Thanks Delphic

Firmware for the Turbo S

Stated on Fanatecs site:
"BONUS: All PWTS UE customers get access to a special firmware which can be uploaded to the wheel with a Windows PC. This firmware features several new functions for the TUNING Display

* Adjustable Steering Axis Linearity

* Adjustable Steering Axis Sensitivity in 10° steps

* Adjustable Deadzone: Good for games like GT5: Prologue to avoid shaking on straights

* Adjustable FF and Vibration in 10% steps

Please note that this firmware is not needed to operate the wheel and is still in BETA status. The successful upgrade of the firmware cannot be guaranteed. Please carefully follow the instructions. "

And a lot of comments (911wheels) reported problems after installing.

So should i wait till they have a proper fix out for Win7X64?

How long can the screws to hard mount the wheel be?

What is the firmware the wheel came with ?
Do i gain a lot from updating ? Or can it pose more problems since it still in beta status (i didn't get shaking on straits in Gt5P)?
And if i would upgrade, will it work with win7 x64 or must it be Xp 32 bit?

Sorry I can only answer a few questions :)

I am using M6X20mm bolts, this is what I have Here

Your wheel will have the latest firmware installed which is version 669, I have had my wheel for 2 months and it came with the latest FW. You can check the FW on your wheel.

1. Power on the wheel into Standby mode.
2. Press and hold LD1 + LD2 + RD1 + RD2.
3. Hopefuly you should see the numbers 669 on the dash.

I have noticed at this point that the fans turn on at full speed whilst holding these 4 buttons down, Thomas ?

EDIT:- It looks as though the Fanatec Website is out of date, the 669 Firmware (special firmware) is not beta as it is shipped with all Turbo S Wheels.

hi, i just got my turbo s ultimate edition 2 days ago and i just checked its firmware version and it says 660 not 669. I take it this is why GT5 Prologue is shaking on the straights?

Wheel is great but part of my LED display has stopped lighting up so I'm going to have to contact customer support to see if it can be fixed.

Rudi, if there is an option to, I would update the firmware if I were you.

Shaking on a straight line might be that a slow car is getting up to high speeds, ever taken an old A to B car past 100 MPH?

I have the regular 911 Turbo S and having this problem:

When I turn the on button it begins to calibrate (as usual) but it stops before it goes back to the center. It stays pulling to the left and my PC doesn't recognize it as connected.

I HAVE however updated the firmware by starting it in the bootloader mode and it was recognized by my PC then, but it can't be used for racing then.

Any solutions? I've contacted customer support but I don't think they will be responding soon since apparently my e-mail format doesn't hold up to their standards. (I included all they wanted except a small video).

Cheers for the advise, I think the shaking is definately the deadzone issue as the shaking is uncontrollable and dosen't happen on forza 3/r factor.

I think I'll hold off updating the firmware until I get my LED display issue worked out with fanatec.

Also reading *ibo* S3 Racer's post, I wonder why my wheel didn't arrive with the 669 firmware installed since I only received it this week?

The reason why there is shaking because of the deadzone, the 669 firmware will also have deadzone with GT5P unless you change the deadzone settings on the wheel.

I would guess that the support team will ask you to update the firmware to see if it fixes the LED display.

Out of interest what part of the LED display is missing ?

Thanks for all the answers.
Will check my firmware state.

But i believe i have the same than Rudi, because i don't have the the deadzone options.

In gt5P i only did 5 laps on susuka with the 350Z and didn't notice the shacking
Will check with more powerful cars (but i have my FFB in the Gt5p menu very low)

I will change someting on my seat this afternoon and then i check out.

When I first turned on the wheel, the led behind the 'S' on the tuning options was alot dimmer than the right side of the display and then it just went out. Basically now when you go to the ABS option it actually looks like it says 'HBS' or sometimes even 'nBS'. I think its just an LED has stopped working but when you spend >£300 on a wheel you kinda want everything working properly, other than that the wheel is great :)

Hi, good guess, it will show you in this Video:-

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=54iQktxDQOM&feature=related

For me lots of free play in brake, std set up, moved up a peg hole. Beware then near enough zilt free play(prefer it thou), also brake adjuster knob as to be set to max one way. Be able to tweak better with tuning kit, you prob can do it without ie cut a bit off foam or metal rod ? but i'll wait for kit.

Cheers BOB

Should i replace my G25 with a GT3 RS wheel, Want to keep my G25 pedals though, but the GT3 wheel seems to be a lot better. Any advice?

The GT3RS V2 now comes with a free adapter cable to connect your G25/G27 pedals.

Okey, on second thought I think want the full Fanatec set, with wheel and pedals. If I order it today, when will i receive it? I live in Norway, and how much would shipping cost?

Good choice Thomas, the CSP are marvelous, worth every penny

For the firmware update:
Should i upgrade via a netbook XP 32bit
or a desktop W7 64bit?

Also, can some of you share their setup for Forza 3?? (ingame and wheel settings)

So anyone who orders V2 from now on, will get a free adapter? Is it possible for them who ordered in summer to get one for free too or we should buy it, if we need one?

Hi, think I have a problem with my turbo s wheel. I just turned it on about an hour ago and went to play dirt 2 and a bit of forza and the wheel feels really different.

Since I got the wheel last week, the turning and force feedback was really smooth but now when I turn the wheel I get this sort of vibrating notchy feeling in the wheel.

On start up the wheel sounds fine when doing its calibration but as soon as I move the wheel after this, its like the force feedback is going over bumps and getting stuck or something. It also makes a loud rattling noise when this happens.

Anyone experienced this? or has my wheel broke after 5 days:tdown:? (already have had to send fanatec support an email about LED's dying in my display screen)

Thanks in advance if anyone can help.

IBO
about 4 cm but you need to be careful that the screws are not tightened too much because otherwise you can damage the belt drive.

Rudi
Please contact our e-support. Perhaps he knows the issue.

wow 4! no worry i got probably 2 - 2.5 cm in it. Will change it to a slightly longer to not risk ripping the wheel of the base

I already contacted customer support on friday night about the LED display issue I am having(Page-106), should I wait until you reply to that one or just send in another email?

P.S. I just tried the wheel again and it still does it, however when I turn force feedback off completely on the wheel, the steering is obv. really light but it feels smooth again, would this mean its the force feedback that has a problem?

sorry for the double post.

Was trying forza 3 out again with the wheel and it dosent seem to make the notchy feedback problem as much but for the first 1-2inches of rotation left or right there is a sort of grinding noise and then after that its smooth. Can any turbo s owners tell me if this is normal?

If it is normal then maybe it's just Dirt 2 that causes the problem (still dosent explain why dirt 2 would go from smooth force feedback to notchy feedback in a day).
