Any stores planning a midnight launch?

Most retail stores prefer to do midnight launches for multi-console games...GT5 being PS3 only is unlikely to get a midnight launch.

I was hoping to lineup for a CE as most stores around me don't let you pre-order the CE...but I guess that won't happen.

It's not that. Halo games always get a midnight release. It's due to the delays, retailers unsure if it will actually come out, and its hard for them to get people to work midnights just a week or 2 before release.

They waited too long to announce a final date, so the midnight releases arent happening at most places because of it. In a nutshell this is what 2 gamestops told me.
 
Anyone going to the Chapel Street EB games one? Drop me a PM if you are. I was going to go JB Hifi but they didn't have signature editions. At least with EB I can return it even if I've opened it when I pick up my signature edition.
 
I can confirm that GT5 is in being held in storage in stores now! I placed my pre order and when i paid at the counter the sales guy told the checkout girl to "give me the reciept but make sure you don`t give him the game yet". He realised his slip up straight away but i was already on to him and I quickly said to him "it`s already here isn`t it, and your hiding it out the back aren`t you?" He couldn`t wipe the smile of his face and danced around it and finally said i can`t release it until midnight on the 24th. (au)

Oh man, haha I'm so going to try my luck at the local EB Games! :dopey:
 
haha i gave my buddy crap cuz hes like "we got a big shipment of gran tru....i mean a new game coming in" i kinda smirked and said "so...can i get mine yet?" and he said no, he can be fired and w/e, btw my gamestop is not releasing it at midnight anymore, they decided against it

I can confirm GameStops have theirs. My friend is a Manager and said he got his shipment in yesterday. I asked if he brought one home, didnt reply to my text.. bastard. :grumpy:
 
Calling my GS tomorrow. Unless something changed in a day and a half, they should sell it. Target, GS , and Best Buy are all in the same shopping area. Our WalMart 10 min away has it, no CE's though. They plan on selling Monday at midnight, Nov 24th. He said it twice! So if all of these stores have it, I can't see GameStop not having it.

Ugg, I just called my local GS. I asked when they are getting it/selling, of course he said Wednesday. I asked if they are doing a midnight launch. Also got a NO. Damn, there goes my night planned. Although I only planned to install it and play a weather race on the Ring. Guess not.

And of course they dont open till 10. Guess I;ll sleep or something, but I find that just wastes racing time.

Man...I hate waiting! Some people say that waiting is part of the fun of a game coming out...I personally disagree with that lol. I have 2 CE's reserved...one at one Gamestop and one at another....neither of them are doing Midnight Launches :( The night of Tuesday the 23rd is going to be the longest night of my life. I am going to get at least 20 hours of sleep before Wednesday morning so that I can play for like 24 hours straight.
 
The anticipation wasn't anywhere near as bad for GT3 & GT4. For 3, I wasn't on the web. For GT4, I wasn't on the web that much. GT5p was not that bad of a wait. We had GTHD and the TGS GT5p Demo. This wait for GT5 has been brutal! Sony sticks a bit of salt in the wound by releasing on a Wednesday?!?!
 
I don't see whats wrong with a midnight release. A lot of people say its dumb and you might as well pick it up in the morning. I mean if people want to go them let them.

I myself get out of work at 11:30pm on Tuesday night and I have a Gamestop nearby, so why not?
 
If you're near Manchester, UK then be aware that Game at the Trafford Centre are doing a midnight launch. I'll be there, unless I can source one somewhere else sooner!
 
I wonder if Wal-Mart would sell me a copy at midnight Monday night. They are so used to having new releases on Tuesday, they might just fall for it.
 
For NYC area people...there are two stores that are getting and selling Gran Turismo 5 on Monday afternoon. The stores are Nassau Electronnics and the other is located on 4th ave adn 6th street. I forgot the name of the last place but you can't miss the store. It has a big mario infront.
 
My buddy that works at GameStop told me they are recieving it on monday. And that he'll try to give it to me monday or tuesday.
 
Gamestop here in Dallas, Texas says no midnight launch due to the rushed release date news. Guy told me that because Sony waited so long to release a release date, they didn't have enough time or materials for a midnight launch.

Depression sets in.
 
Well, now i've come to find out my Gamestop ISN'T doing a Midnight launch. Tho i did call my local Walmart and il be able to go pick the game up there after midnight. 👍

So more than likely guy's if you have a Walmart close, or something similar. And your gamestop or what have you isn't opening at midnight, you can more than likely go get it there.

I guess it looks like Walmart is the place to go? I'm in Naples FL and we have like 6 of them nearby, rofl, I guess I'll have to ring a couple of them up for a midnight release. Was wondering if they'd have it early but I might be being a bit hopeful for that.

I'm on the lookout to see if any stores will sell it early. I'm in DFW as well. Let me know if you have any success.
 
I was in Walmart to pick up a Rx so I went to the game section to see if they were out yet. Not on the shelves. Didn't bother asking in the gaming section.

I was hoping there would be one out, so I could take it to the Rx checkout and she probably wouldn't know not to sell it, unless it had a sticker or something.
 
Did not read through all the post so not sure if posted already but,

GAME at Trafford centre Manchester is doing an 11pm launch on the 23rd.
