Ahh Bergen County ... land of gridlocked shoppers :D

I don't think the blue laws apply to the midnight openings because I know 2 towns in Bergen County (Edgewater and Fort Lee) that usually do have midnight openings. The one in Fort Lee was scheduled to do a midnight launch for the Nov 2nd release, but I don't know if they're doing one now.

Its not Bergen County with the severe blue laws, its the mecca of malls, Paramus that has it. Most of the gamestops near me are in malls.

For Aussies, I called EBGames Victoria Galleries store and they said they are geared up for the launch. "If you've preordered your copy then you are garanteed to recieve a copy on the day" is what the girl said. S

he also said they are not planning a midnight launch but will possibly open earlier than the 8:30am usual openning time for the launch. She said they will be calling all those who pre-ordered next week when details are firmed up.

The GameStop in my area said they will probably do a midnight launch. I preordered the new NFS which there were on 13 people waiting, 11 who were waiting for assassin's creed. Keeping fingers crossed, should have asked how many pre-orders for GT5.

The Gamestop in Shelby,North Carolina is having a midnight release,i called earlier today and they said that they had 49 pre-orders.

I called the 3 closest gamestops to me and got a No-go. Called 2 walmarts and got a Yes. However I don't know if I really trust them... LOL Its walmart! I have a pre-order in place at gamestop. I may just say forget it anyway and just grab it that morning. I've been a zombie with black ops and shouldn't kill myself again with another all nighter. I'm getting to old for this. hahah

I am in Arizona my closest is Casa Grande so I gotta find out later today If they are gonna do one. I would think so I got forza 3 at a midnight launch its not just about getting a game 8 10 hours early I usually got out for jack in the box and get a shake at sonic so Its a lame tradition for me but those are fun nights.

I will desperately be scouering my area for shops which do a midnight release. I have the wednesday off, so it would certainly be benificial for me to get it at midnight and play all through the day. :P

In the UK, my local Asda store did a midnigfht release for COD Black Ops, I'm hoping they do the say for GT5.

AH true. Good luck getting the GSP to open up for a videogame. They'll just say ... wtf.

Yep, Quite a few of my local stores did, COD however is a bigger game being multi-platform, it might be harder justifying a midnight release for a single console game, but if any single platform game were to have one, it would be GT5, so here is to hoping.👍

Hence why I'm going to the BTC to get it. Not that it will make a difference its just easier to go to that store.

in our computers it said 1/1/11 as the release date, and then monday is when it changed to the 24th. (well thats when i checked on my pre-order) I asked my managers about it and they were shocked. Seeing as its a week away and we really just got news of it i doubt it would be a midnight. If it was up to me i would have a midnight even if i was the only one there:sly:

I was just about to suggest supermarkets that are open 24 hours. Even if they aren't planning a pre-announced midnight launch they should still sell it to you. It might be worth contacting them in advance so you don't have to convince the graveyard shift staff to go and get it for you.

Yes, I will be driving past two or three closed Wal-Marts to a 24-hour one. Luckily, it's still just 12 miles away (as the crow flies)

They will sell it to you if you're there at midnight and they haven't put them on display yet, right? I remember going to a Target on the morning GT PSP was released and they didn't even know what Gran Turismo was and I had to convince them it was a new PSP game and that they should have some boxes of them somewhere. Luckily they did, but it took almost a half an hour for the zombies to find a copy. Wal-Mart zombies are ten times worse than Target zombies so I will definitely call ahead of time so as not to waste the drive.

Very interesting. I'm planning on going to Meijer that is 24 hours. I'll try a couple of Meijers and Walmart if the nearest Meijer doesn't sell me a copy at midnight. But when I called, they said they would sell at midnight "if they have them."

There seems to be a general consensus (in the very small sample size I have taken :P), that ringing up in advance seems like a good idea for any non-game orientated shop. I have a few days yet to research the shops in advance. Am I a sad person? :D

Definitely not sad to do that; but rather, wise. We'll all already be antsy driving to pick up our games, we don't need the added aggravation of some douche not even selling when we get there.

Good news! I talked to the smurfs over at my old workplace - Best Buy Woodland Hills will be doing a midnight launch! Just down the boulevard from me! See you there, west SFV GTers! :)

Australians who have pre orders with JB HIFI ,they have confirmed a midnight launch at the following stores.

JB Chadstone, VIC
JB Bourke St , VIC
JB Adelaide City. SA (Thurs 25th 12am-2am
JB Hobart , TAS
JB Knox , VIC
JB Miranda , NSW

Above stores open from 10pm on the 24th Nov until 1am on the 25th with the exception of the Adelaide store.

Even though they are open from 10pm , i doubt you will be able to get your hands on GT5 before midnight, no harm in asking tho hee hee.:)

Arccording to a quick search, the only games coming out on the 24th are GT5 and Crazy Taxi for the other console. GT5 will pretty much have or not have midnight launches on it's own merit.

My Gamestop is doing a midnight launch and this is my first time going. Any tips?

Just go about two hours before it opens, I doubt the line will be THAT long. The last time I stood in line for a game was for GTA Vice City on PS2. That was at the EB Game inside what was the Topanga Mall which is now Westfield or some other BS.

The Gamestop in Northridge is likely going to have a Midnight sale along with the Gamestop inside the Northridge Mall since they also show movies that run past midnight as well.

There's a Best Buy in Northridge now as well, those are at least 3 locations less than a mile from each other that will likely be selling the game at Midnight, I doubt you'll actually run into a line.

I showed up 7 hours before Black Friday 2010 @ Fry's in Woodland Hills opened and was only about half down the building on the side, still got what I wanted (this laptop I'm typing on) and left the store about 15 mins later....

GT5 is not a TV or something at rock bottom prices, its an enthusiast game and I can pretty much say we "All Love Cars" and we'll be in-line. Sadly as I'm unemployed I don't have a PS3 and I don't have the money to buy that or the game.

I have no idea when I'll be able to afford it either, Spring of 2011 MAYBE.

did you preorder? if so, show up 5-10 min before the doors open. If not, I would get there an hr or two early. Bring a friend, it helps. If its cold, make sure to wear plenty of layers, especially if its windy. Bring some snacks, drinks, leave them in the car or a small cooler.

Don't go 20 minutes late, the store will be open as long as they are selling the game. If there's no one there they will close the store. I was apart of a midnight launch that lasted 6 minutes..... everyone pre paid, just showed receipt, got their stuff and walked away in less than a minute each.

I just called two stores and one said they have no plans but it could change, the other said its too far off to tell. I'll just pre pay at the one close to me.
