over the years an different games iv done about 2000+ laps of nur love it :P
probably about 4000 ragequits to
it takes a hell of alot of practise just to get a slow clean lap.
its not called "green hell" for nothing lol
once you know the track it becomes very addictive an you just have to go faster

I've Golded every Intermediate AMG challenge bar the full lap. It's gonna take a while... :(

Same, my best is 7 minutes 10 seconds. Where the hell can I find 5 seconds? FIVE SECONDS!? That's an eternity in motor sports.

Me too haha. Clocked in a 7'10 a few hours ago.

Question to the guys who have intermediate full track gold. Do you guys ride the curbs? I am extremely aggressive with the SLS, no aids aside from ABS at 1. I have trouble remembering some parts of the track, but it seems like you really need to attack those curbs and draw out as much hp as you can on those long straights? Or is a more smooth, finesse needed?

Same here.

Did a 7:05:900 with my DS3 (can't afford a wheel nor the space). Needless to say I almost cried.

This gold challenge is way too hard.

I got gold on the rest of the first 2 levels, but this one has haunted me all yesterday, and I have driven quick laps there (like 6:20 with a fully tuned SLS AMG).

ATM i have unlocked the first 3 AMG tiers, golded them all.
The full lap with the 300SL in the rain i was 11 seconds faster than the gold time. I'm driving with a G25, all aids off, only ABS on 1.

I found the tests with the SLS being quite easy, there's a large margin for mistakes and still get the gold. The challenges with the SL300 though are very tough indeed. You need to be extremely precise and run the track several dozens of time to determine the optimal gear/line for each turn.

So basically: practice, practice and practice.

It was the exact opposite for me.
I thought the SL300 was easy and the SLS harder.
Amazing how we all have different driving adaptability.
It seemed I had a better feel for the limits of the 300SL.

Gold is definitely reachable with a wheel with TCS 0 ABS 1. It's hard nailing the perfect lap down, but that's why you want to practice until you nail the perfect lap every lap, so you can smoke everyone online. :dopey:

Was kinda annoyed when I nailed down the perfect lap and then mucked up near the end when I carried too much speed into the last two corners from the straight. If I didn't spun out there, I would've definitely gotten gold. It helped alot too by playing the PSP version and memorizing all the blind corners.

Practice, practice, practice. That's the key, I guess. Actually, I found the AMG challenge one of the easiest, the reason probably that I drove around the Ring in GT4 uncountable times, so I know it inside out. I did it with pad, and I think I could do even better with a wheel. It's quite possible.

My settings are all aids off except ABS on 1, and in the rain I use traction control on 1.

Sorry if I sounded a bit braggy there, lol. I suck at Nascar though.

So far I've managed to gold everything except for the Intermediate full lap of the 'ring using the tuned SLS AMG. I'm also using a G25 btw, no aids except ABS @ 1, and active steering set to strong.

Just practice... practice makes perfect!

I´ve golded them but it was hard... Just step on it! I pushed the car to the limit all the time especially in full throttle corners

best thing i found is if you take traction off and get as much exit speed as possible and its much easier with a wheel

Yeah, the DS3 isn't too bad but I long for a G27. I did better in the rain challenge. On some of the sectors, I don't see how I could ever get gold with a controller.

Practice!

The track and the game's physics are different from what we are used to, so more practice is what's needed.

After a number of attempts, I'm now at Gold for all three track sections at the Beginner level. It just takes some time to get used to the car and the track again.

One thing that I have noticed is a dead spot (no torque) in the AMG's engine in the middle of 3rd gear. Maybe its my imagination? So I'm downshifting into second gear in some of the tight turns to accelerate out of them a little quicker.

Has anyone else noticed this?

Respectfully,
GTsail

I noticed it. Thought it was just me.

Kai....

Is this an easy challenge for many people? I mean, people are posting that they have a problem with the Top Gear challenges, but not this?

I am having trouble with the beginner event sector 3, does anyone have any "breakthrough" tips they discovered? The most helpful thing I found out was shifting between 3rd and 4th in the last 4 or 5 turns like in the demo helps a bit.

Intermediate is easy except the full lap. After an hour of trying I just did it at 7:01,5xx. You really have to push hard and try to perfect each sector. I was quite surprised where i was able to pass those cars in the end.

PLEASE anybody post video of beginner sector 4! Please i got gold everywhere except this one.. i am 1,5 seconds behind!

Lol, I golded all of the beginner through intermediate challenges in either my first or second try. I thought they were all really easy. Especially the SLS. Sector 3 in the SL 300 took 2 tries but was not that bad. You just have to go against your judgement and not brake 90% of the time.

Hey guys. Just did it with the Six-Axix in one hour... Timing is key in GT5, so start learning the Nürburgring Nordschleife with 90 percent on the throttle, and built up the throttle to minimize your lap times. =) Dual Shock - you can do it with one. :)

I've golded them all with a DS3 and auto trans.

I wouldn't say they were easy, but I had the most trouble with the SLS full lap.

After about ten tries, not counting a few startovers, I ran a 7:05.028.
Talk about disappointing.........

Later ran it with a 7:03.8something.

You can always take the shortcuts where available if you have too.
Otherwise its just practicing and improving.

it really is done to knowing all the track cornering and speed

it took me a good 7 hours to get the gold on the intermediate 1 lap gold i kept getting 7.06 and then almost gave up it will come in time if you are committed and dont give up and just keep trying then you will get it

if you get frustrated however have a break do something else as when u get frustrated it makes it worse so just stay calm and you will eventually get it i thought i was never going to get it then i ket trying and trying till i did

good luck

I think Polyphony Digital should adjust the times for pad users, because I have only got one gold in the 300SL event.

Thanks, you give me encouragement now. I remember your original thread. Where did you find times to cut? I'm at 7'08'' and just run out of areas to speed up at.

The hardest part about the 'ring is the complexity of multiple corners. When learning this track on GT4 I could practice all day, but it wasn't until I thought 2-3 corners ahead that I started to get fast. If you are reacting to the next corner, you will fail.

Practice is the answer, of course - but what you should focus on are the few turns in each sector that lead to a long straight. In section 4, the last turn before the 2km straight is ridiculously important. Each mph that you can carry out of this corner alone is another ~0.5s on the whole lap. So if you think about that particular corner, the entry really doesn't matter nearly as much as the exit. In the SLS you need to brake quickly through the first section of the turn, ease on the throttle in the middle section, lift to get the car to turn in for the exit of the turn, and finally stand on the gas through the exit. If you need to take a little off of the first corner to make sure the car is steady to hit the gas a little earlier, then do it - your exit speed will more than make up for time lost entering the corner.

I've only done the beginner AMG school so far, Got gold for the first one the 2nd try and Silver for 2-3 and 4. Everyone of them multiple run and steadily closer and closer to the point of I literally don't know where to find .1 of a sec(.1-.2 of a sec is my margin with those to gold). Then the full lap was 1 sec off on first lap and beat it on the 2nd try. Not sure if the cumulative time of the 4 test is the gold time for test 5(since there are "traffic"). But its quite unbalanced IMO....driving with G25 but in sequential mode. Mind you I did ridiculous amount of laps in GT4 and rFactor on the ring, so I am kinda familiar with the layout if not the slight differences(sector 4 feels different between GT4 and GT5 for some reason)...The challenge for me is basically to know how hard to push to get the limit of the time. In those sector 2-3-4 tests I am literally using all the road I can and I can't think of where to go find the missing tenth(in corners the racing line and gears telling you to brake I literally sometimes just feather the gas sometimes...)...

Got gold on the first one and easily silvered the rest of them. I was just doing them for the money though and plan to go back to them later and practice hard. Those who think they can't make it will be surprised how much time you can gain with practice.

At Uni I got into a very heated competition with my mate on Midfield on GT3. We spent hours on it for a week or so and by the end of it we had set times that were unbelievably quick. If you'd said to me at the start of the week i'd be setting those sorts of times i'd have laughed at you but the competition was so fierce that we just pushed ourselves to near perfection. If you're really struggling go get a mate and get a big rivalry going and go at it hammer and tongs for a while.

Now, let me tell you a story about a man.. A man whose hands are very hurtful as I speak. He has wasted his whole day due to his stubborness (is that actually a word, or did I just make that up? hmm).. But he can't stop smiling... Because.. Well, he did gold the intermediate full lap after 6-7 hours of intense racing... Which resulted in a little cheating, because, you know, people need sleep...

That man was me.. And it still is... The number 7.04,463 is the only thing on my mind right now. I did it with the DS3..

This is my first post. Had to share this moment with people, who appreciate it just a little :D

Still going for golds in the beginner series but I've noticed the lack of a ghost car makes this one a little harder. Always helpful to see your progress compared to the ghost.

I think you need to memorize the track(or most of it) to gold this. I got silver on all of them easily but I tried it for about an hour today and I cant get gold on the full lap (like 20-25 sec to slow) Main problem I am having is I brake way to much for comers because I think they are slower then they actually are. Guess I just need to play it more -_-

I played it a bunch on GTR2 for computer.......... but there were no bumps and the elevation changes were not set up as well as they are in GT5. There are a couple places where i am used to going flat out but if you do that in GT5 you go up in the air and the loss of grip can cause you to go into a wall.
