Im beginning to really dislike the Chrysler Crossfire. I didnt really care for it when it was introduced and the fact that they built a convertable makes me dislike it even more. If the damn thing had any power i guess i wouldnt mind it too much, but from what i saw at the dealership, i was really disappointed. Rant over.

Oh, yea, i dont care for convertables. :p

The Crossfire's chassis was considered s**tty when it first came out in the original Merc SLK. Why do Chrysler Benz think that putting a horribly contrived body and unnecessarly oversized rims on it will suddanly make it a desirable vehicle to anyone other than Real Estate Agents and those peroxide haired/orange skinned ladies-who-lunch?

I was watching a review of the srt-6 and they basically said, " It handles like a sports car but alienates any one with sporting intentions by only offering an auto, and it costs about the same as a vette. The only people who would buy it are those who want it's looks, and most of those people would just buy the normal engine. So the SRt-6 is, well, useless."

I think the styling cues from the crossfire do look good on the ME-412 though.

Sweet list. But it needs more muscle cars from the 60s, and a couple 80s stangs and camaros.
same thing I was thinking after I posted, but I didn't wanna be a post whore.

American cars... just General Motors, Ford, and Dodge. Right? Just all compacts and pure muscle, right? Wrong. Ladies and gentlemen, I made a thread in the "Cars in General" forums called "Mosler: America's Most Underrated Sports Cars?" Moslers are pretty much American cars. The latest of them is the Mosler MT900 on the road, and the MT900R on the track. On the track? Oh yes, dear ones. The MT900R raced the 24 Hours of Daytona in 2002 I believe, then the MT900R raced in the JGTC's GT300 Class leading its first race at the 2002 or 2003 season finale at Suzuka. It's powered by a Corvette motor for what I hear. If you played the PC game "Sports Car GT," you may remember hearing about the Mosler Raptor. So surely, Mosler would be interesting to have in GT4.

Any more forgotten American cars you want to talk about?

The car wasnt forgotten, just nothing particularly special. Sorry man.

While we're on the subject of brands other than the big 3, lets bring to light the awesome company known as AMC (American Motors Company). What made them special? Well, the fact that the cars were made from left over parts from the big 3 is what made them special. Where else could you find a car w/ Chryster motor, GM intake, and a Ford starter? The only thing really unique about AMC were their body styles. The Javeline was a car on its own. Ive seen a pro-street javeline that nearly made my heart stop. And the Javeline wasnt even their best car.

Time for another round of "do you know?"

What was AMC's flagship muscle car? *yes, i know, this is easy!*

Martin Short brought his Mosler MT900R to Bathurst for the 24hr race in 2002 and 2003. They finished 2nd in 2002 and fifth in 2003. It was a very quick car and held the fastest lap in 2003 until the last 10 minutes of the race. Patrick Pearce did a great job in the car through the night in the wet. The car was handicapped for most of the race in 2002 with gearbox problems. Both years this car should have been closer to the leaders if it wasn't for the pay drivers they used for more funding. I think you're right John, the Mosler is an under-rated car.

Wow that mosler looks like a McLaren F1 clone, at first glance you could swear it was in fact. Are there any US car manufacturers who don't just act like tuners? By this I mean many US performance cars seem to mainly be tuned versions of current cars like Lingenfelters, Henneeeeeeeeessssssssssssey (Too many ss's and eeeeeee's) and now Mosler though you can see they've heavily worked on the shape. Look at europe and you have Spyker, Noble, Pagani, DeTomaso, Radical etc..

I'm not trying to put down just expand my knowledge of actual US manufacturers is all. :)

I think that has more to with the angle, I've seen the MT900' and they don't look much like a McLaren F1, but that pic is a bit deceiving. The MT900 is probably my fave American supercar. Mosler is not a tuner they vuild their own cars, before this they did the Raptor and they did one before that I'm sure. mosler may have done a few one off tuning jobs on carsI think they made a twin enginged Eldorado, but the MT900 is thier own car a was the Raptor.

moslers also had the stunningly awful looking Cousiluer, or some such spelling. it had a 240 horse 2.2 turbo from the dodge glhs.

other american cars: Shelby series 1, panoz esperante and roadster, Saleen S7...

For those of who who seen "Tuner Transformation" on the Speed Channel, TT daresay try to mod up a Ford Mustang. I know 98Cobra or even LethalChem would disapprove of this, but somehow someway... there are Mustang tuners. It's almost like myself seeing some at Hot Import Nights in Houston last year. Fear not, American car lovers. Actually, I thought it was a pretty cool mod job. So don't worry about giving it "make me fast [looking]" parts. Hell, this thing was modified to be more like the Cobra R off of Gran Turismo 3, only thing is that the muffler has one big catalyst. Sorry, I don't know my muffler terms. The car pushed 375hp at the wheels.

Some people may hate the Dodge Neon SRT-4, but I think it's a pretty cool car. A regular Neon can be pretty dull and somewhat dorky. But you take a look at this car, it is a performer. I wanted to make a thread about this months ago, but some people would kind of call it a mini muscle car, or a true American tuner car. If you get a decent-size budget in GT4, I'd want to invest in a SRT-4 Neon. It's kind of a shame that you couldn't get the Beetle RSi for MUCH LESS than 70,000 Cr. I'm going to speak from an American car lover-s point of view by asking "who'd want a 70K Cr Beetle?" Now when it comes down to American racing cars, let's not forget the racing cars. I respect the Mustang and all, but I'd want racing Mustangs, and I mean those that do left and right turns. Like I mentioned earlier, something like Kenny Brown's CSR Mustang is good enough. That Saleen SR Widebody is also good. I'd even take that Mustang Tim Allen and Steve Saleen raced and won SCCA titles together. I'll post links to pictures to talk about what the heck I'm referring to. All due respect to muscle cars as well as other American cars, but I'm more of a race car guy. Hell, I'd even make like Project Gotham Racing 2 and race around some city in an old-school Trans-Am in GT4!

By the way, I don't think the McLaren F1 is a sort of McLaren clone. I save that mark for the Saleen S7. The Mosler MT900R can kind of be thought of as a more exotic-looking Corvette. The cues are there, dude. Corvette power, Corvette-like taillights, but it's pure original from Mosler (website: http://www.constantvelocity.com). But McLaren clone? Not even close.

Ah yeah I looked at the racing pics and it looked like an F1 there but checking out the production model I can see it's not got much of a resemblance with an F1 but more of a sleek corvette, so I take that back. As for the S7 I've always seen that as just an F1 rip.

Thanks for pointing out Panoz cuda I forgot about them.

S7 an F1 clone? what are you guys smoking over there? Besides lots of power and a pointy (every supercars' gottem) nose what do they have in common? Plus the S7 is about 25% bigger than the tiny F1. Thats not a slight, just a fact, the F1 was a small car.

You can only really understand it if your from Houston.

Other American cars I would like to see are the Saleen SA-15, Saleen SR, Roush 440, Super Stallion, C6 Vette, Trans Am WS6 package.

I don't car if it's a wish list.

Here is an american car that would be awesome in GT4 and two yellow beast.

I'm sorry that my error in typing has caused me to be sarcastically attacked. What I meant to say was "I don't think the Mosler MT900 is a McLaren clone." Now stop making fun of my hometown. Just a human error.

I seen a nice, classic American car. What did I see earlier tonight? Find out in a later post!

That orange car is American? I'm stunned. Anyhow, at a James Coney Island restaurant across the street of Houston Community College Southeast, I seen a mean 1960s Chevrolet Chevelle. That car was CLEAN. It was red with white stripes. Nothing too fancy. No carbon fiber. It was a mean American classic car. Of course, I'm not bashing people into that sort of thing. I have no pictures. Remember, I'm not a show-and-tell person on GTPlanet. It doesn't hurt to use words instead of pictures all the time. So anyhow, it was a very nice car. And uh, thanks to James Coney for the Texas-Style Jalepeno Dog I ordered. That was a good dog. As I said, when I created this thread, the thread wasn't about just muscle cars. I know that not all American cars are muscle cars, so I opened this thread to talk about ALL cars from America. Whether it's a compact, a muscle car, a forgotten classic, or even supercars and exotics, if it's from America, it's American. So I'm glad to open this discussion to the general GTPlanet public here. I'll have to read up on that orange car in the pictures PhatFat provided. Plus, I'll try to learn more about Mosler cars. Until then, you may carry on.

Make this a Mosler reply from me to you. Anyhow, more information on two Moslers.

Mosler Raptor: http://www.supercars.net/cars/1993@$Mosler@$Raptorx.html
" MT900 Photon: http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/coupe/112_0306_spdmos/

Can you believe that the Mosler MT900 Photon has more than 400 horsepower weighing in less than 2,000 lbs? That's challenging the British, namely Lotus. I heard of this car being so fast that it's been outlawed from some series because it keeps winning. Kind of like I heard about the Skylines racing in Australia. You know, being just too impressive. With the stats on these two Moslers, especially the MT900 Photon, that's can't-miss for GT4, players! If you want an American car, get a Corvette. If you want a pure American sportscar to take on the world, your best bet may be with Mosler. Of course, you are free to search for your own stuff on these American cars, but I just wanted to talk more about Mosler. If you have any other rare American machinery, or pure sportscars we may have forgotten about, reply now about them. Remember, muscle cars are fine, but America is not all muscle cars.
