The cars we are using are straight off of the showroom floor. All besides the RUF.

Thats one of the reasons i signed up for this series, i love production car racing. Because ive never really driven a real race car before i can relate to the experience of driving a normal one. The M3 does have a slight disadvantage with tight tracks and tire wear, but a big advantage on fast tracks. They were a second faster than everyone at Monza and should have won that track.

I'll have to properly test this out, but I did realise it took corners much nuicer than the Premium M3... It does look nice too, mind you that M3 (E46?) model was stunning anyway.

Kev, the main thing about the M3 is the tyre wear. I've got the handling tuned well, and my personal best time on Laguna was a 1:23.292, WITH a mistake that wiped 0.2 of a second out of my initial gain on Mel's 1:23.293. Thing is, the tyres just fade. I was able to run nine laps, but even then, 9 laps on a 2.24 miles circuit? Even FH's advice of putting the initial torque on the LSD higher, AND lowering the camber, AND lowering the overall brake balance didn't work.

Well i cant speak for the BMW because i havent tested with it much, maybe ill run with it during the Spa race though. But when i was testing the Aston (basically same weight) i could run seriously fast laps but tires would fade too quickly. So i was forced to put the spring rate low, im talking single digit low. I think i was running 8.0/8.3 when i was done with it and my tire wear was right on par with everyone else. I also softened the roll bars and dampers, the car wasnt as responsive but it was good enough and i could stay out longer. I could have tightened the vette up by a good bit more and probably matched Blaze's time but i always dial it back for tire wear.

People, I've just been reading all the posts about the race, and I'm sorry for posting this only now (I already was fast asleep by the time the argument started).

[to gtamann123] GT class qualifying order:

Blaze, Kevin, Yeratel, Storm, MrMelancholy, Marfy, FH, Cowboy, TG2, gatrs, Sin.
(I might have swapped the RUFs, but I'm pretty sure about everyone in front of Cowboy)

That being said, I don't know how this will be handled by the stewards, but from my point of view, both Cowboy and MrMel were wrong, the former obviously for starting way ahead of his position, and the latter for entering in a fight for starting position and taking advantage of that after said start.

As for you MrMelancholy15, what you should have done was mantain your position, and protest the incident after the race, as by "getting your position back" from Cowboy, you also started out of your position.

Pretty much this. Was still good reading though. 👍

To Seth, for saying that the M3 is "a front heavy boat," I'd like to add that it has a better weight distribution (50/50) than any and every other car in the game...

To Yera, I'm done with the argument. I defended my spot, Storm couldn't see what was going on, and you weren't perfect either.

...

Consistent laps, no crashes, no off the tracks, and no pit lane speeding penalties = wins!! Monaco i had a perfect race and I won.

The Ford is also 50/50 :p

I noticed you should try to shed as much weight as possible, even if its under 1300KG, you should go for more, because the lowest you can go is 1100KG (I don't any car here can get that low) but then you can then add more weight for the more you lose, then you can move that weight around to your liking, and can get 50/50 becuase you'll get better distribution. 👍

The most weight I can take out is until 1342 kg. Not an option for the PREMIUM (everyone likes capitalizing that...?) M3. I know the M3 CSL goes pretty lightweight, (1186?)

Prego Gatrs says it has a handling advantage.

Maybe the Premium 135i? It is faster than some GTs fully tuned, so it would be limited, and can go to 1300KG.

Hmmmm, something nice REALLY did come out of yesterday, I guess... a BMW that handles well!

The premium M3 may have 50/50 weight distribution, but it still drives like a front heavy boat. All the weight it has there is no answer for. I seriously think the M3GTR is a good car to use in it's place. No matter how many were made. The reason they made it is because of the layout of the gearbox and other technical details the M3GT2 model had that weren't on the regular street car.

In retrospect of what happened, i think we (as a group) should implement a parade lap rule and rolling start formation. I didnt realize Cow was so far out of position and i jumped the gun on Mel being the only bad guy. Mistakes were made by both drivers, so lets make sure this doesnt happen again.

Here are my ideas

Formation Lap: It shouldnt be hard to simply follow the car in front of you, but people have got to stop pressing the start button and chatting during it. I got tangled up with a few drivers because we're rolling along, then all of a sudden one person wants to chat, the car goes to 30mph and everyone gets brake checked and collisions happen. If you dont see another driver on the track, chatting away isnt going to make you see them... keep the formation moving.

Rolling Start: When approaching the start/finish line we should already be in the correct order and if we werent chatting then we should all be tightly grouped. Everyone stays a full bumper behind the car in front, if you want to take a staggered position you can but you cant be past the car in front in any way.

I say yes to single file, because we're so jumbled that qualy barely matters when we go green, we've been like 3-Wide starts this season, and everyone always brakes before the line, why?

60MPH pace, if you stop before the line, we have a right to go by if you don't speed up?

No the 1186 is one of the Corvettes. M3 CSL goes down to 1150. MY GOD, MAKING A BMW M3 for 1000km Suzuka NAAAOWWW!!!! I kid, I kid.

Laguna had to be my worst race yet I made it to a nice mid pack spot early in after the pace lap then at lap 3 the lag bomb exploded. In my view everyone on the track was poping around like popcorn I couldnt tell where I was safe got banged around by cars that werent even close to me on my screen then after being hit they would warp ahead to th next corner with a huge trail of smoke following this stoped after 3 or 4 laps but it was clear I was done for the race.

Then after about 40somthing laps in I got disconnected from the lobby. My first disconnect ever in a gtp race. I know my connection sucks but this is the only series I ever get this much lag in. I really wish pd would give us dedicated servers this dysnc crap is really starting to ruin gt5 for me. What sucks even more is I didnt lose my net connetion I just got droped from the lobby.

SIN, OH MY GOD I'M SO GLAD YOUR ON! Dude, were you caught in some kind of massive crash with thin air like I was, I just remember both of us being blown off the track by seemingly nothing, just after you first pitted.

Yep came out of my first pit and got slammed off the road hard. By who or what idk but its clear pd never fixed tthe dsync issues they just put a bandaid on and hoped noone would notice.

Storm? You can't really connect to anything, guys, can you? Narg... Kakarot's got a point. +1 Sinladar, this lagging stuff bugs me.

You'd think at NAT Type 2 and High bandwidth I'd be able to connect to everything. Apparently not.

Thanks for the positions, Yera.

For me, I'd rather put this event behind us. But since the OP states punishment for Qualifying alterations, I'll think about the infractions.

Good idea, Kevin. I'll might get that implemented into the OP.

Tower Turn 13
How about this rule: No chatting during qualifying or race, period. Except of course who ever is steward telling what to do.

That would be good.
If you want to chat, keep it in the thread.

gatrs, do you guys still do the rfactor series? I have a feeling GT5 is gonna push me into being a PC racer before too long.
