show off their Premiums while at the same time hide the Standards.

Given the game only had Premium cars, and the game MUST have a UCD, then the new-cars-in-the-NCD-and-the-older-models-in-the-UCD system would be more realistic, and I also think it would be pretty cool, assuming they fix the cycling of the UCD as well.

My point is it takes forever to get cars. The game should be about having tons of cars and being able to spend most of your time driving them. Right now the game is about spending a good chuck of your time checking the online dealership and used car dealership. There needs to be a better and faster way to acquire vehicles.

I will give them credit for increasing the payout for Seasonals. This doesn't help those with no or bad connections though. With higher Seasonal payouts I have more money than I can spend because of the slow UCD with mostly higher mileage cars.

This is my problem I dont want to spend my time in menus hoping I get the car I want I prefer to spend more time racing.

Kaz's idea was to keep us trapped to our consoles. Which is good for a gamemaker. Giving us more money to spend - re all the free 'bones' he threw via Seasonals interfered with the game's initial idea of making a player spend more time making money and watching the UCD cycle.

Just as a matter of interest - I have played the game almost right through (35+) using only Version 1.00.
I have over 1300 cars including 2 '62 Specials, 4 Takada Dome NSXs, 2 Escudos, etc, etc . . . it can be done.

If you like it. There are of course many other games, if you don't.

Most Gran Turismo usual players play the game for years...not months. GT5 is an exception because of some flaws here and there, then some moved on. But I still play it after 2 years and there's people still playing GT2, GT4, GTPSP...

That's how Gran Turismo works. Again, it's a racing game, but at the same time it's not only that. It's related to car ownership experience... collecting, reading the description to know more about the car, having fun searching, etc. It's way more than just racing.

If it was only racing, then it would be boring. Like "some" of these PC sims get boring after some time. Lifeless IMHO.

But again, I can understand some of you that only want the racing aspect and don't want to wait. A good solution would be an "special collectors dealer" where you can buy any used car in the game for a bigger price, that's exactly how the Online Dealer works, but it would have the option to choose and buy EVERY car you want.

I agree the driving time lost is a pain, and the reason why I'm not in favour of the way the UCD works. The loading time is slow for pages you 'have to go to' to get into the UCD, then the silly graphics and to add insult to injury then you get a can of paint that you must acknowledge. If you could end a race and press one button to go straight to the UCD, another to buy a car and a third to go back to the race series you were in then the slow turn over of cars within the UCD would be much more acceptable.

Instead of making this type of non-sense features just put all cars in their respective dealership (used or not, I really liked how you could buy new cars and old cars -from same dealership/brand- and its respective parts for make upgrades in GT4)...then about the colours...it will be simple if they make something like this: http://colorschemedesigner.com/ and add a different tone/type to each colour that you can create (matte, polarized, chrome, etc) and pay for it like in most of games with credits.

To me this kind of stuff is a waste of time and resources. I don´t want to live in a game, I want to live my life and play a game and do what I want with it not just what the game wants me to do with it.

Same happens with the % by playing day by day...if you don´t you loose it...That crap made me play it every day and because of that I got bored and when I came back to play it again the regular rewards felt cheap and not that rewarding.

It seems that they want us to play this game for the eternity with this kind of non-sense features...like credit limits...so I got 20 million and spend it in one car...I am out of money...great...so start again to earn money...like in real life right? But is this real life? No...so why do something like this...LIMITS in a game. Like no.

I know this sounds like bitching but this was in my head for a long time and sorry to not stay full on topic but the UCD knowing that the cars are already in the game is a waste of time. And same with the other stuff mentioned here.

I quite like the UCD - It puts a moving spot light on a few cars - If all the cars were just - open you could race anything. But a bit of rarity makes it different...
And because a certain car may only be avaiable to buy for a short period when you do stump up to get it, it is a little bit more special to you...

As a Game thing it is a bit awkward... but if it is a Used car area... then you can't expect it to have every rare extreme car for you to buy when you feel like it.

The press button marathon is a chore...

The Credits system has been flipedp since Version 0.97 When it was alot of races to build up cash - to version 2.10 ... actually well before then when they just threw cash at you.
I'd quite like it if cars were hard to get... but you could "hire them" for a few miles at a high rate.

I sit between loving it and hating it, along with the paint chips. I find both are really cool systems if you enjoy collecting and seeing what comes up, but at the same time, Forza for example gives you access to everything as long as you can afford it and the chance to use paints infinitely, which has its own merits. Either way, both systems offer something worthwhile. Although waiting over a hundred in-game days for a Tank Car to reappear and over 300 for a lowly 120d sure is testing the patience...

I have helmets and race suits enough to kit out a large warehouse and horns aplenty. I changed one horn on a car to see the difference and have never touched them again. The prizes for Seasonals are total pants and I for one would rather not have them.

What dealership in the world is selling Bugattis and Lemans spec race cars and at the same time selling CIVCS. LOL. Very lazy and clunky feature of GT5.

I even made a thread on it once a long time ago about how stupid it was because ALL I WANTED at that time was a Supra RZ. That's all... just a Supra! Good god did it take forever to get it...

I think it took something like a week for it to show up and thats with UCD cycling for like 30 minutes to sometimes an hour a night (I was determined!). Then I found out that it caps at 700hp lol The really stupid thing is when I'm not looking for one, they show up all the friggin time!

This aspect is really nuts. GT4 system again shines, the historic models and racing cars were sold in special sections for them.
