Anger management

My heartbeat never rises when I play GT series, even in Vettel challenges - I know they're ridiculously hard, so there's no reason to get angry.

PES/FIFA on the other hand... well, that's a different story. But I never smash things, swearing is usually enough.

I once cried when I couldn't complete the rally school in original Colin McRae Rally. It was such a long time ago though, I was maybe 12.

I think a lot of race rage will go away once I have a proper wheel/pedals (Fanatec most likely) since much of my frustration comes from the DF GT. Cars that understeer will still be a problem though, that wears out my fuse quite quickly. And having your race spoiled by the AI parking, OMG I wish they would fix that. That turns me into Samir at the beginning of Office Space...

When I get a pro wheel I plan to build a padded dash or something that I can pound a fist on harmlessly if I get a little annoyed.

It's funny though, part of me sees the value in practicing pulling yourself back from the brink of full-on rage... which builds control when you're at your limit. But the other part of me sees the value in, you know, actually controlling your temper so you don't get that angry in the first place. It's a fine line between blowing off steam (instead of keeping it balled up like a knot), and habitually flying off the handle because it's become a trained response.

the only thing i smash is my subaru in a hot lap on nürburgring nordschleife...
luv it!

I threw my controller yesterday, it's fine as long as you don't throw it to hard or at a hard object. It is good to let your anger out. Just do it in non-destructive ways, or destroy worthless items. I go into the woods and smash logs.

@Inviso.

I've broken a single GCN controller by accidentlaly dropping it, and the stick shattered.
Otherwise, the worst you'll see/hear me do is use my extensive knowledge of swearwords, usually with a mic.

I would just growl a bit in frustration if I screwed up consistently. the furthest I have ever gone was letting a curse word (or two) slip on the microphone after I got rammed into the barrier in an online race.

I have never broken anything while playing GT5. The most I did (Due to many people in X1s bothering me in multiple different lobbies) was toss my controller onto my couch and then kick a pillow around for a bit. After the first kick or two I wasn't angry anymore but I just continued to mess with my dog.

CoD on the other hand..... Yeah I've broken a controller. Thanks to people being complete arse-clowns (corner camping with the FAMAS gets me very angry).

Let's see.. I'm mature. I can keep my cool. Usually.

I lost it once when it froze after I finished then 24 hours of Le Mans in A-Spec.. But all I did was basically kick my PlayStation to try and get the game to work (unfortunately, this was unsuccessful)

Then, in a license rest, I was going for all gold. I missed gold by .001.. Three times. So I went in my room and screamed into a pillow for a few minutes. But that was about it.

Oh, there's been times when I've wanted to throw the disc into my fireplace. But I've been able to restrain myself since I'm a human with a working brain.

I once threw my hairbrush, which was already broken. My hair had caused the handle to snap xD. That was thrown after trying to gold the TG Test Track Lotus Challenge. Went downstairs, had a drink, came back up, Gold first try.

Interestingly, I never raged once when I went to Gold all licenses August this year. I got a tad miffed at the wet stopping challenge, then did the exploit where you hit the wall, gold first try, and I quite literally "rofl'd". That was the last one. A friend of mine did the same a week or two later, and I was on Skype with him for most of it, giving him pointers. Any license involving a Nissan was his cryptonite. Mild humour arose for me from those tests.

Destroying things because of frustration in a video game is just, well... stupid.

Inventing new swearwords, however, is another matter entirely...

 :trouble: 💡 I think I'll start keeping a scream pillow next to my game rig.

This reminded me of a great joke about a priest who goes to a neighbor's house to borrow a lawnmower. Little Johnny answers the door and then leads the priest back to the shed and tells him, "here's the lawnmower, but you might have a little trouble starting it." The priest pulls the cord several times, but it won't start. "It helps if you kick it," Little Johnny says. The priest kicks it, pulls the cord, kicks it, pulls the cord, it still won't start. "It helps to swear at it," Little Johnny says. "But son," says the priest, "I am a man of God, I have not used profanity in many years." Little Johnny replies, "keep pulling on that cord, sir. It will come back to you."

 This should be posted in the jokes thread if not already.

I don't get it! Somebody please explain? :)

Put my knee through a wall after a Chaparral 2J AI spun me right before the finish on the American Championship on Indy. I think I was going a bit crazy then.

Edit:
Also threw the controller at an office chair while playing NFSU purposely (and broke the R1, although I still use the controller) back when the PS3 was new (I have a reverse compatible...yay!!) I was a youngin though. :p

It's hard not to get frustrated with gt5, well I say gt5 I mean the useless ***** who can't overtake you, so they resort to just using your rear to slow themselves down, where are the clean drivers?

I just swear a lot. Resorting to physical violence just seems far too extreme for getting frustrated by a videogame, of all things.

I cried in Driver 2, the part where you had to swap disks. I couldn't figure out how to do it; I would turn off the PS1 and insert Disc 2 and when I booted up the game nothing would be right. It took me a while to figure it out :dunce:

I take prescription painkillers and I smoke , if I loose my tempter I chomp a few pills and smoke my anger away.

Ive seen a guy in the biggest idiot thread who threw his Ps3 out the window cuz he grabbed a beetle instead of the FGT for a le mans race, clicked through the menu, started it , went to bed, woke up, saw what happened and out went the PS3

After a few hundred attempts at starting the thing with no results, his frustration level would rise a tad, most likely resulting in him remembering (or inventing) a swearword or 2... ;)

GT5 is my way of drifting and racing without getting in trouble for racing in real life again. So i tend to not rage quit on GT5 but i have broken 2 DFGTs (not in anger speed wobbles after someone who can't control their car hit me)

But on BF3 the words that fly out of my mouth would make a priest probably try to perform a exercism. But usually that is when I am getting camped by people that are using guided i can't aim shells. But i don't stay mad forever.

I've had quite a few rage moments, but they've only lasted for a quick moment.

I was practicing at a Toscana track in my AE86. My ghost kept pulling further and further away from me. Just as I had found the flaws in my previous lap, my brakes locked up and spun me out, just as I was about to pass my ghost. I gripped the handle of my DS3 and continued driving, removing all my emotions... I beat the lap time right after.
