Any stores planning a midnight launch?

EB Games in Botany Town Centre, Auckland is doing a midnight launch for those around this area. They told me they're the official launch store for New Zealand... whatever that means

I hate the lady who works at Eb games in Downtown Auckland because I asked her if you guys have GT5 already in-stock at the back of the store and she said no. I was like what the 🤬??

Okay I bet she was joking. :lol: Just have to wait for 2 days till it's release. :)
 
If you live in Europe you should buy the game from "pixmania". They are shipping from France and you will have the game tomorrow. :)
 
Non of my local stores appear to be doing a midnight launch. I've got to find some local 24h supermarkets by the looks of things.
 
I just realized that getting the game at 10:00am on the 24th is probably better than getting at midnight anyway...

Think about it, you get the game at midnight and will probably play till 6am cause youll get tired and zonk out...

Get the game at 10:00am and you can play literally all day...for about 20 hours.

Ok, I guess im just looking for excuse here not to be pissed that no game store are doing a midnight launch around me....it's a good theory though....right? :)

the store is called gameplay there actually a chain of stores so search and give them a call, might be one near your area. There is one in LA and Pomona also.

I don't think there will be much midnight launches in the US. The series is sort of wanning here (it's all about FPS in the US, CoD, Halo), but in the EU on the other hand, I fully expect it to be the biggest PS3 or 360 game launch.

This. GT is an old man's game here in the US. All the tweens are about COD and LBP. Nobody here want's to do a midnight release for nothing but 7 well-to-do 30yr olds. :D

Same here. Tesco will be putting the game out at 12am so I'm going there. I cant really see it being busy to be honest
 
Gamestation in Wigan is doing a midnight launch. I know this cos they rang me and invited me to it. Pity not long after i moved 220miles down the road to london lol.
 
Ugh, no midnight launches, BUT.. I did find a Target nearby (in Aiken SC) that said they will have it on the shelf tomorrow! So even better!

lol old mans game , in my opinion is THE GAME that define ps3 , i bought mine thinkin on GT .
im 33 and dont give a damm for cod or any fps , GT is the best way i find to race whithout loosing my license for good.

(actually in a 30 days period whithou driving license for speeding)

with GT dont have the rush to put pedal to the metal in real life, its fun but thats the way i feel , dont know if anyone thinks the same way.
 
My local Gamestop (Galleria) isn't doing midnight.

Oh well, I'll be there in the morning when they open I guess.
 
Ugh $%&#!! The Game Stop in my area will not be having a midnight release so I'll have to wait to get my CE version first thing Wednesday morning.

Lucky you I have to work on Wednesday. I only plan on playing until about 3am, then catching a few hours of sleep before I have to get up and leave. :dunce:

Target didnt answer after 2 times of trying. My friend that lives in FL said his Target told him it'll be on the shelf on Tuesday. IDK about mine yet,but will try tomorrow.
Wal-Mart said if they have it it'll be out on midnight Tuesday. So Iam going to wait until Tuesday to call back for conformation.

Well Iam getting mind f'd by Target.:grumpy: Yesterday I called, a guy answers, after asking when GT5 will be released, he answers, "we'll be selling it Tuesday" (he said it 4 times since I didnt believe him). I then asked again so at 8am I can pick it up Tuesday? He replied, "yes".

I called back today just to be sure and to hear the awesome again, a girl awswers, after asking the same question she almost immediately said, "we are not having it Tuesday, I dont think we are having a release this week". I asked, "can you check on your computer?" Then she replied back, "I dont have a computer to check." OMG:crazy:

So if anyone would like try a Target and see what you get Id like to know.

Umm I seriously doubt that this is correct. I work at a Target (in Raleigh, NC) and I scanned the game yesterday to see if we could sell it, and our system literally will not allow us to sell it until the 24th. I assume that all Targets run on the same system, and they probably just assumed that since they have it, it will come out on tuesday because that is when all of our entertainment releases drop.
 
I just call in my local GameStop Store.

The guy told me its going to be available around 10 30 in the morning once they open up. They wont do midnight release because he says they still did not receive the copies and that they are on the way.

Too bad they wont be having midnight rlease, but at the same time I wont be playing all night anyways because I will be tired from work. But Wednesday I have off, so I can play ALL DAY LONG!

They have told me this so far as of today and they have also told a friend that lives in Florida the same thing that it will be Tuesday.:nervous: I plan on calling back later today to check for one last time.

so Gamestop wont be having a midnight release??? i hope they do, i cant wait any longer!
...darn just called my local gamestop and there not doing one. Real bummer, i think this game deserves a midnight release.

I can shed some light on this topic, as I work at Target.

Target already has both the Normal Edition and the Collector's Edition in stock in the back electronics room. I know this because I work security and every night we have to count the "popular" games to make sure none of them are missing...and yes, I have seen GT5...both editions, sitting back in there in all their glory.

The boxes are NOT street dated! meaning there is no RED wording on the cardboard boxes saying: "Do not sell before November 24, 2010".

So..(this is what I would do):

1) Call Target..and ask what the STL or LOD's name is.
2) Once you get that name...memorize it!
3) Go to the Target you just called and head straight back to the electronics department.
4) Go up to one of the morons working in the electronics department and tell them that your'e there to pick up a game that just came out today called Gran Turismo 5.
5) Before they have a chance to respond, say..."Yeah, I just called and spoke to (insert name you just got on the phone), and they said that they are in stock in the backroom and I can pick it up.
6) If they try to say no...cut in again and tell them that you JUST drove 1 hour to this store because the STL told you that they have them! Raise your voice!
7) Get your game, and pay for it.
8) Go home and enjoy.

The reason why this will work is the fact that ALL team members are afraid of the STL (Store Manager)....they will NOT want to go against something that an STL told you.

By calling Target...you will waste your time. When the Team Members hide behind a phone...they are the toughest people ever....but when you confront them face to face....they will back down...trust me!.

Most important part is to get the name of that STL! Once you have the name...go after 6pm! If you go before 6pm...the STL might still be there and then, the team member can verify that you never talked to them!. Go after 6pm and there is NO way to verify what was said between you and the STL.

Sometimes the STL's stay later than 6pm...but usually never on a weekday. They are always gone by 6pm on weekdays.

I scanned it too...and got that message the first time, but when I re-scanned it again using the same PDA...it didn't say it again. My Fiance is an ETL at a different store than the one I work at...so tomorrow morning, i'm going to her store to see if I can get her to ring me up :) Im just gunna tell her that I wanna buy a game and it's in the backroom. lol

Leader On Duty

There are multiple LOD's per day...since a human being cannot work a 18 hour shift. They have an Opening LOD, Mid LOD, and a Closing LOD.

LOD = Manager

Here is the hierarchy of Target from top to bottom:

1) STL - Store Team Leader (Store Manager)
2) ETL - Executive Team Leader / Manager / (LOD)
3) Team Member - Expendable Pee-on
 
so we got our box of gran turismo today at gamestop.I GOT TO HOLD IT!!!! lol

i didnt see any collectors which has me worried because thats what i pre-ordered. no midnight release either which means i have to wait till i get off wednesday to play.
