Quick question - i know I can use the dongle just hook up via USB for the PS3, but can I use USB on the xbox? Just wondering if that would work and I wouldn't risk a dropout of the wireless while racing Forza.

No.

The USB Dongle is PC/PS3 specific. The wheel has built in Wireless for Xbox connectivity.

That I understand - but what happens if you plug a usb cord between the wheel and an xbox? Does it recognize the wheel and override the wireless?

No, it does not.

Xbox Functionality is wireless only.

Anyone Upgrade their RS wheels to V2? Is it working well? No more date changes on the PS3 to play prologue?

Sorry guys... You'll just have to wait for the review.

However, the PWC is easily the best "bang for the buck", as it is significantly lower in price, but still offers the same features (as long as you don't need Xbox support).

I guess all of the wheels are great in the end on whatever you look for. But for PC, Xbox and PS3 Turbo S no doubt.

I don't think the upgrade is out yet. It was announced a while back but I don't think is available yet.
Thomas, any news on this? We've been waiting a couple of months now.

If you mean GT3RS V2, then it's already out. I've owned one for almost two months.
If you mean upgrade kit, it seems you still have to wait for it.

So i got my turbo S UE today. And darn, it's so cool and great and blabla

Just played 3 hours strait Forza 3. That game was never that fun (even if it's still too easy, but a major improvement over the controller)

I have mounted the orange colour kit and carbon shifter paddles already, hardmounted the whole (so good the clamp can be taken of without opening the case :D, now my room is messy!)

i will give a review of it in this week and pics, as i need more time to give a rating to it.

But first impression : WOW

Only a little question as i read on fanatecs site that sound is normal (coming from vents,...), but i also read about a guy who got an cable grinded by the vent.
now my wheel started to make a "strange" sound, sound like a cd reader spinning. is that the vent. ? When i tilt the wheel 90° up or down the vent sounds normal, on horizontal it makes that sound.

So should i worry or is it normal?
 
*ibo* S3 Racer the noise you are hearing is the fan hitting the metal object that it sits on. Normally the sound will be quiet when the wheel is cold, as the wheel is used and gets warmer the metal object which I presume is a heatsink gets hotter and the noise gets worse.

Now I had a problem with my fan, it completely stopped working and Fanatec Support gave me permission to open it up. The 2 screws holding the fan are screwed on too tight, if they are loosened ever so slightly the noise is much quieter. However even after making these adjustments and after around 3 hours play I can hear the fan hitting the metal object when driving over rumble strips, driving over grass etc.

I am almost convinced that if you turn the vibration off the fan will make less noise :)

I wouldn't worry about it, just enjoy.

that's what i wanted to hear.

I will try with the vibrations down, and i just noticed it because i turned the sound down while on the cell. So during normal play i don't really hear it as long as i don't concentrate on that.

Surely if the fan is hitting something its causing damage and will degrade over time?
 
On some wheels there is a little noise. We already changed that for the latest production and added some washers and cut some metal off the heat sink but as long as the fan is turning everything is fine. And in case the fan stops the wheel has a temp sensor to reduce or shut down the Force Feedback to avoid any damage.

That's fine, as said at first i didn't even noticed it (noticed it when turning volume of tv down).
and with the warrenty and the quick delivery, i'm not worried. (+auto shutdown is really good feature)

great wheel ;)

Will give you guys pics of my rig this afternoon when i get home. It looks stunning with orange pedals :D
