It was an argument about a post of a video posted some time ago and he tried to sell it as gameplay, which it is not. To me and most other people gameplay footage is footage of the game being actually played according to the genre it belongs to. In a shooter i expect them to show people actually running arround and shooting stuff and in a racing game i expect them to show us footage of a player driving. I dont even consider replay to be actual gameplay!

Every developer does release such videos to fool people, or to make them believe their game looks better than it actually does. But we all know that they do it. But some random guy posting videos of photomode, or videos that do not actually show gameplay to prove that a certain game looks superior is just low.

As you said, he provided gameplay footage allready, so you acknowledge that Autovista, car dealers and photomode are not actually gameplay. He could have just said:
"Ah ok, so here is real gameplay to show the game for real and i think it looks good"

But instead he was just splitting hairs. Calling it Photomode, Phototravel, Autovista, car dealer, showroom or Top Gear homespace footage makes no difference, its just not gameplay. Its just a way to show the cars with their highest poly models and without the effects during gameplay.

I didnt even say Forza 4 looks bad or something, i know it does look good. Even Forza 3 did.

Just criticize it, and it'll get pretty grim in no time.

Anyhow, about Forza 4's car models, I have no idea if they're as good as GT5's or not from videos. They look nice, but I haven't tried to apply any vinyls to them and saw if the models were bug free this time. If the non-player's car has lower level of detail like Forza 3's cars were, maybe this is something PD could do as well to increase car count in race. Likewise, if Forza's tracks are loaded with detail but at low poly and fuzzed up with graphic tricks to keep the look of realism, maybe this is something PD and others could adopt in their games. Until graphic power goes off the scale and it doesn't matter how many polygons are on screen or objects with physics attached.

When Forza 4 comes out in a couple of weeks or so, I'm sure everyone would be in agreement that it should get the same in depth criticism a certain competitor does every day around here.

a. We have a thread for this
b. This thread isn't somehow exempt from the AUP. Argue the point, don't resort to name-calling, or warnings/infractions will be handed out.
c. Following people around who are critical of GT5 (or Forza, or any game), to complain about said critics, doesn't send the rosiest of notes.

This thread was bound to end up this way, though, as the question in the first post leans towards having members pick one or the other. Why not enjoy both? I'm picking up an XBox just to play FM4, but it doesn't mean I'm tossing GT5. It's a game, there's no need to worry about "loyalty". I mean .. I dont know, this is the only game forum im on so excessive complaining in a majority of threads might be normal.
Because this IS the place to show your fustrations for the game.
I just want complainers to understand that just because the site has alot of complainers doesnt mean that the majority maybe feels that way.
Speaking personally I know people who are new to the GT series that love and some thats been playing since gt1 that hates it .. and vice versa.
But thing is EVERY game will have its faults and complainers and there will be people who love it also.
So my advice to the people who enjoy the game , dont take the complaints personal .I know its annoying watching people talk so negatively SO MUCH () about a game you enjoy but .. they paid for it so they have the right to complain.

Don't worry mate I know exactly what you're saying. That's the same reaction I had also. I just think Zoo should have used the two video's he compared later on instead of the dlc trailer to prove a better point.

Or maybe the fans are critical cause the game obviously needs improvement that the company should be aware of before the next installment, just in case they thought this was an over sweeping success. There is a good group of people that aren't blindly faithful to a game like some political party that you've given several years to with no results. Things tend to improve when you criticise them.

My point on the portion you disagree with is that if you like the game and have no complaints don't let the critical people get to you. Ignore them and move on, but when you question them you'll have others like me telling them why they complain so much. I agree with you all games have their issues, Forza is no different from GT and any other car or non-car game before it.

I have said it before and i will say it again. Gran Turismo is a brand. Forza is just another sim game. Just like the countless other sim games on PC that rides on the coattails of GT, the pioneer and daddy of all things sim

No matter how hard our resident forza lovers try to bash GT, no amount of trolling will change the fact that when you compare both series they are miles apart. Nothing will change this fact. Not this generation at least. Not the american gaming press or MS cash.

The op didn't make this a GT vs FM thread the posters after made it that way. For all you and I know the OP could be asking to see if he'll have people to play with online. This seems to be an emotional driven, personal issue and as I've said if you don't like people complaining about GT5 and you love it with a great conviction then their words shouldn't hurt you. You obviously see the enjoyment they don't, it like asking people why they complain about Pepsi wanting it to taste like Coke. However, there are simple people complaining because GT wasn't what the hype said it would be and they have a right to want GT6 to be the game they thought GT5 would be (whatever that is).
