It´s pedal plate is neither large or sturdy enough for them.

That's what I think. That's why I'm glad the G25 pedal adapter works! I think the CSPs are more suitable for playing flat on the floor, or for mounting in a (stronger) home-made cockpit.

You may not want to hear this but I would forget all idea of mounting the CSP pedals on the Evo. It´s pedal plate is neither large or sturdy enough for them. Since you get the Turbo S maybe you can grab some cheap G25 pedals somewhere if you don´t want to change cockpit? Evos pedal plate is designed for these and I find them better then the stock fanatec pedals too.

You can nixim mod the brake though the Evolution again is really not stable enough for that it flexes quite a bit.

I attached my Playseat Evo to a large sheet of plywood. Actually, a base I made from plywood w/ bricks in between to raise it up off the floor a bit. I'm going to remove the Evo pedal plate and just replace it with some T-slot aluminum rails (80/20.net) and another small (16"x16") MDF sheet resting on top of them. This will span the playseat center rail and be attached to my plywood base. The T-slot aluminum will allow adjustment fore/aft, but one could probably also just affix a wood sheet or structure directly to the two bolt holes the Evo pedal plate comes attached to. I just have 80/20 T-slot around from another project but it could be done without. I'll try to take some pics when I'm done (hopefully later this weekend)

Finally got my wheel today. Unfortunately with no directions, struggling to use it. I figured out the problem. testing it now.

Interesting. The way I would do it was to replace it with some plywood that lies flat to the ground. Then there is nothing that can budge... However if you run the stiffer brake with shorter travel you will still get the chair and the bottom bar budging. Unless you replace also that with something more robust. But for the standard setup it should probably work quite well I would assume. Doesn´t have much more resistance then the G25 brake from what I recall :)

I would like to know how anyone has gone about attaching the H-shifter to the Playseat G25 shifter holder? The attachment to the wheel unit itself is, of course, pretty useless...

Do you like the shifter placement on the Evo? I couldn´t use my G25 shifter on it I had to mount on a separate table since it was way to low and to far back. I would make a wooden table or something. Then you do like the simracingtonight guys mounted theirs. I don´t remember exact which of the later episode they showned it but it´s quite simple to achieve :)

The shifter placement on the Evo is fine. It just takes a little while to get used to. I went from having the (G25) shifter on the table next to the wheel to having it on the Playseat - felt very odd at first. Now when I go back to having it next to the wheel it feels strange. It's just what you're used to ...

I keep seeing them use this wheel on Inside Sim Racing

DAMN YOU INSIDE SIM RACING. :*(

I would honestly say, that if you already have a G25, that you're happy with, I would stick with it. If you don't have a wheel at all, or are upgrading from a DFP, I would definitely consider getting a Fanatec. Hope that helps! ;)

I got the wheel, it was working fine until it got errors. I was playing Forza 3 at the time. Is there a way to update the firmware or anything? Thanks.

EDIT: My Fanatec was working fine until it shows a led display a.a.a.

All control in Forza Motorsport 3 are gone when I used the wheel. What should I do?

I would suggest you contact our support instead of posting it to a forum. I am sure we can help you quickly. Some of the very first wheels have been reworked and the workers forgot to add glue to the main cable again which can result in a lose connection. We can tell you how to fix it (fast solution) or tell you how to get a replacement (convenient solution).

I have some pictures in this thread that show how I attached mine to the playseat g25 shifter adapter. https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=121039

So, if I understand correctly, there are a couple of threaded holes on the underside of the shifter adapter that you use to screw the shifter adapter to the Playseat shifter holder?

It still seems like a bit of an awkward set-up, because of the way the Fanatec shifter is cantilevered out from the Playseat shifter holder. It would be better if the shifter sat right on top of the Playeast shifter holder IMO, especially given that the shifter holder isn't that strong to begin with. Can I ask you, is the connection between the shifter & the black rods very firm at least?

I notice that the SRT guys appear to have screwed the Fanatec shifter directly to a plate without using the Fantec shifter adapter. I might try that solution.

All-in-all, the Fanatec wheels/pedals/shifters (especially the CSPs) do not work as seamlessly with the Playseat Evo as the G25.

Here is what I did w/ my Playseat Evo shifter holder and the Fanatec. I just used two zip ties (three actually, you can see I extended one black one with a shorter clear one to get it long enough to span across the body of the shifter, through the holes in the holder and as tight as I could pull it to lock in.) It's solid as a rock. PIC HERE

The shifter is fairly firm when used like I have. The very small amount that it moves is unnoticeable while you are shifting. If you really watch closely you can see it move forward slightly, but not so much that you notice it while using it.
The best part about using the fanatec shifter adapter is how easy it is to change between shifters. If the the money that the fanatec shifter adapter costs isn't a problem I would suggest it, just because if you zip tie, or screw the shifter straight to the G25 playseat adapter it will be a pain to switch back and forth between shifters.

Well, I might try Mikemav's solution first (I think Nox did something similar) + I could add some velcro to the bottom I guess.

I can't really see wanting to use the sequential shifter anyway. Honestly, I think the G25 is a much better bet for F1 racing, but dismantling everything to set-up the G25 is a real pain ...

911 turbo felt much better with formula cars then my G25. One is the strong, smooth force feedback but the thicker grip also feels more F1 then stock car :)

G25 was more rally for me. Especially before the drift mode was incorporated on the Fanatec wheels since the G25 had virtually no resistance at all so it was easy to mess around with

Yeah I want a wheel that looks like this, or this!

The paddle-shifters on the G25 just work much better.

I contacted support like you said, but I never got a reply back. Please let me know if I get a reply back from you guys ASAP. I really need to use the wheel on the 360 to play Forza Motorsport 3 or Project Gotham Racing 3.

Just wanted at ask this: in order to hard mount the Fanatec shifter a longer cable is required. I know this cable is available from Fanatec, is it possible to buy it from a bricks & mortar store?

I believe it's a standard PS2 (keyboard/mouse) cable....

Sure would like my $50 coupon right about now. The Clubsport Wheel Mount would be a nice addition to my setup.

;)

Blast...

A few shifter adapters then...

;)

I'm thinking about ordering a Turbo S wheel but can I ask what the shift adapters are? I assume they're to make the standard paddle shifters bigger?
Can't see any pics on the Fanatec website of them either!

Cheers

Nick

The shifter adapters are for mounting the shifters (sequential and gated sticks, not paddle) away from the wheel itself.

There used to be larger paddle shifters, but their design proved to be detrimental to the overall use of the wheel, so they were scrapped.

I personally have found the current smaller ones to be perfect, though I admittedly will hardly ever use them.
