Any stores planning a midnight launch?

Just called and the GameStop where I preordered said they are not doing a midnight release.

There's also a Walmart nearby and they said preorders must be done online but they will be selling them at midnight, but there's no guarantee that they will have copies at midnight. :-/

There is a BestBuy right there too, but they don't answer the phone... ever.

I already have abot $70 on my GT5 CE at GameStop though, but I'm thinking of switching to regular edition because of weak track list. GS did say I could do that but changing fron regular to CE is no guaranteed at this point because of supply.

Decisions decisions... maybe BB will do midnight release.. I dunno. Or I could just wait till next day.. arhhg.
 
Well its no big deal for me as I still have to work in the morning and wont be able to play till I get off at 5pm :)
 
Does anyone know when retail stores would start getting their shipments of the game in? I know when I worked at Best Buy, we would get some of the bigger releases sometimes a week in advance, and they would just sit there awaiting launch day.
 
Great news!!! The Dacia Sandero....

Just called my GameStop and they will NOT be doing a midnight release. Being that the "street date" is Nov 2nd and they have not received their stock yet, they will be selling the game as soon as they get it in the store. I'll get a computer phone call the day before, as with any other preorder.

I'm guessing that they don't know what they are talking about. The original street date was 11/2, but was pushed back by 3 weeks. I think that they would get in big trouble if they sold 100 copies before the 24th.

Really? My Gamestop said they were doing a midnight release.
 
The term "street date" is not being used with the 11/24 date, unlike 11/2. I'm not expecting it, but that automated call could come at any minute. UPS doesn't deliver on Saturdays, but FedEx does. The people who run my GS are shooter people. I was shocked when he told me they'd sell it when they got it.

Well if that's the case, that's awesome. I wish mine would sell me a copy when they got them in stock. I've been really tempted to go and tell them that if they give me a copy on the night of the 23rd that I will give them $80 cash and that they can keep the change when they cashier it the following morning.
 
I called my GS store where I have my pre-order and granted it's not a big store, but they said they haven't decided on whether or not to do a midnight release or not. I sure hope so because I don't want to wait until 10am that'd be rough after a night of not sleeping anyway :lol: I'm going to ask some friends to call them and request that they do a midnight release.

I thought about the cash too. But I've got preorders paid for. I've even called a small resale shop who does trading cards too. He won't sell before the 24th and isn't even sure if he'll get it until Wed morning.
 
Will I be able to get it at tesco at midnight, fellow UK'ers? :)
 
I didn't preorder on amazon. :guilty: Oh well, if anyone finds a store in DFW selling it as soon as it arrives in the store please post your findings.
 
I called up a few places that were advertising a midnight launch. I currently had a pre order for the signature edition at ebgames. All the places doing the midnight launch though were out of signature editions including the one ebgames that was doing a midnight launch. I asked them if they could move my pre order to the midnight launch store but they couldn't. Was funny though as the guy at the store just told me to buy the standard edition at midnight and return it when i go pick up my signature edition the next day.
 
i called my gamestop in CA and they said they were not doing a midnight release but they guy i talked to seemed like it was his first day, so going to call back next monday and see what they say.
 
Yes waart sells games at midnight. They may set up a line depending on how many people are waiting. Call your store about their proceedure.
 
my local Game store is doing a midnight launch :D gonna get there nice and early so I don't have to wait as long as I did with black ops

I called regarding this and they said they classified a midnight release as being a promotional thing with snacks and free game schwag. But they also told me that they will sell games on release day at midnight whether they are having a promotion or not. So I think that's going to be the safe bet for 90% of people that want it ASAP.
 
Just checked my local Gamestop and they most likely won't considering they've got 25 pre-orders total for the game. (19 for the regular edition and 6 for the Collector's Edition)

Sucks, but it's not all bad. This way, I'll probably wonder in at 11 or noon and pick up the game and the strategy guide. That way I can look at the guide while the game installs and will have something to do while I'm not stuffing my face with food.
 
I think i might be the craziest person i know...

I cancelled my overnight shipping pre-order of the collectors edition in trade for a midnight release in-store pick up! IDC about all the goodies with the game, i just want to play it until i physically fall asleep from over-exhaustion.
 
I just talked to my guy at Gamestop about my CE edition. He said he hasn't been given any details on the release hours but told me to check the day before.
 
There is a rumour,in Akihabara nov 25 all stores will open at midnight due the high demand,this is unconfirmed so far but last time I been there (last weekend)
the manager of one of the manga stores told me that most of them will open at midnight,and most importantly they will have some people attending,this is unconfirmed but is very likely, Japan is crazy for GT5!
 
Well since there aren't any midnight launches near me, I plan to sleep nice and early on Wednesday night, get up and head to EB games near me for their openning at 9:00 and be playing GT5 all day until I drop from approx 9:50am onwards :P

There were about 15, but everyone pre paid and was in and out in 15-30 seconds each with two cashiers. I know because I had not left yet and they pretty much closed up before I got off the lot.
