^I know, but the moment you install the game in your PS3, you will totally forget about those two little cars for at least 3 months my friend..

why doesn't everybody go to Wal-Mart? Most stores are open 24hrs and they'll give you the game as soon as the clock hits midnight.

Just last month I tagged along with my room mate to pick up a midnight release of Smackdown vs Raw 2011 at our local 24-hour Wal-Mart. And yeah, there was only one other person there to pick up the game besides my roommate. GT5 is (obviously) a bigger title release so you can expect a similar treatment for this game.

Yeah, if Target doesn't have it for me tomorrow, I'll be visiting a wal mart on the 24th, several hours before Gamestop even thinks about opening.

They have it, but the cash register will not let them sell it until the 24th. Iam thinking of cancelling my pre order at GS and getting it midnight at Wal-Mart, but I know if I get it at midnight I'll not goto sleep and if I dont get it at midnight I won't goto sleep from excitement. I'll probably give in and get it at midnight.:D

24hr Walmart.. GS said they're not even doing a midnight release just as most of them aren't. He said they'd be selling at 10 am...

Called up Walmart and although the associate wasn't aware of GT5 specifically, he said that their policy is to start selling games at "12:01am" on release date... so I'm hoping they oughtta have it.

I just called one of the Walmarts near me (in Grand Haven, MI) and had a lady check to see if they were releasing the game at midnight tonight (technically Tuesday, the 23rd). After checking, she told me the game would be available at 12:01. I am not getting TOO excited, but if nothing else, I got her name and will throw a hissy fit if I dont get why I want.

Why? Because a salesperson made a mistake?

Hey you guys have any idea where to pick up an early copy of the game if you live in Vancouver, Canada?

If it's anything like the US, good luck. I even had a couple of people that tried to get me a copy but couldn't without stealing it.

Okay mate, thanks for the reply
I'm still hoping that EB Games in Canada will release the game one day early, but i doubt it though

For NYC area people...there are two stores that are getting and selling Gran Turismo 5 on Monday afternoon. The stores are Nassau Electronnics and the other is located on 4th ave adn 6th street. I forgot the name of the last place but you can't miss the store. It has a big mario infront.

Nah dude, none of those 2 stores plus at least 3 other Mom & Pops either don't have them or are scared *$%* -less of selling it before the release date. I spent a few hours walking from Nassau Electronics to JnL Trading on Elizabeth Street (off Canal) to the Elizabeth Street Center across the street from JnL and then to VideoGamesNewYork (6th street on 4th Ave.) I also visited a bunch of Best Buys, a P.C. Richard, and at least 3 Game Stops. Nobody would say they had them and would sell them early in the same breath. Do you know of any other places? Going through sickness withdrawals: :nervous:

Well, there is a 24 hour Best Buy in Union Square (14th st) in NY that WILL be selling it at midnight.

"Most" aren't open 24 hours. I live in the great city of Chicago, and no where near me do they even have one that is open 24/7.

Who knows. We can all hope right? I sure had high expectations of scoring a copy early.

Yeah i might pop down to the store tomorrow and see whether i could get one a day early or not

My Gamestop in Lake Hallie, Wisconsin is having a midnight release. I can hardly believe it to be honest. I can't imagine 49 other people in my area buying the game let alone pre-ordering it from the same store as me.

More like coz he was given information by a person representing an organisation and then that organisation goes back on that information... but we're all well accustomed to that now

I don't think there will be much midnight launches in the US. The series is sort of wanning here (it's all about FPS in the US, CoD, Halo), but in the EU on the other hand, I fully expect it to be the biggest PS3 or 360 game launch.

Haha yeah, that's almost a fact. I don't even know of anyone who enjoys Gran Turismo in my area either.

I should try and check my local Best Buy for a Midnight launch regardless. I doubt it'll have it anyway. It didn't even have one for Reach!

Just got home from Walmart.

There were two positives from making the drive:

1.) I got to hold GT5. As soon as I walked into the games area, a young kid came up to me and asked if I was the person who called about Gran Turismo. I said I was, and he handed me the game. This immediately changed my outlook on the evening. Even while holding it and walking towards the front of the store to check out, I knew the chances of me walking out of there with it were less than slim. However, I was impressed that the lady I talked to went out of her way to grab me a copy and make the employee aware that I was coming in to get the game.

2.) The trip netted me a $10 gift card. As expected, the lady at the register swiped the game, prompting a "Do Not Sell" message. She called over someone (it ended up being the lady I talked to on the phone) and told her about the problem. I acted clueless as they discussed the issue, and they then told me there had been a mistake and that the game wouldn't be available until tomorrow at midnight. I gave her a surprised face and told her that was rather disappointing as I had driven quite a ways (a mild exaggeration) to buy this game from them, and that I didn't understand why she had told me that the game was available on the phone if a later date was in the computer. She called some guy over, and they ended up apologizing for her mistake and offered me a gift card. I haven't ever had that happen at a Walmart, so I was obviously surprised and pleased.

Anyways, it was worth a shot. But in the end, I am pretty much where I thought I'd be.. waiting 23 more hours :indiff:

Gamestop's Midnight Launches are usually about the demand in the area. Some people will get it and some won't

Anyone on the East Coast have luck at a 24hr Wal-Mart?

Just called mine and they said they had it and would be selling it tonight at 12:01am. I'm reluctant to drive 30mins to find out the cash register won't let them sell it.

I tried, they said the same thing to me but couldn't ring it up. I'd ask them to to ring one up before you drive out if possible..

Damn, I'll call and have them try. Probably going to get the same result.

Or I could get it in my hands and run like hell.. :)

Yeah when I was carrying it to the front register that thought crossed my mind as well 💡...

...Then I came to my senses

Naples FL has like 6 Walmarts or something, I'm going to have to call a couple of them tomorrow I guess an find out. They better be able to sell it me at 12:01 because this is one of the VERY few games I'll bother getting at a midnight launch.
