While looking online, here's another "Did You Know?" from me. DID YOU KNOW that the Vision K/2 supercar is built entirely in America? Don't believe me? Take a look at this b*tchin' exotic at this site: http://www.exotic-car.org/ . You can read up on specs about this car. Chances of this thing in GT4? Unlikely. Would you want it in? Who wouldn't?

The orange car is quite smart looking, then again that may be cause it reminds me of a diablo and a koenigsegg, it even has the engine cover of a diablo, when was that thing created? 2004 from the look of it by a google search, what better way to design than take design cues from the best !!

98cobra
What's the name of that orange car?
The SCC Aero 8 as answered above, SCC stands for Shelby Super Cars, although it has nothing to do with the Shelby that tunes Cobra's and Mustangs.

american cars huh! hmmmm well i love the 1969 427 corvette that was on GT2. i've heard of it being on GT4. so i am excited since it was not in GT3. its alos one of my many dream cars in real life.

Anyone wanna know why the Mosler MT900 looks sorta like a vette?
Well for starters it uses a Vette engine, and vette braking system, and several other parts from a Vette. SO as for Mosler doing it all them selves.... eh no.
And their cars have been banned from many Endurance races. Dunno why but hey it's true. And in those pics of the raicng verison yes it does look like an F1. As far as the S7 goes, it keeps up with the Enzo and the F1 so just shoosh up. Want proof? Look at 0-60 times and 1/4 mile run times, and top speeds. S7 has higher top speed than Enzo, and granted it's top speed is lower than a McLaren, I'm sure if Saleen wanted they could take the F1 by simply adding more power.

Thanks for yet another bit of Americana, folks.

I tihnk I've said this before, but if not, let me. We CANNOT boil cars down to horsepower and 1/4 mile speeds. We can't Americanize every car and racing in the world. We just can't. There's lots of traditions and such which makes cars rather unique than just performance. And if you ask me, the Mosler MT900 may have several cues and hints of Corvette, but to me, it's not a Corvette. I don't think GM told Mosler Automotive "hey, Mosler. Take this Corvette C5 and **** it up any way you like and give it a certain name." If you ask me, it's like a Corvette mated with sexy European superexotics. But like a college football standout, this car is an All-American, folks. And the Mosler can triple option its way to the endzone to score touchdowns on the track. In other words, it can deliver. Ay si, chicos y chicas. I actually like this car. Don't like European sportscars or athletic Japanese cars? You have American supercars to take out to the track and win. Whether it's the Saleen S7, Vision K/2, that SSC thingie, or whatever... Take out the competition with American supercars if you want to represent America. Oh, and one more note, I think the engine for the K/2 is from BMW, but I'm not sure.

For the NASCAR lovers, it would be pretty cool to have the Winged Warriors from the 1970s (?). You know, Superbird, Torino, and all them. More American cars, anyone?

Nice write up John. And yes I do remember the winged wonders. The competition was getting out of control back then. :sly:

It's all in fun

I think that since GT4 is suposed to be an attempt to capture the automotive history that the "55" Chevy should be included. The 55, 56 and 57 Chevy's certainly are some of the most poplar cars ever made. They are not my favorites, but I realize and understand their importance in American Automotive History.

Most popular cars ever made, I'm sorry but I don't think theres ever been any one model of Corvette ever come near to being in a most popular car ever poll, sure you could say that the Corvette ni general is one of the most popular cars, but break it down to each generation and it's not close.

:indiff: Nah was not talking about the corvette. Was talking about one of the most customized cars of all time. Just about any custom/hot rod car show has at least one. Would certainly be better then the Buick thats going to be included, but I am glad that the buick is in. If I was making a list of cars to be included in the game, I would look at number of real cars sold when they was produced and their poplarity thru out the years as just some of the selection criteria.

I don't do flames, I'm sorry. Kind of tacky to me. But of course, if you like that sort of thing, go for it.

I still wouldn't put that close to most popular car, since outside the states it's non-existent and unknown.

yeah he should have clarified.

A lot of americans buy cars however. The 55 chevy is also a weapon of choice for hot-rodders and drag racers.

i didn't read the whole thread, but did anyone say anything about the dodge omni GLHS, iroc r/t daytona, sprint r/t, chevy cosworht vega, and not american but also, volvos, and saabs.

Dodge Omni GLHS? As I stated, this is the car Speed Channel show "Sports Car Revolution" called "the world's first tuner car." It's also loved by SCR's resident loudmouth Kaz because it's colored black. This site has a lot of information about it, but in terms of many pictures, it does not: http://www.allpar.com/omni/omni.html

When I brought up supercars and compacts in this thread, it was to prove that American cars aren't all muscle cars and gas-guzzling SUVs. I'm sorry, you just don't neglect all of these machines. You know, America doesn't get to see DTM or JGTC action until when oval racing is done for (including NASCAR, but it's all the same). In much the same way, we are only exposed to American exotics when we look at something outside of the norm in America. This includes being outside of GM, Ford, and my favorite- DaimlerChrysler. Like for example, Ameritech came off an America-legal McLaren F1. But based on (http://www.emansworld.com/BMW/bmw.html?bmw_fr-specs.html), Ameritech basically made it US-legal. And it only comes as a one-seater. So, there are other American cars to be mentioned. You'll be thankful to have the Ford Model T.

Here's a "fun McLaren fact." After their Le Mans debut and win in 1995, the McLaren F1 LM had an engine which pumped out 780hp from its normal 625hp with torque of 520hp from its normal 500hp. (Source: http://www.emansworld.com/BMW/bmw.html?bmw_fr-specs.html)
