63AvantiR3, love to have you onboard ... it's a relaxed series with a wide spread of talent ... it's here just for the fun and to learn something about controlling these beasts ... so please don't feel intimidated or anything :)

In other news, I doubt I'll run the WRS this week, Tsukuba doesn't float my boat and a 3 lapper especially doesn't, so I'm going to concentrate on my GT4 game and the AMC.

Really learning how to handle this beloved little Z28 of mine and falling in love with it fast. I just took the right-left-left after T1 in true drifting style, literally sliding sideways across the tracks and into the long straight like 1,500lbs of poetry. Damn, so much fun.

New splits:
T1: 21.579
T2:1'09.275

Happy with how this is going, but lots to do yet.

I think I just found a trick to getting much faster times. NEVER look at the clock. I knew there was a 1'08 in this car but with such a low 1'08.xx I'm certain I can budge a 1'07.xxx out of it. Camaro folks if you need any tips on a setup pm me I'll tell you what I know.

The T1 checkpoint on New York is probably the worst one in the entire game. Absolutely useless when you are racing!

Whats up gang :D ! I was finally able to get back in the drivers seat tonight 👍 👍 . Looks like I still have some work to do to catch the leaders, but I don't think I left 3 seconds on the track :scared: . I hope to drop .5 maybe a full second but that would require some luck.

T1 21.122

T2 1'08.093

Koly its good to see that the two dead hookers are paying off! 👍 👍 I've got two dead hookers and their pimp.

Child hookers? I thought we were in Seattle and not Singapore.

I'd say "Hooker Headers" (a Holley division) maybe, but to put the adjective 'dead' in front of them would only mean they have rusted beyond all purposeful use. Rusted such that even Redneck Bubba wouldn't put them on his car.

It's hard to come up with "pimp" in terms of headers. Maybe cylinder heads are a header's "pimp" *scratches head*? Headers also don't weigh much, so you'd have to have quite a few, molded in cast iron, to be of much help for ballast's sake 👍.

:banghead: Argh this is flustering. I wish the game developers had gotten more of the game correct. Wouldn't it be nice if we could pay a small amount of credits, maybe 1200 per gearset?, to change only the pumpkin (ring & pinion) gears? Having to get into the transmission to change the diff. gears comes from what many cars are today, front engine, front-wheel drive economical boxes. To change an Integra's or Golf's final drive ratio I'm sure it would make just as much sense to change the whole transaxle. But the vast majority of FR cars have a differential completely apart from the engine.

I'd kill to simply change the stock 3.70:1 ratio gears to: 3.50, 3.42, 3.36, 3.08, etc. I'll gladly take the stock M21 ratios of 2.20, 1.64, 1.28, 1.00 ... I just want a scooch more on the top end 🤬 You Camaro drivers who didn't opt for the 10,000 credit transmission are hurting with those 3.89:1 gears.

"I'd rather build power to overcome three oh eights, than be gear-limited to four tens."

Why is the 10,000 Cr. full-racing transmission the only way to adjust the final drive? It's possible for me right now to buy a $3000 Tremec T-56 (same as Viper, ZO6, SVT Cobra, etc.) from a store online and install it in my Vette sitting in the driveway. Richmond makes ring & pinion sets ranging from the mundane 3.08:1 to a track only 6.50:1 for a few hundred. *The game's accuracy and pricing are way out of whack.

I volunteer to give P.D. my automotive insight for GT6... 7... 8... as long as they get things right.

Now now... ballast weight only goes up to 200 :)

Seriously though, you have valid points.

All this talk of hookers is making me awfully tired....

But anyway, here are some times. Much more competitive then last week.

T1 - 20.618
T2 - 1'07.399

Is it just my car, does is everybody getting a scary amount of air down those jumps? It feels like I'm floating, then it lands like it's on an air bag.

Maybe I got the special Citroen Modified Hydropneumatic Dodge Charger Super Bee 426 Hemi '71? (Now that's a mouthful....)

Those jumps are just so much damn fun .... I especially like landing at the bottom, slinging my heavy ass around the slight right, and if I hit it right sliding around the next corner at full pelt ... fast? Nope sireee, but damned fun.

I've looked for the "dead hookers" mod but can't find it anywhere? I still have $400 so I should be able to get a couple for that? Seriously what I need in the form of ballast is Mario Andretti (or maybe Jackie Stewart...I like his accent better) in the passenger seat to talk me around this thing. I'm learnin' but the curve is steep. I've probably got about 70% of the curves figured out and probably SHOULD be able to find about 1 to 2 seconds out there. Hopefully.

Yep, that it does ... but it's 200kg which is damn close to 441 pounds. I think I could kill a few people to equate 440 pounds. Though sadly as it is, not speaking for present company I'm sure, Americans are getting quite hefty.

I love Seattle personally, I know the streets well, since I use to walk down that one we are flying down toward the Ferry Landings.

Good point. Remind me to have my dead hookers shipped from canada ^_^

Kolyana: I would like to enter with CA license number 2YG....whoops, I mean the digital version LeMans Blue 1969 Chevrolet Corvette.

Also, my brother is not a member of GTP, but could be pretty easily. He saw me tweaking and tuning the Corvette and wanted help in building a 'Cuda. I helped him do it to specification and now we're here burning the early morning oil and he has turned a 20.216 through sector 1 and a 1:05.949 through sector 2. He's keeping the ghost lap replays in case he may enter as well.

Bring him on board too man, its killer fun! And with those splits he's got a good shot at making the podium too!

I'd kill for the extra 5th gear the transmission gives you, but I didn't decide to not buy it because of extra horsepower. I sank most of my money into the suspension. It's been doing pretty well so far in Seattle. The Camaros are definately far from the fastest muscle cars in this league, but they tend to outhandle most of the othes so I'm pleased with it.

AWESOME splits!!! Both of you please PM me details of your chosen cars and upgrades and feel free to post your splits in this thread. If you want to post on his behalf, I have no problems with that (or he use your account), as long as it's made clear in the post who's doing the talking :p

Welcome aboard!!!

Physics, I bought a sports suspension and ... um ... don't really know what to do with it. Any recommendations for the Seattle Track?

Hi all, hope i'm not gate crashing. 👍
I was interested in some of the "handling" issues going on in this thread. I race a 1985 Alfa Romeo GTV6 3.0L in RL here in South Africa and can possibly give a few pointers in setting your camber and toe angles if you're keen.

I know my RL car does'nt push out nearly as many ponies as your rides are, but i'm sure there are a few things below that could possibly help. 💡

I would start with the camber, perhaps start with -3.0 on rear and -2.5 on front, this may induce some understeer, but with tail happy cars, this may not be a bad idea. If you are uncomfortable with that setup, opt for more camber on the front than on the rear, perhaps -2.5 on the rear and -3.0 on the front.

Once you are comfortable with the behaviour of the car, adjust these settings 0.2 degrees at a time, mainly on the front, but I wouldn't overdo it. If you feel that you happy, move to the next point below.

Secondly, adjust the toe angle of the rear wheels.

If you want "oversteer", I would recommend that you should adjust your rear wheels to "toe-out" \―――/ (bad sketch of rear axle I Know :D), this setup will help make the rear want to turn in while cornering. Remember not to overdo it as these settings will affect top speed, as the tyres will be scrubbing because they are not straight.
On the other hand, to induce "understeer", you want your rear wheels to point outwards ("toe-in") /―――\ (bad sketch again, sorry :D), also sacrificing on top speed, for obvious reasons.

So to sum up: Do you want the car to understeer or oversteer and to what degree? Start with the basic settings given, adjust camber first until you are happy with the feel of the car, then slowly start adjusting the toe-angle in small increments to suit your driving style.

I hope this (although basic, and missing certain other factors like caster, tyre temps and pressures) makes sense to you all and helps you in going quicker, sorry if I rambled on a bit. 👍

Best of luck! 👍

Okay I'm 63AvantiR3's brother I have chosen the big 440 6-Pack Mopar Cuda. I've like he said set some pretty quick split times don't know how competitive I will be but its all in good fun right? The first segment is a 20.216 and the second is only a 1:05.949. I hope to get to know everyone more as the season goes on. I was only planning on goofing off but my brother talked me into joining up here. I guess I will go attempt to improve my times now that its not 5am.

@GeeTeye, thanks for the pointers ... I'm going to try these out tonight.

@92CorradoSLC, welcome aboard!!! I'm going to add you to the official driver list and the unofficial leaderboard tonight ... don't forget to PM me your final time before midday on Sunday (PST).

---

Edit: Leaderboard Updated ... looks like the Cuda's may give the C3's something to worry about at Seattle ;)

You entered 92CorradoSLC's T2 time wrong.

By the way, welcome 92CorradoSLC!

So I did, thanks for the tip off kenny ... that puts him right in amongst the 'Vettes.

I still need to knock off an entire second to get a podium, lol

I still need to fix my PS2 before I can even compete again.

I took it apart futher yesterday thanks to a TechDeck screwdriver (you know, the mini-skateboards from way back when?) and found out that really, nothing's wrong. Everything LOOKS like it should work right, but when I put the disc cover on, it doesn't. Everything ought to match perfectly and work in unison, yet this is not the case! It's a very frustrating situation for me.... I KNOW I fixed it and yet it rebels.

Good luck to those who are and can compete. I'm gonna come back with a vengeance! ...So I hope. lol

geeTeye do you have any suggestions for changing ride height and spring rate?

As far as ride height is concerned, I'd go about 20mm up from the lowest setting, just so you have enough stability, yet you don't bottom out over the tracks. Maybe even 25, if that isn't enough. The last thing you want to do is biff the first split after a great run and 26 seconds into a lap... I hate that, and it isn't hard in my barge...

Hi dude,

I'm not near the PS2 at the moment As a guidline, whatever figure you have in front, start with ± 50% of that value on the rear. Slowly start to stiffen the rear up until you feel comfortable with it. Remember, stiffer shock absorbers make the car more responsive and can help produce faster straight-away speeds. There is a downside to this, as always, stiffer shocks can make the car handling very touchy and result in you over-correcting in the corners. The softer the shocks are, the more forgiving the handling of the car is and the less likely the tendency to over-correct will be.

Hope this helps. 👍

Later 👍

Although this may be true in real life, there have been threads that have debated whether or not springs in GT4 are true to real life, so it's trial and error really.
