I put 6,000 A-spec miles on my 300SL at the 'Ring in GT4 so know the track well enough. Silvered all the tests on either my first or second attempts but lack of a ghost car means not knowing whether I'm in the ballpark until the final straightaway.

I'm enjoying the test, just frustrated at killing so much time.

I was getting Silver's consistently on all of them but I found I was doing the best on the one in the Wet with the 300 SL. First time I was 2-3 seconds off gold on each of them, which in comparison to the others is quite good.

Turn off TC and ABS and be very precise with gear changes (you're not going to get it with AT). Also, cut corners when you can. Might as well give yourself an advantage if you're having trouble.

Your not going to get it with AT... Oh, That's all I've been using. :p

I'm finding that i'm a much better steerer in the rain than in the dry..... the Advanced Full Lap in the 300SL i golded by 18secs..... in the dry it was by 8.5secs, both with ABS 1 all other aids off.

Why would they make the game so you couldn't complete it with AT? I'm sure it's attainable with AT transmission.

All he's saying is that gold may not be attainable with an AT. And the car IS a manual so driving it as one will be a) more realistic and b)faster (well thats just in general:manual puts you in more control than auto)
Sorry, but I kinda doubt that you could do too well in any racing sim with only an AT. :/ Not meant as a slight, just saying AT's aren't really part of racing IRL.

Ok, but PD wouldn't design that aspect of the game to be won only by those who did it in manual, which is why it most certainly should be attainable in AT.

I'm doing the 2nd and 4th sectors in beginner and its so hard. I have gold on the rest but I'm .2 of a second off in sector 4, I think I loose all the time in the last few corners but I have no ghost to compare it too. I enter the straight and pass the sign above the track at 1:34-5 anyone know if thats good?

Hi, can we have a ghost on these specialevents? I got g25 and with no full support to buttons, I haven't found possible to turn ghost on. In gtacademy there was huge help of ghost when trying to put that best time to lap.

If there is no chance for ghost in specialevents, were it will be? timetrial? Thanks of your help:tup:

ive got all gold so far but im kinda stuck with the last one of intermediate.. i keep messing up the last turn fkkkk

after hours and hours of trying, I finally golded the last of the intermediate! I would always screw up a turn trying to push too hard. I finally did it in 7:02. The other sector tests were so easy to gold, I pretty much got em on the 1st or 2nd try. Now it's to the advanced tests!

A tip if you don't feel like using the wheel. I use R2 for acc. L2 for brake.(better for throttle/brake control) X for downshift. Square for up shift. Now I have all gold on the beginner. it took a couple days. I would deff. go manual for the all challenges because for uphill corners I would up shift .

Use Markers. End of a strip/turn/ anything and look at your time. it can always get better.

I silvered everything fairly easily, but could not manage to gold any. I couldn't figure out where I could find another 3-5 seconds per sector. But I really want to unlock the 24 hour track so I turned on the driving line and got the first sector in intermediate after 3 finishes. (I crashed a few times of course) And now I just golded the second sector.

But if you are having trouble finding those extra seconds like I am, I suggest putting on the driving line. Don't follow it literally, but rather use it as a guide. I usually always brake after the line says to. It helps show you what type of blind corners are coming up and how sharp they are. When you see red on the ground, get ready. I noticed I was braking too much in many spots, and I wasn't taking the best lines. At least the driving line will also solve that problem.

Also, I know alot of you aren't used to driving with no traction control on, but I highly suggest it. You get out of the turns so much quicker. But having said that, you need to control it. Don't slam the gas to get out of a corner. If you are used to having it on TC=5, try it on 2 until you get used to it. You will be a better racer for it in the long run anyway.

Hope this helps someone. Time to go finish my golds in intermediate!:)

for the expert mode, in wet with AMG SLS, just drive smooth, stay on track and use Traction control +2 stay a gear above what the recommended says, but utilise the lower rev range (unless on straight) I did it with a controller like that, gold first attempt on all but the full lap, had to do that twice...... keep at it, it'll be easy once you figure it out

Hi,

I'm certainly not suggesting your incorrect, but could you explain why up shifting on uphill corners helps?

I'm trying to shave less than half a second of the stage 2 lap time for gold on Beginner but I can't seem to find it, this is probably the kind of thing that will make a difference.

Please excuse my ignorance, I'm no GT noob, and I drive in RL, I just can't fathom why it helps. I don't care TBH as long as it does, just want to know ofr future refference when this technique may help.

Many Thanks

Hi guys,
I have 3 questions:
1. How much EXP do you get for the full lap on the lvl 24 SLS AMG Wet?
2. How much EXP do you get for each sector on the lvl 24 SLS AMG Wet?
3. Is the full lap easier than each sector individually on the lvl 24 SLS AMG Wet?

Thanks guys, asking these questions because I'm lvl 29.5 A-Spec and want to reach lvl 30 in A-Spec the fastest way possible. I need to grind for the 2nd time Indy 500 but will still have 80k exp left to lvl 30.

You can cheat it very easily, cutting of corners is a no brainer here 💡

You may not be able to get it with AT but that is how I did it and I'm sure many others. I use MT now, by the way. Here is the real key, practice! I started getting silver by a second or two and ended up getting gold by seconds in just about every sector. My suggestion is to leave the driving line on while learning, but figure out where you don't need to follow it's suggested breaking points.

I'm having similar trouble to you guys. I'm using the ds3 and I have every level of the academy silvered with a few golds splashed in. The silvers are all very easy but the gold times just seem so far out of my reach. I'd like to think I'm a decent driver, 60 gold licenses with the ds3 and all that, but some of those golds are crazy.

Well, for my experience:
The Begginer ones I got gold on the first and bronze on the others

Then, in the Intermediate, with the SLS Tuned, an incredible car, I decided to really learn the track, so I got all golds after mastering all the track

Now, I have all golds, just need to do the final 2 sessions in the Expert level

The only trick is to practice A LOT, most of the turns are high speed, but they don't seem to be
Keep trying, I use the DS3 too, it's not impossible, just need to master the Ring ^^

The intermediate full lap took me 2 days of intense gaming to gold, It was really hard...

Pd: I used the ds3

No they are not, but note the intermediate full lap gold is the hardest.

What the AMG Academy proves beyond any doubt is that circuit knowledge really pays at the Nurburgring. Remember the Nascar seasonal event ? Lots of people said how difficult it was, whereas those who knew the Nurburgring found it very comfortable to gold.

Learn how much you can push the car, where and when to use the kerbs and the natural contours in the road... it all pays off in the end. Once you gold them all you will approach any Nurburgring event or race in a whole new way.

From what I'm gathering, the intermediate full lap is the hardest out of all the four levels: beginner, intermediate, advanced, expert...........so if you can get past the full lap intermediate...................

this event is pretty much fun imo. i did all dry tests with 3 attemps max. had some trouble in rain at the beginning, but after i got the rhythm for the car(s) on the wet track it was doable. love the sls, it´s a great thing to drive!

use the g27 and did the test 2 weeks after i got the wheel, so i wasn´t even on my top driving level (still not). did the events again recently and did most of the tests in first try. one lap events are awesome. i like trying to quickly pass those sunday drivers on the track and then give it a hot lap :)

Agreed. My slow lap (first lap) on the Nurburgring with the NASCAR was a 6:30:xxx. Was quite easy to keep the car on the track and keep a high speed. One of the things that helped tremendously was the AMG events, because the ring was broken down into sectors.

I did the A-spec ring 24H in GT4 in one sitting (and will again in GT5), as well as raced countless laps of it on personal time trials with my cars, but nothing has helped me learn the track better than the broken sectors. By breaking the track up, I was able to focus on each corner, and improving my exit speed/apexing through each corner, rather than have to focus on all 73 turns, and then all the bends, and then all the elevation changes all at once.

Just keep at it, take breaks. I found intermediate full lap fairly easy (6 tries, and gold on first clean lap without rear ending a car or skidding off), but I did the entire intermediate event in one go, so I was fresh from racing the sectors.
